Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the communication skills and TOEIC scores of D3 Mechanical Engineering students at PSDKU Politeknik Negeri Malang in Kediri City. The background of this activity is the low level of communication skills and English proficiency among engineering students, which has the potential to hinder learning and mastery of the material. The training methods used include blended learning, project-based learning, collaborative learning, and intensive TOEIC training. The participants in the training were final semester students who needed to improve their English skills. The results showed an average increase in TOEIC scores of 150 points and a significant improvement in communication skills, confidence, and readiness to enter the workforce. However, there were still obstacles in listening skills and grammar mastery. Overall, this program has proven to be effective and can be provided to other groups of students to support the improvement of graduate quality who are better prepared to face the national and international workforce.

Abstract

The protection and empowerment of people with disabilities is a crucial effort to ensure the fulfillment of basic rights and the opportunity to participate equally in social life. In Islam, every individual has equal dignity and has the right to be treated fairly without discrimination. Islamic values such as musawah (equality), i'tidal (justice), and tasamuh (tolerance) serve as the normative foundation for supporting the protection and empowerment of people with disabilities. This community service activity was carried out using a descriptive, participatory approach involving the local government, groups of people with disabilities, and the local community. The objective of this activity was to describe and support the implementation of policies and programs for the protection and empowerment of people with disabilities in Tengaran District, Semarang Regency, while also identifying concrete steps to achieve a more inclusive life. The results of the activity indicate that the empowerment efforts undertaken by the Tengaran Disability Group and the community have been successful, including through sewing skills training, a ready-to-eat, nutritious, healthy meal program, and the provision of employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has given rise to new problems in the form of misuse of digital financial services. Some examples include illegal online lending (pinjol) and online gambling. Teenagers, who frequently use digital technology, are highly vulnerable to unregulated illegal pinjol and judol practices not supervised by the OJK. The objective of this initiative is to raise teenagers' awareness of the dangers of illegal lending and online gambling through an educational approach that is both enjoyable and participatory. The implementation methods included face-to-face counseling, case discussions, and interactive question-and-answer sessions held in Mekikis Village, Purwoasri Subdistrict, involving 35 teenagers. The materials presented included an introduction illegal online lending and online gambling, their illegal characteristics, psychological and social effects, and prevention methods. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding, marked by active engagement in discussions, the ability to recognize the characteristics of illegal online lending, and a commitment to share information with family and the surrounding community. Thus, this educational program was effective in building digital literacy and critical awareness among teenagers about the dangers of illegal online lending and online gambling.
