Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of discovery learning assisted by molecular simulations in improving translational ability at the same level on stoichiometric topic. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental with purposive sampling data collection techniques. The population in this study were all students in class XI Science at SMA Negeri 2 Metro for the 2022/2023 academic year. Class X IPA 2 was the experimental class while class XI IPA 3 as the control class. The increase in translational ability at the same level was measured based on the significant difference in the n-gain average in the experimental class and the control class. The research results showed that the n-gain average of students in the experimental class was 0.6 in high criteria, while the n-gain average of students in the control class was 0.53 in medium criteria. Based on the difference test, the translational ability at the same level of students in the experimental class was higher than in the control class. It can be concluded that discovery learning assisted by molecular simulations was effective in improving translation abilities at one level of chemical representation in stoichiometric topic. Keywords: discovery learning, molecular simulation, translation ability at one level chemical representation, stoichiometry

Abstract

Abstract: This program was designed to bolster high school teachers' expertise in applying the case method to math and science instruction. Over six months, 19 teachers from Lampung Province participated in a structured series of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions. The pretest and posttest evaluations highlighted significant gains in both conceptual understanding and the ability to develop case-based teaching materials. Participants were also trained to design student worksheets with digital tools like Canva, integrating scientific and socio-scientific scenarios into their lessons. By doing so, the program nurtured critical thinking, problem-solving, and environmental awareness among educators and their students. By equipping teachers with effective strategies for embedding real-world cases into their teaching, the initiative has taken a meaningful step toward advancing innovative practices in chemistry education and other scientific disciplines. To amplify its impact, expanding the program to additional regions and incorporating more classroom simulations is recommended. Such steps would further refine teachers' skills and boost student engagement with complex scientific topics. Emphasizing creativity, critical thinking, and real-world connections, this initiative represents a significant stride in enhancing high school science education. Keywords: case-based instruction, high school teachers, socioscientific issues.

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the role of the Language Acquisition Device (LAD) theory in second language acquisition within the context of Arabic language learning through a psycholinguistic perspective. Using a descriptive qualitative research method and a literature review approach, this research analyzes various relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that Noam Chomsky's LAD theory significantly impacts second language acquisition, particularly Arabic. LAD serves as an innate mechanism enabling humans to acquire languages naturally. In the context of Arabic learning, the implementation of LAD theory encompasses three primary factors: motivation, language, and social aspects. Psycholinguistic studies reveal that cognitive processes such as memory and information processing play pivotal roles in acquiring Arabic. This study also found that communicative-based learning approaches, using real-life contexts and social interaction with native speakers, are effective strategies in Arabic language learning. The integration of technology and project-based learning can enrich students' learning experiences. In conclusion, a deeper understanding of LAD theory and its application in Arabic language learning can contribute significantly to the development of more effective teaching methods, enabling students to master Arabic more efficiently in an increasingly complex global context.     Keywords: language acquisition device, psycholinguistics, arabic language learning, second language acquisition.

Abstract

Abstract: Junior high school education is an important phase in student development, especially in exploring interests, talents and career choices. Students need appropriate and structured career information to help them make better decisions regarding their future. However, the existing media is often uninteresting or irrelevant, which cannot support students in recognizing various career options. This study aims to implement the RIASEC Model Career Guidance Guide through career information services at SMPN 2 Pallangga. With a descriptive qualitative approach and narrative method, data were collected through direct interviews with counseling teachers and documentation. The research subjects were 10 9th grade students. The results showed that the implementation of career information services with the assistance of counseling teachers as facilitators. The implementation process focuses on four main aspects: service delivery strategies, stages of implementation, RIASEC-based career guidance content, and media utilization in the form of booklets. This implementation has a positive impact on increasing students' understanding of career planning and helping them recognize their interests and talents. The RIASEC-based guide proved to be relevant as an effective medium to support career information services in schools.   Keywords: information services, career guidance, RIASEC model, guide implementation.

Abstract

Abstract: In the contemporary landscape characterized by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), the profession of librarianship is experiencing a noteworthy transformation, thereby necessitating a re-evaluation and re-branding of the role in order to maintain its relevance. Librarians are transitioning from their traditional role as custodians of physical books to emerging as essential stakeholders in the domains of digital literacy, privacy, and information ethics. They currently fulfill the roles of information strategists, data analysts, and educators, demonstrating proficiency in navigating intricate digital environments. Notwithstanding these advancements, public perception frequently remains outdated, perceiving librarians primarily as engaged in rudimentary administrative activities. This stereotype inhibits the recognition of their extensive contributions to society. Re-branding initiatives center on emphasizing the evolving roles of librarians, which encompass the management of comprehensive digital resources and the promotion of critical information literacy within the context of the artificial intelligence era. The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at the University of Lampung (Unila), in conjunction with the Association of Indonesian Political Science Students (ATPUSI), has commenced the implementation of training programs aimed at facilitating the re-branding efforts of the institution. These initiatives aim to enhance the digital competencies of librarians and transform public perceptions by positioning them as crucial facilitators in the process of knowledge dissemination. The results of the training indicate a significant enhancement in participants' comprehension of personal re-branding, thereby suggesting the efficacy of these initiatives in preparing librarians with the requisite skills for a future increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence.   Keywords: librarian re-branding, artificial intelligence (AI) era, librarian skill improvement.

Abstract

Abstract: Teacher engagement represents a teacher's alignment with their organization, characterized by physical, emotional, and rational commitment, fostering satisfaction and dedication to their profession. This study investigates strategies to enhance teacher engagement by analyzing the influence of self-efficacy, interpersonal communication, organizational culture, and job satisfaction. Employing a quantitative approach, the research uses path analysis to explore variable relationships and the SITOREM method to prioritize indicators for targeted interventions. Data were collected through surveys administered to 168 permanent teachers from PGRI vocational high schools in Bogor Regency, selected using the Slovin formula. The findings demonstrate that self-efficacy, interpersonal communication, and organizational culture significantly impact teacher engagement, both directly and indirectly, through job satisfaction. Organizational culture emerged as the most influential factor, highlighting the critical role of fostering a supportive, adaptive, and value-oriented work environment. SITOREM analysis identified actionable priorities, including enhancing teacher self-efficacy through vicarious experiences and verbal persuasion and strengthening organizational culture by promoting innovation and inclusivity. This study advances educational management by providing evidence-based recommendations for fostering teacher engagement. It underscores the necessity of integrating strategies that enhance individual capabilities and organizational dynamics to cultivate a motivated and committed teaching workforce. However, as the research is confined to vocational school teachers in one region, further studies are needed to validate and generalize these findings across diverse educational settings.    Keywords: teacher engagement, self-efficacy, interpersonal communication, organizational culture, job satisfaction.
