Focus and Scope Animal Breeding and Genetics It covers a wide range of applied animal breeding, genetic evaluation technology, quantitative and molecular genetics, evolution as well as genomics and bioinformatics of farm animals. Animal Reproduction and Physiology Different aspects of reproduction and physiology of farm animals are covered in this scope including and not limited to physiology of fertilization, early development, growth and lactation. Feed and Nutrition It covers microbiology and function of rumen, ruminants/non-ruminants nutrition, physiology and metabolism related to feeding, forage nutrion and provision, feed and feed additive evaluation, technology of feed processing, poultry and other non-ruminants farm animals nutrition and its physiology. Animal Products It covers technology of post harvest of farm animal products, food safety, food security, functional foods, biology of muscle, product composition, and science of milk, meat and egg. Animal Biotechnology Some aspects of animal biotechnology of farm animals are covered including and not limited to molecular nutrition, transgenetics as well as genes identification and manipulation. Animal Health It includes studies about animal modeling on animal health, infection and immunity, physiology of stress, vaccine and therapeutics of farm animals. Animal Behaviour and Welfare Social and sexual behaviour, adaptation, and welfare of farm animals are included in this topic. Environment, Management, and Socio-Economics It covers topics on management of waste and by-products, livestock and environment, farming system, and socio-agribusiness of animal production.

Abstract

Kambing Saburai dihasilkan dari persilangan secara grading up antara kambing Boer jantan dengan Peranakan Etawah (PE) betina. Performans produksi merupakan parameter yang dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui kualitas bibit kambing. Pertumbuhan dipengaruhi oleh faktor genetik dan lingkungan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui performans produksi Kambing Saburai di wilayah sumber bibit Kabupaten Tanggamus. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan metode survey, penentuan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah 180 ekor Kambing Saburai betina. Peubah yang diamati meliputi bobot lahir, bobot sapih, dan bobot satu tahun, pertambahan bobot badan harian (PBBH) prasapih, PBBH pascasapih, dan ukuran-ukuran tubuh (panjang badan, tinggi pundak, lingkar dada) pada kambing Saburai Betina umur 1 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan di kecamatan Gisting dan Sumberrejo rata-rata bobot lahir 3,3+0,4 kg dan 3,1+0,3 kg, bobot sapih 16,1+3,4 kg dan 14,9+3,7 kg, bobot setahun 37,2+5,01 kg dan 34,7+5,2kg, dan karakteristik morfologi (panjang badan 51,3+6,5 cm dan 51,8+7,8 cm, tinggi pundak 52,3+4,8 cm dan 53,2+5,6 cm, lingkar dada 60,2+8,2 cm dan 58,8+7,8 cm) pada kambing Saburai Betina umur 1 tahun. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui trend pemotongan sapi dan kerbau betina produktif di rumah potong hewan (RPH) dan tempat pemotongan hewan (TPH) pada Kabupaten/Kota di Provinsi Jambi. Penelitian ini menggunakan data yang diperoleh dari ISIKHNAS center Ditjen Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan, Kementerian Pertanian Republik Indonesia. Data yang diambil berupa jumlah pemotongan ternak sapi dan kerbau betina produktif perbulan yang dipotong di RPH dan TPH. Metode analisa mengggunakan Uji OLS untuk melihat trend pemotongan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan trend pemotongan sapi betina produktif yang dipotong di RPH dan TPH meningkat dengan rata-rata 9% perbulan dan persentase pemotongan meningkat dengan rata-rata 20,91% perbulan. Sedangkan trend pemotongan kerbau betina produktif di RPH dan TPH meningkat dengan rata-rata 3,37% perbulan dan persentase pemotongan meningkat dengan rata-rata 17,53% perbulan. Trend pemotongan sapi betina produktif meningkat tertinggi terjadi di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat dan Kabupaten Batanghari. Sedangkan trend pemotongan kerbau betina produktif meningkat tertinggi terjadi di Kabupaten Batanghari. Kata kunci: Kecendrungan, Pemotongan , Sapi, Kerbau, Betina, Produktif

