Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of the Human Development Index (HDI), investment, and government spending on economic growth in Paser Regency from 2009 to 2020. The data used is derived from annual secondary data and analyzed using path analysis with AMOS 23 to examine direct and indirect relationships, with unemployment as a mediating variable. The results show that investment, particularly through increased production capacity and economic activity, has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, while government spending and HDI have a negative effect on growth. This indicates that regional budget allocation is still dominated by unproductive spending, while the increase in HDI is not yet in line with labor market needs. Furthermore, mediation analysis shows that unemployment does not play a significant role in channeling the influence of independent variables on growth. Therefore, Paser's economic dynamics are more influenced by structural elements than by labor market cycles. At the district level, this study provides empirical benefits by highlighting issues of fiscal inefficiency, human resource mismatches, and dependence on the mining sector. One consequence of this policy is that government spending must be allocated to more productive sectors, investment must be more diversified outside the extractive sector, and human resource development programs must be tailored to the needs of the labor market. It is hoped that these measures will boost sustainable economic growth and reduce structural vulnerability.

Abstract

The Semarang-Demak Toll Road was constructed as a strategic component of the Indonesian government's initiatives to enhance regional connectivity and promote economic development in Central Java. Nevertheless, this endeavor not only generates intricate social and environmental consequences, but also generates economic advantages. The objective of this investigation is to identify and evaluate the social, economic, and environmental consequences of the toll road's construction. The study will concentrate on social inequality, population migration, changes in settlement patterns, and environmental degradation, including erosion, inundation, and pollution. The multidimensional approach that simultaneously integrates social, economic, and environmental analysis in the context of large-scale infrastructure development is the unique feature of this study. This approach has not been comprehensively investigated in the case of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies are implemented, which encompass surveys, in-depth interviews, field observations, and secondary data analysis. The research sample was purposively selected from the community, local economic actors, and policy makers along the toll corridor. The study's findings suggest that while toll road construction can enhance economic development and accessibility, it also has negative repercussions, including decreased environmental quality, changes in spatial planning, and social inequality. Therefore, a mitigation strategy is required in the form of sustainable development, community involvement, and inclusive government policies to ensure that economic benefits are equitable and that social and environmental aspects are not sacrificed. This research is a significant contribution to the development of sustainable and equitable infrastructure development policies.

Abstract

This study aims to map the distribution of the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Java Island in 2024 and analyze the factors that influence it. Although Java Island is the center of national economic growth, the open unemployment rate in this region is still high and unevenly distributed. The spatial method employed to capture the impact of geographical dependence between areas, which has not been extensively disclosed in prior studies, is what makes this work new. This study utilizes cross-sectional secondary data from 119 districts/cities and is analyzed using classical regression and spatial regression (Spatial Error Model) through GeoDa software. The results show that the variables of district/city minimum wage (UMK), the labor force participation rate (TPAK), and the human development index (IPM) have a significant effect on the open unemployment rate (TPT), while economic growth (PE) and the ratio of the population living in poverty (KEMISKINAN) do not have a significant effect. The findings also indicate a strong spatial autocorrelation, suggesting that the unemployment condition in a region is influenced by its surrounding regions. This study concludes that unemployment in Java is more influenced by structural factors than macroeconomic growth. Therefore, unemployment reduction policies should be regional, focus on improving the quality of human resources, and consider spatial interrelationships between regions.

Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the spatial dimension of income inequality in Indonesia.  This study was conducted by comparing the spatial dimension of income inequality in Indonesia in 2019 with the spatial dimension of income inequality in Indonesia in 2024. This study can provide an overview of income inequality over the last 5 years, before the Covid-19 pandemic and after the recovery period from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The similarities with previous research is found in the area of focus. Meanwhile, the differences lies on the analysis method used. The data used in this study is the value of Gini Ratio for 2019 period and 2024 period. Analysis method used includes geographic information system analysis and Moran index analysis.  The finding of this study is from the mapping with using geographic information system analysis, it can be seen that the provinces with the highest income inequality in 2019 period did not necessarily have high income inequality in 2024 period. Conversely, the provinces with the lowest income inequality in 2019 period did not necessarily have low income inequality in 2024 period.  The analysis result of Moran index in 2019 period and 2024 period indicated positive and significant value of Moran index.  Positive and significant value of Moran index meant that there were clustered areas which have the same characteristic. Policy implication of this study is that, collaboration across levels of government and a focus on strategic infrastructure, education, and improving the distribution of social assistance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of gross regional domestic product per capita, proportion of urban population, labor force participation rate, and inflation on income inequality among provinces in Indonesia. The method used is panel data regression with a fixed effect model approach, using data from 33 provinces from 2011 to 2024. The results show that the proportion of urban population hurts income inequality, which suggests that an increase in the number of people living in urban areas can contribute to reducing income inequality. The labor force participation rate shows a positive but insignificant effect. Meanwhile, inflation has a positive effect, reflecting that price pressures widen inequality. Gross regional domestic product per capita has a positive effect, while the square of gross regional domestic product per capita has a negative effect. These findings are consistent with Kuznet's hypothesis, which describes a nonlinear relationship pattern between growth and inequality, and support the Phillips curve, which ex-plains that rising inflation can worsen income distribution.

Abstract

As the use of digital payment systems through e-money increases, inflation control requires a measurable monetary policy mechanism. This study aims to examine the effect of the money supply on the inflation rate and measure the moderating role of e-money transactions. This study employs a quantitative method using time series data for the period from January 2018 to March 2025, resulting in a total of 87 months. Data analysis uses simple linear regression and the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) absolute difference test to test the moderating effect of e-money transactions. The results of this study indicate that there is no significant effect between the money supply and the inflation rate. However, the moderating role of e-money transactions can significantly strengthen the relationship between the money supply and the inflation rate. This finding suggests that the monetary policy mechanism should consider technological developments that can impact the payment system, thereby providing a basis for more accurate decision-making.

Abstract

This paper examines the impact of digital economy tools on the business performance and empowerment of women entrepreneurs in Beringharjo Market, Yogyakarta. It focuses on how digital bookkeeping, e-commerce, social media advertising, and digital payment systems influence monthly turnover. This research uniquely focuses on women entrepreneurs in a traditional Indonesian market, combining localized data with digital economy analysis. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 143 women entrepreneurs in Beringharjo Market. It employed Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression to analyze the relationship between turnover and four independent variables: digital bookkeeping, e-commerce usage, social media advertising, and digital payment adoption. Digital bookkeeping has the most statistically significant impact on turnover. The results suggest that financial management tools are most effective, while marketing tools offer potential benefits, and payment tools serve more operational roles. Digital payments improve efficiency but do not directly boost revenue. The study supports the advancement of SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), recommending digital literacy programs, improved tech access, and supportive policies to maximize impact.

Abstract

Economic growth in developing countries is often accompanied by an increase in carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. Indonesia, as one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia, deals with a dilemma between driving for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, open trade, and high dependence on fossil energy, all of which lead to serious impacts on environmental quality. This study aims to analyze the effect of GDP, open trade, and fossil energy consumption on Indonesia’s CO₂ emissions in the period 1994–2024 using 31 annual observations. The dataset is primarily obtained from the World Bank’s. The research applies descriptive method with OLS regression. The results indicate that GDP, open trade, and fossil energy consumption have a positive and significant impact on CO₂ emissions. GDP growth drives higher emissions through industrial and economic activities that are not yet fully aligned with environmentally friendly principles. Fossil energy consumption is proven to be the main driver of emissions, while open trade also contributes to rising emissions through the scale effect of economic activities.
