Abstract

This research pays attention to the existence and activities of the Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng Red Troop (TBBR). With its commitments: uniting the Dayak community, caring for nature, preserving Dayak customs and culture, defending and fighting for the dignity of fellow Dayak people who are often oppressed by injustice, it has become a special attraction for young Dayak people to join. These commitments certainly deserve high appreciation. However, it is deemed necessary to conduct a study from the perspective of the Catholic faith on their existence and activities. The basic reason is based on empirical facts, namely that Pangalangok Jilah, the Commander in Chief, and most of the troop members embraced Catholicism. Therefore, this research believes that the solidarity and compassion of the TBBR Red Troop must also be based on Christian values and teachings. Through literature studies, especially Magisterium teachings and Church documents as well as several supporting sources, this research does not focus only on providing critical input and note. Since what the TBBR Red Troop is committed to is also part of the Church's commitment, this research also offers what kind of attitude the local Church should take when dealing with this particular community.

Abstract

This paper focuses on exploring the role of women in the Roko Molas Poco rite in Manggarai. This study applies a discourse approach by referring to Simone de Beauvoir's concept of feminism. She views women as "the Other," often an object in a patriarchal society. The patriarchal system adopted by the Manggaraians is deeply rooted and thus influences the treatment of women. Femininity has a very important meaning in this rite, because the wood called siri bongkok (main pole) is symbolized as virgin who will provide life, offspring, fertility for humans. It’s a symbol that connects humans with nature and humans with each other and humans with the Supreme Being. This rite in itself affirms the high appreciation for the existence of women as Simone de Beaouvoir. The concept of womanhood in the Roko Molas Poco rite is a living critique of the patriarchal system that oppresses and otherizes women.

Abstract

This study discusses the appreciation of religious religiosity in modern society and how religion as a religiosity of society plays a role in the world of modern life. Jürgen Habermas argues that religion is a social fact that has never disappeared from human civilization even though the world has experienced various changes in secular modern civilization. People still pray diligently and carry out various teachings from religion. But today, religion is questioned because it does not have a meaningful contribution to the world. For this reason, this study will explore religion as religiosity so that a contribution to the world of universal life can be found. This study uses qualitative research methods by applying literature studies. The object of study of this study is analyzed collaboratively; analyzing religion from an anthropological point of view and collaborated with Jürgen Habermas' philosophical views on religion. By applying a collaborative study, this study finds that religion as religiosity has a functional and substantial capacity to restore life in the midst of modernity that has lost its human orientation. The contribution of this study is some principles that must be considered in religion as an orientation in the pace of development of an increasingly modern world.

Abstract

The focus in this article is to discuss the eroded brotherhood of the Manggarai people according to Gabriel Marcel's concept of Communion in the midst of the presence of the sida culture. The sida culture is a form of respect from the anak wina (sister) to the anak rona (brother) in various important events. The honor is given in the form of participation to relieve dependents in the form of money or goods. This culture has noble values that emphasize the importance of harmonious relationships between humans and each other. This research uses a comparative literature study method to explore the relationship between the Sida culture and Marcel's concept of fellowship. The findings of this study are that Sida culture and Marcel's concept of communion both initiate participation as the basis of communion. However, in Sida culture, communion is based on familial relations, while in Marcel's view, communion is based on intersubjective relations. This intersubjective relationship is what makes people open up to each other and understand each other.
