Abstract

Street children are the children who spend most of their time doing activities that are daily living on the streets, whether for a life or just wandering around other public areas. Usually the age of street children between 5 years to 18 years, the appearance is dull and look unmanaged, causing a lack of attention to the cleanliness of the tooth and mouth. This type of research is descriptive, the respondent that is taken is the whole team and the Of Street Children’s Community Without Border Bandung. The of Samples taken as much as 16 people obtained data is presented in the form of frequency distribution table. The result showed that the result of an OHI-S index of 9 people (55%) Those have good criteria (OHI-S), and 7 responden 45%) have moderate criteria. This Index should be maintained and would be better if improved from being good, it is influenced by the lack of information/education, understanding and awareness of each respondent. Abstract

Street children are children who spend most of their time on the streets working, playing or doing other activities. Street children live on the streets because they have been dumped or dumped by families who cannot afford the burden of poverty, most of their time is spent on the streets, so paying attention to their oral health is very limited. This type of research is descriptive research. The study population was all street children in the Bandung Boundary Community. The research sample was taken by accidental sampling technique with a total sample of 7 people. Data obtained from the results of the questionnaire respondents regarding knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of oral health. After that, the data generated is processed, and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results showed that the results of the knowledge questionnaire score had good criteria, while attitudes and behavioral scores contained moderate criteria, it showed that the description of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of dental and oral health of street children must be maintained at a moderate criteria, and would be better if improved from being good, it is influenced by factors of understanding and awareness of each respondent

Abstract

The elderly have a decline in their body’s resistance that makes them susceptible to diseases, include the oral disease. The condition of dental and oral health in elderly tends to be very bad and less attention, whereas oral health can affect general health and decrease their quality of life. This study study aims to get description of DMF-T and OHI-S index in elderly. This type of research is descriptive with literature study method, by studying and analyzing data obtained from journals, books, and other references. Based on the results of literature study, the mean score of DMF-T index of elderly in several cities of Indonesia is 17 on very high category. This score shows that every elderly have 17 missed, filled and decay teeth due to caries. OHI-S score with good criteria as many as 17 people (7,3%), 117 people showed moderate criteria (50,2%), and 99 people showed a bad criteria (42,5%). Therefore elderly people need to applying clean and healthy behavior pattern, especially in oral health to avoid illness and its severity of elderly. The conclusion of this study is DMF-T index in elderly has 17 mean score on very high category, with OHI-S score on moderate criteria. Key words: Dental and Oral Health, Elderly

Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF DENTAL AND ORAL HEALTH STATUS IN DISCJOKEY SOCIETIES Julitah ¹ , Tri Widyastuti ² Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Politeknik Kesehatan Bandung ABSTRACT The health status of person’s teeth and mouth is influenced by four factors namely heredity, environment (physical, biology, social), behavior, and health services. Of four factors, behavior affects and plays an important role in direct oral and dental hygiene. The behavior of e Discjokey at night tends not to pay attention to the maintenance of healthy teeth and mouth such as brushing teeth that are less regular and often smoking ang drinking alcohol in high levels. This study aims to determine the picture of dental and oral health status in discjokey association. The type of research used is a literature study that is a picture of the health status of teeth and mouth in the discjokey association which measured in caries experience index (OHI-S, DMF-T, PTI, RTI). The results showed 15% of respondents have criteria OHI-s well, 85% criteria OHI-S moderate, in addition to the results the criteria of DMF-T showed 10% is very low, 40% low, 40% moderate, 5% higher, 5% very high. Beside that the results of 100% PTI criteria with a bad category, while for the results of the criteria of 98% RTI which is relatively high. Abstract

Saliva is instrumental in the health of the oral cavity. Saliva serves for tissue lubrication in the oral cavity, protects the tissues in the oral cavity so as to avoid abrasion as the zhevanijam progresses, and Saliva also helps maintain the stability of the buffer system in the oral cavity. Elderly tend to have less saliva volumes due to the degenracy of organs in the saliva gland. In saliva secretions less than 0.06 ml/min (3 ml/h) will arise dry mouth complaints. The study aims to figure out the description of the saliva volume in the elderly. The method used in this research is the study of literary studies, which is research conducted through the collection of data that is library. The data taken for this research is secondary data from some research. The results of this study showed that the higher the age of saliva volume will continue to decline. Key words: elderly, saliva
