Abstract

Stunting (chronic malnutrition) remains a serious public health challenge in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 21.6% (2022) above the WHO threshold (20%). While interventions are intensive during the First 1000 Days of Life, management during the school-age period (the second golden phase) is often neglected. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of nutritional education intervention and hands-on practice through a Shared Breakfast Program in Elementary Schools (SD) in improving nutritional knowledge and stunting prevention. This community service activity used a simple pre-test and post-test design with a participatory education method on 49 students from grades 1 to 3 at Talang Bukit Hutabayu State Elementary School. The material focused on the dangers of stunting, the concept of Balanced Nutrition (Isi Piringku or My Plate Content), and the importance of breakfast. The results showed a significant increase in students' knowledge levels, with average score improvements ranging from 23.6% to 33.5% between the pre-test and post-test. The greatest improvement occurred in Grade 1 students. The Shared Breakfast Program proved effective as a live laboratory that transformed abstract nutritional concepts into tangible practice. The intervention not only enhanced nutritional literacy but also built awareness of the link between a healthy breakfast and learning concentration. It is recommended that a comprehensive nutrition program, supported by continuous teacher training and active parental involvement, be integrated into the school curriculum to ensure the sustainability of healthy behavior changes

Abstract

The mosque holds a strategic role in the life of Muslims, not only as a place of worship but also as a center for social activities and economic empowerment. This community service program aims to assist mosque administrators in developing their economic potential through entrepreneurship training and the establishment of micro-enterprise units within mosque communities. The activity was conducted in Mandailing Natal Regency using a participatory approach based on the real needs of congregants. The results show that the program succeeded in establishing a special division within the Mosque Prosperity Council (BKM) responsible for managing community economic empowerment initiatives. There was a noticeable improvement in the understanding and skills of mosque administrators regarding Islamic economic concepts, micro-enterprise management, and digital marketing. The program also encouraged greater initiative among mosque congregants to optimize local economic resources, as seen through the emergence of mosque-based economic activities such as entrepreneurship training, local product bazaars, and the development of congregation-based business groups. These findings demonstrate that mosques can function effectively as economic centers capable of improving community welfare when supported by professional management and active participation from congregants.

Abstract

Community service activities in Afdeling 1 Rantauprapat Village, which will be held in August 2025, aim to improve digital literacy skills, strengthen business legality, and optimize the potential of local assets to strengthen the community's economy. This program is implemented using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which emphasizes the development of internal community strengths through the use of existing social, economic, and cultural assets. The activity process was carried out for one month by involving ten participants consisting of business actors, village officials, and students who acted as facilitators through the service-learning method. Activities include practical digital literacy training, business legality assistance through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, and the establishment of a collaborative network between participants and related institutions. The results showed a significant increase in the participants' ability to utilize digital technology for product promotion and sales, with an average increase in turnover of 25% and a participation rate of 95%. In addition, this activity has a positive impact on increasing confidence, legal awareness, and women's active involvement in productive economic activities. The application of the ABCD method has proven effective in strengthening social solidarity, building trust between stakeholders, and creating empowerment models that can be replicated in other regions with similar socioeconomic characteristics.

Abstract

Environmental awareness among coastal communities in Batahan District still faces various challenges, particularly those related to waste management, coastal ecosystem degradation, and low levels of environmental literacy. These issues are compounded by the limited availability of waste processing facilities, the lack of continuous environmental education, and the persistent habit of littering found in several coastal areas. Responding to these concerns, the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program carried out a community service initiative focused on fostering environmental awareness through participatory, dialogic, and educational communication approaches. This community engagement activity was designed using a qualitative research method to explore the community’s needs and identify the most effective communication patterns. The program included educational sessions on the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems, ecological campaigns disseminated through local social media platforms, and direct assistance to coastal community groups in developing relevant environmental programs. This approach not only emphasized the delivery of information but also encouraged active involvement of community members at every stage, making the educational process more meaningful and easily accepted. The results of the activity indicate a significant increase in community understanding regarding the importance of preserving coastal environments, including awareness of the dangers of plastic waste and harmful fishing practices. Community participation in coastal clean-up activities also improved, marked by the establishment of village-level environmental awareness groups. This initiative demonstrates that effective communication, particularly interpersonal and group communication, plays a crucial role in encouraging sustainable ecological behavior change within coastal communities

Abstract

Community service is the implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) which aims to make a real contribution to improving the quality of life of the community. This community service activity was carried out by lecturers and students as a form of synergy between the campus and families in an effort to improve the nutrition of early childhood. The location of the activity was at the Al-Hikmah Sukaraya Islamic Early Childhood Education Center with the main targets being the parents of students and early childhood educators. Nutrition problems in early childhood are still commonly found, including unbalanced diets, habits of consuming instant foods, and a lack of understanding among parents regarding their children’s nutritional needs. Through this activity, lecturers and students conducted nutrition education, interactive discussions, and assistance in preparing healthy menus that are in accordance with the needs of early childhood and Islamic values. The results of the community service showed an increase in parents’ and educators’ understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition and an increase in families’ awareness of forming healthy eating habits for children from an early age. This activity is expected to become a model for collaborative community service by lecturers and students that is sustainable and has a direct impact on improving the health of early childhood

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the creativity of Fiqh teachers in order to improve students’ learning motivation at MTs Dinul Hasanah Rokan Hilir. The program was designed using a participatory and collaborative approach, involving teachers actively in all stages of the activities. The implementation process began with problem identification through classroom observations and needs analysis, followed by the preparation of training materials focused on creative and innovative teaching strategies. The training was conducted through socialization sessions, interactive workshops, and simulations that allowed teachers to practice student-centered, contextual, and technology-integrated learning methods. Evaluation was carried out using pre- and post-tests, reflective interviews, and continuous mentoring to assess teachers’ pedagogical improvement and the application of newly acquired techniques in classroom practice. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ instructional creativity, confidence, and ability to design engaging learning activities. Furthermore, students showed increased motivation, participation, and enthusiasm during Fiqh lessons after the implementation of creative teaching strategies. Overall, the program demonstrates that creativity-enhancement training combined with mentoring is an effective strategy to improve the quality and meaningfulness of Fiqh learning in madrasah settings.

Abstract

The important role of MSMEs as the backbone of the Indonesian economy requires support through improved business governance, enabling them to achieve optimal business performance. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve partners' knowledge and skills in financial administration, including recording daily financial transactions in cash books and preparing profit and loss reports and balance sheets. Another objective is to improve knowledge and skills in marketing administration, particularly customer database management. The activity implemented using a counseling method consisting of education and training with hands-on practice. The results of the activity indicate that partners understand how to record business finances using both manual and digital methods. Furthermore, partners can create customer data, one of which is intended for promotional purposes. To maintain consistency in financial and marketing administration, continuous monitoring and mentoring are still necessary so that the program can run effectively and have an impact on improving business performance
