Abstract

Background: Decision to correct the Angle class I malocclusion with mandibular second premolar impaction need a special art and knowledge. The problem is what kind the treatment planning, extraction or relocation the impaction tooth. Case: A female patient, 16 years old, mesoprosopic and good proporsion of jaw with right mandibular second premolar impaction. Case Management: Treatment was initially using fixed orthodontic appliance followed by both arches expansion. Case was corected with MBT orthodontics philosopy platform. In the final treatment, molar and canine relation was obtained class I relationship, normal overjet and overbite. Conclusion: The results of this treatment indicated that mild impaction can be corrected without surgical exposure. Expantion using archwire and open coil spring is powerfull enough for this treatment. The right decision make the simplest method for the greatests results.

Abstract

Background: Breast Milk (ASI) be source of best nutrition for baby and child of especially in 6th month. ASI very useful for development of brain and body endurance, and can tighten the relation of affection between mothers and baby. One important things at composition ASI that is doesn't contain sucrose. Sucrose defined since beginning of at baby will influence preferensi / selera food, what can cause health trouble risk. Method: This research type is analytic of observasional with design cross sectional. Technics of sampling applies is probability sampling a number of 50 responders. Result: In this research shows there are comparison of dental caries between ASI and formula milk at child of age 6 month of until 2 year with valuable F test 6,422 with probability ( p) = 0,003<0,05. Conclusion: There is positive comparison of dental caries between ASI and formula milk at responder where more baby drinking formula milk, hence there will be improvement of case number of dental caries at age baby 6th month until 2 year in Kecamatan Kuta Kabupaten Badung Provinsi Bali.

Abstract

Background: Dental caries is a oral disease with a high prevalence in paediatric dentistry that can affect the quality of life. Around 60%-90% of school-age children in the world are affected by caries and in Indonesia the prevalence of caries in children aged 5-9 years reaches 92.6%. Caries is caused by many factors, one of which is the low level of oral health education. UKGS (School Dental Health Program) is one of the effective and efficient promotive and preventive efforts. A literature review was conducted the relationship between the implementation of School Dental Health Program with dental caries status in school-age children. Method: Literature review research with a systematic approach, using data sources from the Google Scholar, PubMed and Science Direct databases. Result: A literature review conducted from 21 articles showed that the School Dental Health Program was related to the dental caries status of school-age children. Schools that implement the School Dental Health Program well have children with low dental caries status. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the School Dental Health Program and dental caries status in school-age children.

Abstract

Background: The existence of Faculty of Dentistry has contributed to the establishment of the dental and oral hospital. A faculty of dentistry must have a dental and oral hospital as an effort to improve the quality of dentists and general patient care. Activity based costing is an accounting information system that identifies various activities done by an organization and calculates the costs of a product based on the activities required to produce, implement, and distribute it. The objective of the present study was to determine and realize dental and oral service costs using the ABC method at the general dental polyclinic of Unimus dental hospital. Method: This research is a qualitative descriptive case study design with open end method in form of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the director and management of Unimus dental hospital. Result: Based on the calculation of the cost for services at the general dental polyclinic of Unimus dental hospital with Activity Based Costing, it can be concluded that the highest cost is   Rp. 1,202,809 for the service of Odontectomy M3 Class I A, and the lowest cost is Rp. 106,670 for Anamnesis / consultation without any action. The range is a result of discrepancies in the disposable items used in each of the action or service. Conclusion: The tariff has been concluded through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the director and management of Unimus dental hospital with accordance to the policy that 30% is allocated for medical service cost and 30% is apportioned for profit as the management expects.

Abstract

Background: Gummy smile is a condition where the maxillary front gingiva looks excessive when someone smiles. This condition is often aesthetically unpleasant. There are several causes of gummy smile, the most common is alveolo-skeletal etiology. Treatment of gummy smiles with an alveolo-skeletal etiology is often performed by intrusion of anterior segment teeth. Recently, there have been several technique of tooth intrusions using fixed orthodontic appliances combined with miniscrews. Objective: To study the treatment results of  gummy smile correction using orthodontic appliance combined with miniscrew. Conclusion: Treatment of gummy smile using orthodontic appliance combined with miniscrew gives satisfaying results in cases with alveolo-skeletal etiology, especially in patients with long faces.
