Abstract

The Philippines is home to a thriving food service business encompassing a wide range of facilities, including restaurants, fast-food chains, cafes, and tiny booths and kiosks. Economic growth and employment are of profound importance in the fast-food industry. The study aims to investigate the significant and positive relationship between business management practices and financial performance. To examine the relationship between business management practices and financial performance as factors, a correlational research design and Pearson's r were utilized in the research process. Due to the study's limitations, other researchers might also consider examining other variables through causal-comparative research. The study's outcomes indicate that methods about finance, human resources, marketing, and operations have a statistically positive and significant relationship with financial performance. These restaurants are considering addressing more difficulties or utilizing a paper to further develop their strategies and practices to improve their economic performance.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between organizational commitment and job satisfaction among employees in selected quick-service restaurants (QSRs) in the Philippines. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 279 frontline employees of Jollibee and McDonald’s across Metro Manila. The Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) and Job Descriptive Index (JDI) measured various dimensions of commitment and satisfaction. Findings revealed high levels of affective and normative commitment, moderate continuance commitment, and overall high job satisfaction, particularly in career development. A strong positive correlation was found between organizational commitment and job satisfaction, with normative commitment showing the strongest link. No significant differences were observed between local and international QSR brands. These results suggest that emotional and moral factors, more than financial considerations, play a central role in employee satisfaction in the fast-paced food service sector. The study contributes to HR practices by emphasizing the need for purpose-driven work environments and growth opportunities. It concludes that strengthening affective and normative commitment enhances retention and satisfaction. It is recommended that QSRs implement structured recognition programs, leadership development tracks, and internal promotion initiatives to build a more committed workforce. This study is limited by its use of non-probability sampling and focus on Metro Manila, which may affect the generalizability of the results. Practically, these findings guide QSR managers in designing targeted employee engagement and retention strategies. Socially, the study highlights the importance of supporting frontline worker well-being and career growth in high-turnover industries.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a strategic web design approach for micro or small enterprises focusing on workshop-based creative industries, using FGH (an enterprise specializing in handcrafted shibori techniques) as a case study. The research adopts a design thinking approach, encompassing five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected through interviews and observations involving the business owner and potential customers. Two key personas emerged: “The Curious Creative” and “The Craft Entrepreneur,” with the design focus on the latter. During the define stage, user needs were synthesized using the empathy map, Customer Journey Map (CJM), and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC). The ideate phase involved collaborative brainstorming sessions guided by the five dimensions of experiential marketing: sense, feel, think, act, and relate. Ideas were then validated with stakeholders for relevance and feasibility. The findings reveal a demand for a digital platform that not only provides workshop information but also supports learning processes, community engagement, and access to an alumni marketplace. This research contributes to understanding user-centered digital strategies for creative micro-enterprises, particularly those offering experiential-based services.

Abstract

The performance of the Regional Public Drinking Water Company is an essential indicator in ensuring public access to efficient and sustainable clean water services. This study aims to analyze the influence of service coverage and the rate of water loss (Non-Revenue Water/ NRW) on the performance of Tirta Giri Nata Cirebon City, Indonesia. The approach is quantitative with multiple linear regression methods, based on monthly data from 2021 to 2023. The results showed that the coverage of services had a significant positive effect on performance, while NRW had a significant adverse impact. The determination coefficient (R²) value of 42.1% indicates that both variables explain a large proportion of variations in company performance. These findings affirm the importance of strategies to expand the coverage and control of NRW as a crucial step in improving regional drinking water services' operational efficiency and sustainability.

