Abstract

Increased consumption of processed foods, including instant noodles, which have excess sodium content, can make a significant contribution to non-communicable diseases. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with the consumption of instant noodles in nutrition students at Binawan University. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 76 nutrition students at Binawan University. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test. The research subject data for consumption of instant noodles was the most rare category, namely 46 people (60,5%), nutritional knowledge was in the poor category, namely 50 people (65,8%), the influence of peers in the affected category was 47 people (61,8%), the length of use of social media in the old category is 48 people (63,2%), pocket money in the low category is 45 people (59,2%), the availability of instant noodles in the easy category is 63 people (82,9%). Statistical data showed that there was a relationship between instant noodle consumption and the influence of peers, pocket money, and availability of instant noodles (p<0,05). There is no relationship between nutritional knowledge and duration of use of social media (p>0,05). There is a relationship between the consumption of instant noodles with the influence of peers, allowance, and the availability of instant noodles.

Abstract

The integrated nutritional information system (Sigizi Terpadu), known as e-PPGBM, developed by the Ministry of Health can be useful as a data source for observing nutritional problems in certain target groups. Newborn baby data in e-PPGBM can provide an overview of nutritional and health conditions during pregnancy. This research was designed in a cross-sectional manner by downloading data on newborns in the 2019–2023 period (last 5 years) in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province from the e-PPGBM application. The data were analyzed descriptively and graphically. The number of newborns has decreased every year, ranging from 7.0–17.5% with a sex ratio of 1.17–1.23. There is a gap in the reported numbers between e-PPGBM and family health profiles each year, up to 35% in 2023. The prevalence of underweight over the last 5 years ranged from 12.7–14.4% and increased during the 2020–2021 pandemic by 1.7% for underweight and 1.5% for stunted, but wasting decreased by 1.9%. The incidence of underweight and stunted babies is more common in boys, while wasting is more common in baby girls. The decrease in the prevalence of wasting in the 2019–2023 period is assumed to be due to a decrease in the number of babies reported in the e-PPGBM application, although the prevalence of underweight and stunted increases in the 2019–2023 period but is lower than the 2023 SKI results. Appropriate nutritional and health interventions need to be implemented during pregnancy and when the new baby is born.

Abstract

The use of tuna fish is still focused only on the flesh, the rest, such as tuna bones, only become waste, both at the industrial level and at the household level because its use has not been carried out optimally, even though fish bones contain tricalcium phosphate compounds which for the human body have ideal benefits. This study aims to develop a biskuit product made form moringa oleifera leaf flour enriched with tuna fish bone meal (Thunnus Sp) as a supplementary food for premenopausal women. The type of research is experimental using a Complately Randomize Design (CRD). Direct experimental were carried out on the addition of tuna bone meal to the moringa leaf flour biskuit product with 4 treathment namely 0 gr (F0), 20 gr (F1), 40 gr (F2), and 60 gr (F3) with 2 repetitions. The results showed that the selected formula of moringa leaf flour biscuit with tuna bone meal based on hedonic test, hedonic quality and nutritional test was F1 with the likes and the characteristics of a slightly light color, slightly fragrant aroma, slightly sweet test, and crunchy texture. The nutritional content of the selected formula is 13,2% water content, 3,4% ash content, 9,25% protein, and 1.398,223 mg calcium. The selected formula for the development of moringa leaf flour biscuit enriched with tuna bone meal is F1 with the addition of 10% tuna bone meal or 20 grams.

Abstract

The prevalence of patients on hemodialysis at Hermina Bekasi Hospital increases from year to year. The risk of malnutrition in chronic kidney failure patients on hemodialysis is very high. Several causal factors include nutritional knowledge and intake. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nutritional knowledge, energy and protein intake with the nutritional status of outpatient chronic kidney failure patients on hemodialysis at Hermina Bekasi Hospital. The design of this study was cross sectional, which was carried out at Hermina Bekasi Hospital on 90 subjects in May-June 2018. The research subjects were patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis who had undergone hemodialysis for at least one-month, routine HD twice per week, without NGT, can communicate well. Nutritional status was measured using the SGA form, nutritional knowledge using a structured questionnaire and intake was measured using a 3x24 hour food record. Statistical analysis with Chi-square with α 5%. 43% of subjects had poor or poor nutritional status, most of them had good knowledge (55.6%), and had a good intake (energy 52.2% and protein 78.9%). There is a significant relationship between nutritional knowledge and nutritional status (p 0.038; OR 2.447), and a relationship between energy intake and nutritional status (p = 0.000; OR 15.951), as well as protein intake and nutritional status (p = 0.005; OR 5.032). In chronic kidney patients on hemodialysis, knowledge and macronutrient intake are closely related to nutritional status.
