Abstract

Arabic language learning for students in non-Arabic Education programs faces challenges in creating meaningful and relevant learning experiences. Teaching materials, as one of the key components in learning, often focus more on theory and memorization, failing to provide opportunities for students to apply Arabic in everyday contexts. Therefore, this study aims to design constructivist-based teaching materials that can enhance students' understanding and skills in Arabic. This research uses a qualitative method, conducted at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Kediri, which consists of nine different study programs. By using techniques such as observation, questionnaires, and interviews with students and lecturers, the study deeply analyzes the teaching materials used, the obstacles faced, and the proposed design of teaching materials based on constructivist theory. The results show that the current teaching materials are not contextual and do not support practice-based learning. The main obstacles lie in the lack of variation in teaching methods and the suboptimal use of materials in connecting theory with real-world application. The proposed constructivist-based teaching materials emphasize interactivity, cultural relevance, and the use of technology to create a more engaging and effective learning experience.

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based learning has become an essential need to ensure that education remains relevant to the demands and changes in the world of education. The Arabic Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta implements a hybrid learning model in its learning process. The implementation of the hybrid learning model requires innovations that support learning, one of which is the adoption of a web-based Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) approach. Researchers found that students faced challenges in mastering Arabic speaking skills, including Pronunciation, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Content and Coherence. This study employs a pre-experimental research design using a one-group pre-test and post-test method. Data were collected through oral tests, observations, and interviews. Sampling was conducted using a non-probability sampling technique, specifically purposive sampling, involving 25 first-semester students from Class A of the Arabic Language Education program. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 24. The statistical test results, evidenced by the differences in the mean pre-test and post-test scores through paired sample t-test, show a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00 < 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results are further supported by the N-Gain score test, which shows an average N-Gain score of 71.0214, classified under Hake's category of g > 0.7 as high and Malzer's category of g > 0.7 as moderately effective. Through statistical analysis and testing, it can be concluded that learning using the web-based Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) approach has been proven effective in improving students' speaking skills. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the textbook “Semangat Belajar Bahasa Arab untuk MI Kelas VI by A. Saehudin” based on W.F. Mackey's theory, which includes the criteria of selection, gradation, presentation, and repetition of materials. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with the main sources being content analysis of the Erlangga Kurikulum Merdeka Grade VI textbook and an evaluation of its alignment with W.F. Mackey's theory. The results of the study indicate that the textbook fulfills the selection criteria, with materials relevant to learning objectives, students' proficiency levels, learning time duration, the type of language being studied, and the feasibility of the materials being learned. In terms of gradation, the material is organized in a logical sequence from basic to complex skills. The presentation of the material is contextual but shows weaknesses in its visual aspects. The repetition aspect is sufficiently effective, as evidenced by repetitive exercises and supporting media such as audio materials. The conclusion of the study confirms that this textbook can support Arabic language learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Recommendations are provided to improve the visual quality and diversify the material presentation to make it more engaging and relevant for students.

Abstract

Pesantren are divided into two main categories, namely traditional and modern pesantren. Traditional pesantren use traditional methods that focus on developing receptive skills, while modern pesantren use modern methods that focus on developing productive skills. Pesantren Wadil Ulum Pati integrates traditional methods and modern methods. This pesantren uses traditional methods such as Bandongan and Sorogan to develop receptive skills, as well as modern methods that support the development of productive skills through the Arabic curriculum system. This study aims to analyze the background, form of development, and relevance of the Arabic curriculum in the pesantren. The research method used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through interviews, documents, and questionnaires, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Data validity was tested through triangulation of techniques and sources, as well as expert validation. The results showed that curriculum development is based on philosophical, socio-cultural, religious, scientific foundations, as well as community needs. Philosophical and religious foundations are the dominant factors. Development is carried out in the aspects of objectives, materials, media, strategies, methods, learning activities, and evaluation. In terms of relevance, this curriculum is not only theoretical but also proven practical through various successes. This research is expected to contribute as a reference for Arabic curriculum development in other pesantren in Indonesia.

