Abstract

This study deals with The Effect of Using Facebook Profile toward the Students’ Writing Skill in Descriptive Text at SMA Negeri 1 Purbatua. The objective of this study is to find out whether Facebook Profile as a medium of learner has significant effect towards the students’ writing skills in descriptive text at SMA N 1 Purbatua. The total of population was 157 students and the researcher took 40 students as the sample of this research. Therefore, the researcher divided the class into two classes, there are experimental class and control class. The experimental class was applying Facebook Profile on the learning process meanwhile the control class was applying conventional. The data were collected by using both pre-test and post-test. The finding showed that the students who taught by using Facebook Profile got higher score than those who taught by conventional. The result showed that there was significant effect of using Facebook Profile on the students’ writing skill in descriptive text was proven for the result of analysis tobserved was higher than ttable (6,47  0.05) and df  38.  It  means the hypothesis alternative (ha) was accepted.Keywords: Facebook Profile, Descriptive Text, Effect

Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the improving of the students’ writing skill of recount text by using Instagram. The subject of this research were the eleventh grade of MAS PAB 2 Helvetia Medan which consisted of 35 students. This research applied classroom action research. The data of this research were qualitative and quantitative data and the instruments of collecting data were used such as: Pre-test and Post-test, interview sheet, observation sheet, and photography evidence. The quantitative data were taken from the test. The test was given to the students in form of pretest, post test in the first cycle, and the post-test in the second cycle. The result of the analyzing the data showed that there was an improving on the students’ writing skill from each cycles. It was showed from the mean of pre-test was 69. Where, there were 12 student got successfull score criteria or it was only 34,2% and 23 students’ got unsuccessful or it was 65,7 %. After doing cycle I by using Instagram, there was an improving of the result of the students’ mean was 73. Where, 17 students got successful criteria score or it was only 48,5% and 18 students’ got unseccessful criteria score or it was 51,4%. Then doing repairing for second cycle after reflection on the first cycle, there was improving of students’ mean was 78. Where, 27 students’ got successful criteria score or it was 77,1% and  8 students’ got unsuccessful criteria score or it was 22,8%. In other words, it could be concluded that the use of Instagram improved the students’ writing skill and their interest in writing.Keywords: Writing, Recount text, Instagram, Improvement

Abstract

The research was conducted to know the significant effect of Pictionary game of students’ writing ability which was observed from the students at the tenth grade of MAS Al-Hasyimiyah Tebing Tinggi. The research method of this paper was quantitative research by using quasi-experimental research. The population of the research was the tenth grade of MAS Al-Hasyimiyah Tebing Tinggi. In taking the sample, the researcher used saturated sampling which took all of the students in the tenth grade. The two classes divided into experimental class and control class. There were 25 students in experimental class and 25 students in control class. In experimental class, the researcher taught by using Pictionary game, meanwhile the control class that used conventional method. In experimental class that was taught by Pictionary game, the increase of the mean score was 21.4 and in control class was taught by conventional method, the increase of the mean score was 5.08. The calculation of T-test by using SPSS v.23 in post-test of both classes, the researcher found that the value of the Sig. score was 0.000. It means that the Sig. core was smaller than 0.005 (0.000 < 0.05). It can be concluded that there were significant differences between the two classes; experimental class and control class. It showed that Pictionary game gave the effect on students’ writing ability at the tenth grade of MAS Al-Hasyimiyah Tebing Tinggi.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the improvement of students’ ability in reading comprehension of Narrative text through Comic book in grade X MAS Raudhatul Akmal. The subject of this study was grade X MAS Raudhatul Akmal. It was consisted of 20 students. This research applied by Class Room Action Research. The technique of analysing data of this research was applied by using descriptive technique. The qualitative data was taken from diary notes, interview and observation sheet. The quantitative data was taken from the test. The result of the analysis showed that mean of the pre-test was 68,5, the mean of cycle I was 76 and the mean of cycle II was 82,5. The percentage of the students who got point up 75 also grew up, in the pre-test, the student who got point up 75 were only 2 of 20 students (8%). In the post-test I of cycle I, the students who got up 75 there were 11 of 20 students (55%). In the post test II, students who got up 75 there were 17 of 20 students (85%). The improvement of the Pre-Test to the Post-Test of cycle I was 77% and the improvement of Pre-test of cycle I to the post-test of cycle II was about 30%. From the data it indicate that the implementation of comic book was effective and from the data above it could be concluded that the students ability reading comprehension have been developed by using comic book. It’s related to the result of observation showed that the students were more interested and motivated in joining the class and they were enthusiastic during teaching learning process. They asked what they didn’t know, they gave response. The students were active, and they seemed enjoy discussion during teaching process.Keywords: Reading Comprehension, action research, Narrative Text, Comic Book

Abstract

This research aimed to find out The Effect of Direct Interaction Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text at the Eight Grade of MTS Ponpes Darul Quran Medan in 2020/2021 Academic Year. The population of the research was the eight grade student that amount 53 students consist of two classes. The research methodology was an experimental research, which conducted the experimental class (VII1 -1 ) and control class (VII1-2) as sample. The result of the research shown that The Effect of Direct Interaction Strategy In Teaching Reading Comprehension at Eight Grade of MTS Ponpes Darul Quran Medan in 2020/2021 Academic Year can be describe as below: the average of the score 76,55 with the highest score is 92 and the lowest score is 62 (by using Direct Interaction Strategy) and the average of the score is 59,45 with the highest score is 86 and the lowest score is 54 (by using Conventional Method)The test consist of two types, namely pre-test and post-test, the data were analized by using t-test formula. After analyzing the data, the result of the research show that the value of t-count wash higher than the value of t-table 11,277> 2,000 at the level significant of a =0.05 and at the degree of freedom (df)= 51. It was indicated there is the significant effect of direct interaction strategy in teaching reading comprehension, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and hypothesis (Ho) was rejected.
