Abstract

This study attempts to reveal meaning of symbols embedded in lyrics of shalawat songs by utilizing semiotics perspective. So far, sholawat is considered as hymne to remind human to God but there is no research about meaning of javanese sholawat songs. This study employs qualitative method to describe the analysis. The analyzed data is based on literature review of the lyrics of sholawat songs. The obtained data is analyzed in semiotic perspective structurally. The result shows us that semiotics is able to reveal meaning of lyrics of javanese sholawat songs. In addition, the results elaborates that lyrics of javanese sholawat songs refer to values of humanity and message of life.

Abstract

This article offers the maqasyid as 'method' rather than 'doctrine', method is a process of developmental dynamics, whereas doctrine is a stalled idea of development. The findings are productivity of thinking that can be accounted scientifically both quantity and quality. Its usul fiqh literary ground "back to al-Qur'an and as-Sunnah" is the best choice of Islamic repertoire. Making ushul fiqh with maqasyid as 'method' will reject the Western slogan of hermeneutics. The perspective of ushul fiqh Yudian Wahyudi regretted that scholars who study Islam in the West, have experienced alienation with ushul fiqh because it is not well understood, then want to replace it with hermeneutics whereas hermeneutics are understood still "periphery", this will weaken the authority of revelation as source Islam. The epistemological plea of Yudian is to realize that hermeneutics when applied to the Qur'an is a big mistake, recognizing that hermeneutics criticizing ushul fiqh is an upside-down and superficial epistemology, so how to treat it is by historical, thematic, reflective, analytical, comparative Islamic and critical.

Abstract

This article describes the thoughts of M Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy in understanding or interpreting the verses of the law. This discussion is descriptive-analytic with a focus on his work of Tafsir al-Qur'anul Majid An-Nur. As for the novelty of this study is the researchers tried to see the construction of Tafsir al-Qur'anul Majid An-Nur, which includes two aspects, namely internal and external. The internal aspects include methods and techniques of interpretation, while the external aspects include the social conditions of society which then affect the Hasbi interpretation model that is very typical with the nuances of Indonesianness, especially in legal matters. The results of this study indicate that in interpreting the verses of Hasbi's law does not necessarily accept the law textually or interpret the verses of the law in accordance with the sect of it, the school of Shafi'i, but he also tried to explain or describe about various history or opinion of the scholars according to the theme, then new Hasbi linked with the context of life of Indonesian society is very pluralistic.

Abstract

The article is to examine Adnin Armass criticism of Quran hermeneutics. By comparing tafsir and hermeneutics of Quran, Adnin has depicted that the later was too relative for being method on Quranic interpretation. Instead, it contained the perilous  entity for Muslims, particularly in their identity—knowing the genealogy was from Western culture. On the contrary, tafsir was far from the relativity, native Islamic product of history,  and subsequently being the only way to touch Quran. No more appropriate way to understand Quran, Adnin Said, except tafsir. Along the histroy of Muslims, tafsir was absolutely fruitfull. Understanding the fact, thus, the article tries to evaluate the sources used by Adnin, till refused Quranic hermeneutics and embraced tafsir as something sacred with questions how far he understood them and picked them up from.

Abstract

In learning English, students need to have good attitudes toward the language. Teachers should make good atmosphere in the classroom so students become confident especially in speaking. Management students of STIE Putra Bangsa Kebumen are prepared to face ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). Unfortunately, they are lack of english speaking competence. This study proposes to solve that problem by applying Motivational Strategies. This research is a Classroom Action Research. The Researcher analyses in both qualitative and quantitative. In quantitative data, researcher compares the mean of pre-test and also post-test. In measuring students’ achievement, researcher uses the concept from Hudghes (2003). In qualitative data, the researcher does reduction, display and verification. The result of this research shows different number. The post-test mean increases from 60,72 to 79,68. This study will contribute as alternative strategies to improve the students’ English speaking capacity and possible to be applied by teachers from other subjects.

Abstract

History has recorded Palembang as a multiethnic city capable of developing into the capital of the Maritime kingdom. Of course, this success can not be separated from the participation of leaders and stakeholders who have struggled for their vision to be achieved. This is reflected in the text "The Law of the Simbur of Light" and "Tuhfah ar-Raghibin". "The Law of the Light of the Simbur" is a book of laws that combine customary law and Islamic teachings. In addition, "Tuhfah ar-Raghibin" is also a guide made by ulama for the ruler in order to remain consistent in keeping the customs that are in harmony with the values of Islamic teachings and 'rectifying' the customs that begin to deviate. The assertive and fair attitude of the leader in running the government, supported by wise scholars that are able to make Palembang transformed into an advanced multicultural city as well as the capital of the Maritime kingdom in the archipelago. Therefore, the existence of ancient texts needs to be reviewed comprehensively and integratively so as to inspire alternative solutions for sustainable nation-building.