Abstract

The importance of sustainability disclosures has gained increasing attention in recent years, particularly among stakeholders aiming to maximize wealth by increasing firm value. This research aims to examine the moderating role of good corporate governance on the effect of economic, environmental, and social disclosure on firm value. This study adopted a quantitative approach with an associative design, using content analysis with the GRI 2021 Standards.  The research focused on companies listed on the SRI KEHATI index from 2019 to 2023. The results indicate that only economic disclosure has a significant effect on firm value. Board size is not relatively effective in moderating the effect of economic, environmental and social disclosure on firm value. Audit committee meetings only can moderate the effect of economic disclosure on firm value. The presence of independent commissioners can effectively moderate the effect of economic, environmental, and social disclosures on firm value. Firms may leverage the findings of this research to evaluate the implementation of sustainability reporting. At the same time, investors are encouraged to focus on both financial and sustainability disclosures when making investment decisions.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of board diversity, specifically gender, age, and nationality, on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores in non-financial publicly listed companies in Indonesia from 2019 to 2023. Using Resource Dependence Theory, the study also examines whether profitability and cash flow moderate these relationships. A fixed effects panel regression was applied to 28 firms, resulting in 140 firm-year observations. The results show that gender diversity significantly improves ESG performance, while age diversity has an adverse effect. Nationality diversity alone has no significant impact. Nationality diversity does not substantially influence ESG performance on its own. However, Cash flow and profitability strengthen the effect of ND on ESG. Meanwhile, financial performance indicators alone do not significantly enhance ESG outcomes. These findings suggest that financial capacity allows firms to leverage diverse boards for sustainability goals better. The study offers practical insights for managers and regulators to align board composition with ESG strategies and encourages further research on other forms of board diversity.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of cooperative membership on the resource access of the teachers of the Luakan National High School in Dinalupihan, Bataan, Philippines. The study aimed to: determine whether there is a significant difference in the estimated monthly consumption expenditures of the teachers before and after joining their consumer cooperative; explain how cooperative membership enhances the teachers’ resource access and turns their capabilities into functionings; and discuss the problems being faced by the cooperative members. The needed data for the study were obtained through an online survey of 34 members of the cooperative and a face-to-face interview of 12 of their officials. The study found a significant difference between the estimated monthly consumption expenditures of the teachers before (M = 7,514.71, SD = 5,240.41) and after (M = 9,638.24, SD = 5,886.66) joining their cooperative; t = -11.43, p = 0.000. It suggests that cooperative membership has an effect on resource access, as indicated by the change in their estimated monthly consumption expenditures. The study also found that cooperative membership enhances the teachers’ resource access and turns their capabilities into functionings through the provision of meals, financial benefits, and collegial and moral support. The cooperative officials’ slow decision-making, competition from donor and school-managed canteens, and prohibition of sales outside the designated class breaks are the problems being faced by the teachers.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of visual image recognition marketing and short-form ephemeral content marketing on the sales of graphic artworks in Calabar Metropolis. Guided by two research questions and two null hypotheses, the study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised graphic artists, digital content creators, art dealers, gallery owners, social media marketers, and buyers of graphic artworks, from which 100 participants were purposively selected. Data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire and supplemented with semi-structured interviews. Reliability of the instrument was confirmed with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.70. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics (means, frequencies, and percentages) and inferential statistics, including Pearson’s correlation and regression analysis, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that visual image recognition marketing significantly influences sales of graphic artworks (r = 0.52, p < 0.05), accounting for 27% of sales variation. Similarly, short-form ephemeral marketing significantly influences sales (r = 0.55, p < 0.05), accounting for 30% of sales variation. Both strategies were found to enhance brand visibility, consumer engagement, and purchase intention, although some respondents noted potential drawbacks such as reduced audience retention or discoverability issues. The study concluded that integrating compelling, high-quality visuals with timely, short-form promotional content can substantially improve sales performance in the creative arts sector. It was recommended that artists and marketers invest in consistent visual branding, leverage social media short-form formats, and adopt analytics tools to monitor and optimize marketing impact.

Abstract

In this paper, a systematic review of the literature on the labor market integration (LMI) of people with disabilities (PWD) was conducted. PWD’s LMI is characterized by obtaining a (first) job, by the suitability of this job, by its security and maintenance, by a long-term career, by participation in the labor market, and by finding the meaning of this job. The stakeholder perspective of integrating PWD into the labor market could be extended to the long term. Thanks to the results and analysis supplied by this research, these partners will be able to channel their actions along the six phases identified. This article will enable the people involved to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon, solve the problems, and better assume their responsibilities. This study responds to the lack of literature review on the PWD’s LMI and provides an analysis and organization of this knowledge.
