Abstract

This community service program was carried out in RT 24 RW 4, Pematang Gubernur Subdistrict, Bengkulu City, with the objective of empowering local residents in managing household organic waste through the production of eco-enzyme and the use of a stacked-bucket biocompost reactor. The initiative began with field observations, followed by the construction of a biocompost reactor a week before the main training session. The socialization event took place at the residence of the RT head, was attended by local citizens, and featured a resource person from Yayasan Sehati Bengkulu. During the activity, participants learned directly how to make eco-enzyme using kitchen waste and how to operate a simple compost reactor made from used plastic buckets. Although the final results of the organic fertilizer were not yet visible due to the fermentation process requiring a longer time, the activity successfully increased residents’ awareness, participation, and understanding. This program highlighted that managing organic waste at the household level using simple and low-cost tools can contribute to environmental sustainability and economic resilience for families by enabling self-production of fertilizers.

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness is an important aspect in creating a healthy and comfortable quality of life for the community. One of the main problems that affects cleanliness is ineffective waste management, many people do not have full awareness in disposing of waste in its place, thus causing environmental pollution. To overcome this, the implementation of the 3R principle (reduce, Reuse, Recycle) is the right solution in managing waste sustainably. One effort that can be made is to utilize used drums as economical and environmentally friendly trash bins. This innovation not only reduces waste but also increases public awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness. The community welcomes the provision of trash bins in their residential areas.

Abstract

Rt 09 Rw 05 in the Pematang Gubernur village holds great potential in the field of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). However, this potential has not yet been fully explored and recognized by the wider community. Seeing this opportunity, students conducting Community Service (KKN) in Rt 09 Rw 05 initiated an innovative program, which includes the installation of map points and the posting of banners design for MSMEs. This program aims to highlight the village's potential and to introduce superior products to a broader audience. In the era of digitalization, MSMEs still do not understand how to place their Google Maps location as one of the economic drivers of developing countries. Micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) have a significant role. With the existence of MSMEs, in this activity, KKN students provide training and direct assistance to MSME owners to operate the step-by-step registration of their business on Google Maps so that its visibility can be seen by the public. Through the implementation of this work program, it is expected that MSME owners can better understand and appreciate the importance of digitalization in managing their businesses. By utilizing digital technology, MSME players will make it easier for potential customers to find their business locations more effectively and efficiently. This is expected to positively impact the increase in sales volume and expand their market reach. In addition, this program aims to improving the efficiency and productivity of MSMEs, allowing them to optimize existing resources and minimize waste. With digitization, MSMEs can also create significant added value at the village level, contributing to local economic growth and strengthening their position in an increasingly competitive market. Through this approach, it is hoped that MSMEs can not only survive but also grow and compete effectively in the digital era.

Abstract

The Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Betungan Village, Bengkulu City, focuses on the development of environment-based entrepreneurship through the processing of household waste into products of economic value. The main activities include training in making compost from organic waste, making decorative plant pots from used materials, and community empowerment in creative recycling. The goal of this program is to reduce the volume of waste while increasing the income of local communities through the concept of social entrepreneurship in the environmental field. Implementation methods include education, participatory training, and small business mentoring. Results showed the community's enthusiasm in processing organic waste into compost and inorganic waste into craft products, with promising economic potential. A simple SWOT analysis indicated strengths in the availability of waste raw materials and community support, opportunities in the form of increasing demand for environmentally friendly products, but weaknesses such as limited business skills and threats from business sustainability. This service-learning activity concluded that environmental initiatives can be developed into local business opportunities through social entrepreneurship, with the support of further training and stakeholder collaboration.