Abstract

The aims of this study was to reveal the effectiveness of the use of Probio_FMplus broiler. Two hundret of day old chick (DOC) were used in this experiment. DOCs were randomly treated into five treatments with five replications consiting of eight DOCs. Treatments were the use of Probio_FMplus within drinking water of 0, 10, 15 and 20 ml/liter for treatment P0, P1, P2, P3and P4 respectively. The design of experiment was Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and five replications. Parametters measured were ration comsumption, weight gain, slaughter weight and feed conversion. The results of this experiment showed that the level of Probio_FMplus in drinking water did not significantly influence (P>0,05) on ration consumption, weight gain, slaughter weight and feed conversion. It could be concluded that the use of 10 ml/liter of Probio_FMplus in dringking waterwas the most effective in broiler. Kata kunci: probiotik, prebiotik, simbiotik, putak

Abstract

Abstract This study was aimed to determine the retention of dry matter, nitrogen and crude fiber of Azolla Meal (Azollamicrophilla) fermented with Pleurotus ostreatus mushroom as a mixture of kampung chicken rations. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design which consisted of 4 treatments and 5 replicates; P0 (Ration 0% Azolla Meal Fermentation (AF), P1 (Ration containing 5% AF), P2 (Ration containing 10% AF ) and P3 (Ration containing 15% AF). The observed variables were dry matter retention (DM), nitrogen retention (N) and crude fiber digestibility (CF). The data found were analyzed using variance analysis. The evident effect of the treatment on the observed variables then tested by Duncan's multiple range test. The results of the research presented that the use of fermented Azolla starch up to 15% in kampung chicken ration had no significant effect (P> 0,05) on the retention of dry matter, nitrogen and crude fiber. The fermentation of Azolla Meal with Pleurotus ostreatus (AF) mushroom improved the quality of Azolla as feed ingredients up to 15%. This research concluded that the use of fermented Azolla Meal with Pleurotus ostreatus (AF) mushroom in kampung chicken ration up to 15% can be used without affecting the retention of dry matter (DM), nitrogen (N) and crude fiber digestibility (CF). Abstract

Introductions of fermented milk production in the Pekanbaru city is still very limited. One of the raw materials for the manufacture of fermented milk is goat's milk and have started to be developed in the Pekanbaru city. Diversification efforts of dairy productsis expected to introduce a fermented milk as a functional food with the addition of probiotic bacteria. Microbiological and physical quality becomes an important parameter in this study to determine the quality of goat milk yogurt produced to fit the standardized yogurt products. The design of experiment used in this experiment was a Completely Randomized Design with three replications for each treatment. Parameters observed were lactic acid bacteria population, total plate count, pH and titratable acidity. The results showed of yogurt starter culture population (S. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus) and probiotic bacteria L. acidophilusin the range of 9 log 10 CFU/mL, with the average of pH value was 4 and the titratable acidity was 1.743%. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Sungai Bahar dan Sungai Gelam Kabupaten Muaro Jambi Provinsi Jambi untuk mengetahui (1) Jenis vegetasi/hijauan yang terdapat di perkebunan kelapa sawit, 2) indeks kepekaan ekologi dalam bentuk indeks nilai penting (INP), dan 3) Keseragaman jenis hijauan pakan ternak yang tumbuh di bawah perkebunan kelapa sawit. Analisis vegetasi menggunakan petak ukur 1x1 m2 sebanyak 60 petak untuk seluruh lokasi penelitian. Dominasi vegetasi berdasarkan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP). Kecamatan Sungai Bahar Chromolaena odorata(INP=51,13%) dan Kecamatan Sungai Gelam Axonophus compresus (INP=46,19%).Nilai indeks keseragaman (Evenness=J') yang tertinggi 0,55 terdapat di desa Sungai Gelam dengan umur tanaman kelapa sawit 16 tahun.
