Abstract

Pemilihan umum atau yang sering disebut Pemilu adalah sarana kedaulatan rakyat untuk memilih anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, anggota Dewan Perwakilan Daerah, Presiden dan Wakil Presiden, dan untuk memilih anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah, yang dilaksanakan secara langsung, umum, bebas, rahasia, jujur, dan adil dalam Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia berdasarkan Pancasila dan Undang-Undang Dasar Negara Republik Indonesia Tahun 1945. Berdasarkan UU RI No 7 Tahun 2017, pemilu 2019 menggunakan konversi suara menjadi kursi dengan menggunakan “Pembagi Bilangan Ganjil” (Sainte Lague) untuk mewujudkan nilai-nilai keadilan dalam distribusi kursi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan teori keadilan John Rawls. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa sistem konversi Sainte Lague (Pembagi Bilangan Ganjil) dapat menghasilkan distribusi kursi yang lebih memenuhi asas keadilan dibanding konversi suara dengan sistem kuota hare (Bilangan pembagi pemilih/BPP), akan tetapi terdapat ketidakadilan pada bebarapa daerah pemilihan di tingkat provinsi dan Kabupaten/kota, dimana masih ada perbedaan prosentase suara dan prosentase kursi yang besar di beberapa daerah pemilihan.

Abstract

The position of Russian President Vladimir Putin in starting the war in Ukraine proceeds from political realism or the imperial ambition of global powers. The propensity for conflict governs the global political order. President Putin thinks that the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is an existential threat as far as Russia is concerned. In the absence of a universal standard of justice in the world, Russia thinks that it was justifiable to invade Ukraine. NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg has argued that the right thing to do is to prevent Russia from imposing its will on a sovereign country. But while the West is trying to find a way to help Ukraine on moral and political grounds, it can be argued that the US and some of its Allies are a complicit to the absence of justice in the world. The reason is that the conflict in Ukraine also reveals the hypocrisy of the US when it comes to its own wars, for instance, in Iraq and Afghanistan. I argue from the perspective of global justice. I believe that the moral position is for President Putin to acknowledge his mistake but at the same time, the moral endgame should not appear as if the West has won this proxy war but for the world to finally realize the primacy of the respect for human rights and the dignity of peoples over all forms of hegemonic power.

Abstract

Africa is very rich both in human and natural resources. However, despite this, she is poor, undeveloped and impoverished as a result of crises, such as: political, religious, ethnic, cultural among others, which of course, affect her peace and quest for development. It is instructive and expedient to point it out that, no society can develop under strife, whatever may be the its source. A society that is conflict-ridden is not likely to get the peace that is predominantly necessary for development in all spheres of human activity. In order to achieve its intended objective, the paper discusses peace, conflict resolutions, meaning, features and dimensions of development. Also, some proposed recommendations are equally made. The paper concludes that, for Africa to develop, and join the comity of nations, there should be conflict resolutions and peace, this is because, peace is a necessary ingredient, sine qua non, hallmark and a great catalyst for true and all-round development.

Abstract

This research originated from the author's interest in seeing the 2020 Surabaya Regional Head Election which was held concurrently with the Covid-19 Pandemic. The formulation of the problem from this research is how is the political awareness of the people of the Medokan Ayu Village in the 2020 Surabaya Regional Head Election, what is the strategy carried out by the (KPU) Surabaya City Election Commission to increase public interest in voting during a pandemic, what efforts have been made by candidate pairs or political parties to invite the public to vote during a pandemic, and how the people of the Medokan Ayu Village interpret political awareness from the invitation of the KPU and candidate pairs or political parties in the 2020 Surabaya City elections. Researchers used a qualitative research method with a case study approach. In qualitative research, researchers used data collection techniques by interviewing and documentation as well as Paul Goren's theory of political values and political awareness. From the research findings, it was discovered that the political awareness of the community in Medokan Ayu Subdistrict, Surabaya City, is already good, but it is not yet optimal and does not meet the target set by the Surabaya City Election Commission (KPU). There are several factors that contribute to the increase in political awareness among the community in Medokan Ayu Subdistrict, including: political socialization conducted by the Surabaya City Election Commission, political socialization by political parties, and the campaign activities of the mayoral and vice-mayoral candidates. The Surabaya City Election Commission has implemented political socialization strategies through social media and electronic media, but it needs to be evaluated further to effectively reach all levels of society and make them understand the importance of political awareness. Both pairs of candidates and their supporting parties have conducted campaigns through social media, but it often feels like a formality. The content created does not seem to resonate with the Surabaya community. The candidates prefer direct interactions with the community, despite limitations on the number of people they can meet. Virtual campaigns using online media are not yet 100% optimal and need to be re-evaluated to maximize reaching new voters.

Abstract

The National Sports Fair (PON) is the Indonesian Games, which basically has an aim to improve the expectations of Indonesian athletes. This national sports weekend was organized for the purpose of maintaining unity and unity of the nation, housing potentially athlete seeds in appropriate sports charts 17,2017. The Central Government has a responsibility to organize the pounds and is carried out by the youth and sports ministry (Kenya) who assign to the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) as its organizer. In Indonesia, badminton sports are quite popular in many communities, where badminton is often played by people’s sports because they are often played by people from urban or rural communities and played by adults, children, boys and girls. Althought badminton is not as popular as football, badminton sports have enough charm to attract Indonesian attendees to play badminton. Some Indonesians who like badminton sports are at the same time as whether they spend hours in front of television or in the stands. The study is a study using a descriptive qualitative study method that reviewed through interviews and observations with public-policy implementation theories.
