Abstract

The use of contact lenses has become a popular choice for vision correction. However, excessive duration of contact lens wear can affect corneal health and increase the risk of eye complications. This study aims to analyze the effect of contact lens wearing time on corneal health, especially in daily and monthly contact lens users. This research method is a descriptive-analytical study involving 37 respondents who use contact lenses with variations in the duration of use, ranging from 4 to 12 hours per day who have refractive errors and keratometer values (a tool used to measure the curvature of the front surface of the cornea) in the range H range 7.350 mm – 8.25 V 7.10 – 8.10 mm. Data were collected through eye examination using a slit-lamp and measurement of hydration and corneal oxygenation. The moisture content of contact lenses is how much water is in the lens. The higher the moisture content in the contact lenses, the more oxygen reaches the cornea during the wearing of the contact lenses. This study aims to examine the effect of contact lens wearing time on the patient's corneal health, especially from an optometry perspective. The results showed that wearing contact lenses for more than 8 hours per day was significantly correlated with increased symptoms of eye irritation, decreased corneal hydration, and decreased oxygen permeability, potentially leading to complications such as keratitis and dry eye syndrome. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of limiting the time of wearing contact lenses and regular monitoring of eye health for contact lens users to prevent serious complications of the cornea.

Abstract

Hypertension is a high blood pressure disease that commonly occurs in the elderly. Elderly people with hypertension may experience a decline in sleep quality, which can worsen their health condition. A combination of dhikr therapy and soaking feet in warm water is needed as an intervention to improve sleep quality in the elderly. This study aims to analyze the effect of dhikr therapy combined with warm water foot soak therapy on the sleep quality of elderly people with hypertension in the working area of Pekauman Health Center, Banjarmasin. The study is a pre-experimental research with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 15 elderly people with hypertension. The intervention was carried out by soaking the respondents’ feet in water at a temperature of 30-45℃ while performing dhikr for 15-20 minutes in the morning and evening for one week. The hypothesis was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Based on the research results, the majority of respondents were aged ≥60 years (80%), female (53.3%), elementary school graduates (86.6%), unemployed (73.3%), had hypertension for ≥10 years (86.7%), had poor sleep quality before therapy (93.3%), and had good sleep quality after therapy (93.3%). The p-value = 0.000, indicating that Ha is accepted, or there is an effect of dhikr therapy combined with warm water foot soak therapy on the sleep quality of the elderly. The application of the combination of dhikr therapy and warm water foot soak can improve the sleep quality of elderly people with hypertension.

Abstract

One of the problems that occurs in the national family planning program in Indonesia is the low absorption of MKJP. A balanced consultation strategy is part of an effort to improve MKJP. The purpose of this study was to examine the choice of contraceptive methods for postpartum mothers related to the use of SKB-KB at the Ibrahim Adjie Health Center. Ibrahim Adjie Health Center was the location of the study in March–April 2023, which used a retrospective cohort design. A total of 81 postpartum mothers were sampled, selected using the simple random sampling technique. For this data set, we used the chi- square test and the SPSS T test. Although the bivariate analysis did not find a correlation between the application of SKB-KB and the choice of method (p = 0.167), the analysis of the relationship between the choice of method and husband's support showed a correlation (p = 0.001), which indicated a significant relationship. The SKB given to postpartum mothers aims to improve understanding and selection of contraceptive methods according to needs, especially for long-term methods. This counseling method will provide the expected results if it is also given to husbands to improve their understanding of contraceptives.

Abstract

Background: Labor is a significant moment that often causes anxiety and pain in women. This pain results from cervical dilation, uterine contractions, and nerve compression. It typically occurs during the first stage of labor with varying intensity: discomfort at 0-3 cm dilation, sharp pain at 4-7 cm, and severe pain at 7-10 cm. Research by Maslikhanah (2020) indicates that 60% of primiparas and 45% of multiparas report severe pain. Labor pain can prolong the process if not managed properly. To address this, pain management techniques such as birthball exercise are recommended during the first stage of labor. Objective: To determine the effect of Birthball Exercise on reducing pain during the first stage of labor. Method:  The method used involves searching for articles using electronic databases like Google Scholar and PUBMED, with publications from the past 5 years, and keywords including birthball exercise, labor pain, and first stage of labor. Results: There is a reduction in labor pain scores following the implementation of the Birthball Exercise method. Conclusions: Implementing birthball exercise during the first stage of labor can help reduce the intensity of labor pain.
