Indonesian Nursing Journal of Education and Clinic (INJEC) is the official peer-reviewed research journal of the Association of Indonesian Nurses Education Center (AINEC). This journal aims to promote advancement in nursing and healthcare through the dissemination of the latest research findings. INJEC covers a wide range of nursing topics such as nursing education, clinical practice, advanced nursing issue and policy related to the nursing profession. Abstract

Introduction. Pain in childbirth cause the psychological disorders for mothers, such as 87% of postpartum blues, 10% of depression and 3% of psychosis. One method to reduce the pain of childbirth is to give counter pressure on the sacral region, but the application of this method is usually only done by health workers. The purpose of this study was to describe the practice of counter-pressure made by the husband and wife to relieve pain in labour. Method. Research method used descriptive analytic design. As the population were 40 husbands who waiting for their wifes at first stage of labour. The husbands have been trained about counter-pressure methods. The sampling method used consecutive sampling method. Result. Obtained 75% husbands did well for practicing counter-pressure method, 60% women claimed reducing of pain after given counter- pressure by their husband. Discussion. This is importance to spouse presence in first stage labour for reducing the pain of mothers in childbirth.Keywords: counter pressure method, pain of childbirth, the husband practices

Abstract

Introduction. Stroke cause blood stream impairment in part of brain stem and reducepatients’ life quality. The patients cannot activate as usual and will have defecation disorder, wecall it constipation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of ROM exercise and abdomen warm compress to overcome constipation in patient with non-hemorrhage stroke. Method. Quasi experiment design without control group was used in this study. All stroke non hemorrhage patients in Putri Hijau hospital Medanwere the respondents in this study. Data analysis used t-test (α=0,05). Result. The result showed that most defecation frequency of patients who got ROMwas twice in a week (50%), and patients who got warm compress most had 3 times defecations (50%). Time defecation of patients who got ROM most two times (56,3%), and for patientswho got warm compress was also two times (81,3%). There was difference of feces consistency (p=0,004; α=0,05); defecation frequency (p=0,000; α=0,05), and time defecation (p=0,007;α=0,05) to respondents who got ROM and warm compress. Discussion. This study result could be used asevident based practice in delivering nursing care to patients who had constipation so thatcomplementary therapy could be applied as prevention and cure.Key Words: Stroke, ROM, warm compress, constipation

Abstract

Introduction. Epidemiological data showed an increased prevalence of chronic pain and weakness in the elderly. Nonpharmacological modality therapy is a component of multi modal management that very important for pain management, including Ergonomic Exercises. The aims of the study was to determine the effect of activity therapy ergonomic exercises to decrease joint pain scale, and to increase muscle strength in elderly with joints degenerative. Method. Quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design was carried out in this study. Purposive sampling was used to identify the study subjects. A sample of 50 elderly was included in the study for experimental (17) and control (33) groups. Sampling technique used purposive sampling. T-test, Wilcoxon, and two sample Wilcoxon rank-sum, tests were used to analysis the data. Results. During the four weeks intervention of ergonomic exercise, there were significant decreases in scale joint pain in elderly with degenerative joint by P value 0.000 (α < 0.05), and increases in muscle strength by P value 0.002 for muscles pull and P value 0,0001 for muscles push. Discussion. Activity therapy of an ergonomic exercise has significant influence to decrease joint pain scale and to increase muscle strength in elderly with degenerative joints.Keywords: joint degenerative, elderly, joint pain, muscle strength, ergonomic exercises

Abstract

Introduction. Leukemia is a kind of cancer that most occur in children 33% of the total number of childhood cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of coping strategy and children characteristic to parental acceptance in parents of children with leukemia.Method. Design used in this study was cross-sectional. Population in this study was parents (mothers) of children with leukemia in Dr. Soetomo Hospitals Surabaya, with consecutive sampling technique. Total sample was 23 mothers. Coping strategy measurement was done using questionnaire modification from Lazarus & Folkman Appraisal stress and coping strategy in Transactional Theory, parental acceptance was measured using questionnaire. Data that obtained then was processed and analyzed using spearman and pearson correlation, alternative hypothesis would be accepted if p<0,05.Result. The results of this study showed that the relationship between coping strategy with parental acceptance was significant (p = 0.000). For the relationship between children characteristics with parental acceptance, variable of phase of treatment, illness classification and duration of illness showed a significant result (p = 0.000), whereas variables of children age and children sequences showed insignificant results with parental acceptance.Discussion. Good parental acceptance will only happen if parents are willing and capable in understanding themselves.Keywords: Parental acceptance, children leukemia, primary appraisal, coping strategy

Abstract

Introduction. Types of nursing education in Indonesia are vocational, academic and professional. Professional education is higher education after an undergraduate program that prepares students to have jobs with specific skill requirements. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect student interest in continuing professional education nurses based on perception, motivation and support system. Method. The study design was a descriptive analytic cross-sectional approach. Unstratified sampling using random sampling with a sample of 111 respondents in health education institutions in karisidenan Banyumas, there are Harapan Bangsa Purwokerto Institute of Health Science, Purwokerto Muhammadiyah University, Jenderal Sudirman University.Data was analysed by using multivariate logistic regression. Results. The results of the study showed that no correlation  perception, motivation, and support system of nurses Profession election interest in health education institutions in-karisidenan Banyumas (p=0,999; 0,956; 0,135).Discussion. The most dominant factor affecting the interest of the nurse profession was support system.Keywords: interest, perception, motivation, support system, professional nurses

Abstract

Introduction.The majority of increasing rates of mental illness cases cause by recurrence. Music stimulation therapy on patients with hallucinations is one of the modalities of therapy in nursing care. The purpose of this study was to reduce the recurrence rate of patients experienced with hearing voices.Methods.Patients were asked to listen to music when hallucinations appeared. The nurse was accompanying and observing during therapy. After completion of therapy, patients were interviewed using an open ended question how the response toward the music therapy. Interview data were analyzed using narrative strategies of inquiry. In addition the patients were also measured a number of hallucinations that appeared before therapy. The intervention was applied for one month, and then the patients are repeated its measures by the appearance of hallucinations. The Wilcoxon test was utilized to compare differences between before and after intervention.Result. The themes finding that can be developed were the music therapy shows specific responses and the music therapy disrupts hallucinations. While the quantitative analysis, there were the differences mean between before and after the intervention, but the statistical test showed insignificant value.Discussion. Stimulation therapy of hearing voice panned out and eliminated ongoing hallucinations in patients with a medical diagnosis of undifferentiated schizophrenia, but the response of paranoid schizophrenia patients were unsuccessful.Key words: Nursing modalities therapy, schizophrenia, auditory hallucinations