Abstract

The background of the problem discussed in this article relates to a deep understanding of various schools of thought within psycholinguistics, namely behaviorism, cognitivism, mentalism, constructivism, and nativism. Each of these approaches provides different perspectives on how language processes occur and how individuals learn languages. In the context of language learning, particularly Arabic, understanding these theories is crucial for designing effective teaching methods. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the dynamics of psycholinguistic theories and their relevance in the study of the Arabic language today. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature study (library research), analyzing and summarizing key theories and relevant findings. The analysis results indicate that the behaviorist approach emphasizes the influence of the environment on language learning, while cognitivism focuses on the mental processes involved in understanding and producing language. The mentalism school highlights the internal and innate aspects of human language capacity, whereas nativism argues that language ability is inherent. In the context of Arabic language learning, psycholinguistics plays a significant role. The principles from these various schools can be applied to design more effective teaching methods, taking into account student motivation and individual differences. Although each school has a different approach, they all provide important insights into the complexity and mastery of language. This background underscores the necessity of understanding various psycholinguistic approaches to enhance the effectiveness of language teaching and to provide a theoretical foundation for educators in formulating better instructional strategies.

Abstract

IAIN Takengon is one of the campuses that has multicultural students, among them Gayo, Acehnese, etc. In learning Arabic, the researcher acts as a lecturer. Found various difficulties faced by students. Among them are problems in speaking Arabic which are influenced by the student's mother tongue. So here, the researcher is encouraged to discuss student's difficulties in speaking Arabic. Especially in the Gayo and Acehnese tribes, because the majority of students come from the Gayo tribe, followed by the Acehnese tribe. This study aims to see the difficulties faced by two groups of students who are learning Arabic conversation, namely Gayo and Acehnese student groups, this study uses a comparative method, and the research tools used are observation, questionnaires, and documentation, this study was conducted at IAIN Takengon, Arabic language education and Islamic economics study program with 31 students. The results of the study showed that there were 2 problems faced by Acehnese and Gayo students in speaking Arabic, first: general problems which include not memorizing vocabulary, feeling embarrassed when speaking in front of friends, being afraid of making mistakes in pronunciation, lack of opportunities to practice Arabic in the college environment, not understanding grammar and morphology rules, having no previous language experience and not matching the language of the book with the regional language. The specific problem is that both groups of students, namely Acehnese and Gayo, have difficulty speaking Arabic. The habit of thinking in another language (mother tongue), is influenced by the structure of the mother tongue, and difficulty in adapting some letters of the alphabet, the next problem is that the intonation in Acehnese is very strong so it continues when speaking Arabic, while the intonation in Gayo has no real influence on speaking Arabic.

Abstract

One of the most crucial language abilities is writing. Nonetheless, a lot of students still struggle with writing in Arabic, particularly when it comes to word or phrase construction. This challenge is frequently brought on by language gaps, a lack of knowledge of writing conventions, and structural discrepancies between Arabic and Indonesian. The Structure Analytic Synthetic (SAS) approach is seen to be a good way to get better at writing. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how the SAS approach has affected the writing abilities of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 35 Jakarta. This study employs a pre-experimental design and a quantitative methodology. 16 pupils from class VII 1 are the study's subjects. Written tests were used to collect data both before and after the treatment (pre-test and post-test). The study's findings demonstrate that when the SAS approach was used, pupils' writing abilities significantly improved. Compared to the average pre-test score of 65.81, the average post-test score is higher at 86.43. The significance threshold of 0.05 is exceeded by the paired sample t-test's significance value of 0.001. The SAS approach has been shown to be successful in improving pupils' Arabic writing abilities. Arabic language instructors can use the study's findings as a guide for choosing efficient teaching strategies to help their students become better writers.
