Abstract

This study examines the determinants of loan repayment among microfinance institutions (MFIs) among their 384 microenterprises. The research found that age, gender, marital status, educational level, business experience, family size, type of business, interest rate, profit level, lending method, training/business enhancement program, and loan repayment time are not significant determinants of loan repayment among MEs in the study area. Prompt loan repayment can encourage cordial relationships between MFIs and their customers, and thus, MFIs and stakeholders should consider these significant variables when extending loans to their clients. This highlights the importance of timely loan repayment for MFIs' survival and growth.

Abstract

This position paper took a cursory view of corruption, examined adult education, assessed corruption in formal adult education and highlighted the implications for sustainable national development in Nigeria. The paper concluded that concerted efforts must be put in place in order to curb the menace of corruption in adult education. Adult education is the poorest sector in education in terms of allocation of financial resources. Government allocates meagre financial resources annually to adult education organizations, yet corrupt financial practices are perpetrated by the operators of adult education institutions in Nigeria. There is equally the challenge of cheating in examination and examination malpractice. These have stifled the developmental needs of the country to be provided by adult education. It was suggested that the EFCC and ICPC should beam their searchlight on adult education sector of education with a view to recovering stolen funds arresting and prosecuting offenders of embezzlement and misappropriation of education funds; adult learners found guilty of corrupt practices should have their admission revoked; adult educators found guilty of the monetary extortion should be relieved of their jobs; and government should make it as a point of duty to allocate 3% of her education budget to adult education annually.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of cashless policy on the Nigerian rural economy, using Akwa Ibom State as a case study. A survey of 328 people from three senatorial districts was conducted, with a sample size of 400. The study found that cashless policy helps in tracking expenses, preventing cash flow outside the formal banking system, reducing money laundering, and reducing stress during payments. However, challenges such as inadequate payment channels, internet fraud exposure, poor electronic banking networks, and high charges hinder its implementation. The researchers urge the government and policymakers to provide reliable methods to combat internet fraud, reduce charges on electronic banking platforms, and educate the public on the benefits of cashless policies.

Abstract

This paper examines the political stability, corruption, and economic progress of the nations that make up the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) between 2000 and 2020. To prevent misspecification bias and therefore skewed statistical results, the common features of the panel data were examined first. First of all, the CD test did not find any evidence of cross-sectional dependency across the nations, validating the use of the conventional panel unit root, which does not account for cross-sectional dependence. According to Levin et al. (2002)'s panel unit root test, the variables are integrated of order zero, or I (0).Using the panel VAR framework as a basis, the paper investigates. Emotional intelligence data demonstrated that while corruption impedes regional economic growth, political stability and the rule of law foster it. According to the findings of variance decomposition, the factors under investigation either support or impede the WAMZ countries' economic development. Based on the results the paper recommends that, transparency and accountability at all level of government affairs as well as respecting the constitution in these nations should be preserved in order to overcome all social and political injustice among the countries under study.

Abstract

The study aimed to understand the role of administrators in enhancing the performance of facilitators in open and distance learning centers in Rivers State. The study involved 73 facilitators, 41 males and 32 females, from study centers in Port Harcourt and Iriebe. A structured questionnaire was used, validated by experts in Measurement and Evaluation and the Department of Educational Management at Rivers State University. Key findings revealed that facilitators lack proficiency in using information and communication tools, irregular allowances undermine motivation, and inadequate facilities do not align with the increasing student population. The study recommends effective collaboration between administrators and facilitators to improve facilitator performance.
