Sub themes and scope in the scientific publications of al-Balagh include: 1. Dawa and Islamic preaching/ propagation: a. Studies in the science of dawa/ Islamic preaching or propagation, such as history of dawa, philosophy of dawa, and methodology of dawa, include in culturally, economically, and politically. b. Management of dawa that related to make a plan and strategy for Islamic proselytizing, Islamic global tourism, and Islamic management and religious tourism. c. Dawa/ Islamic preaching or propagation, especially in the analysis of social and psychological, Islamic counseling, and the relationship between dawa and socio-cultural studies. 2. Communication science: a. Studies in communication science in general, communication theory, and approaches in communication, interpersonal communication, group communication, and organizational communication. b. Political communication, including the strategies of political communication, political campaigns, political marketing, governance, public policy, and political parties. c. Development of communication, such as the communication planning, communication and contemporary issues, and communication management. d. Communication science in the study of psychology and social culture, include in the field of sociology of communication, psychology of communication, communication and local wisdom, and intercultural communication. e. Media studies, including the scope of journalism, mass communication, mass media management, media content analysis, and new media studies. f. Public Relations (PR), consisting of human relations, corporate social resposibility (CSR), media relations, public affair, marketing communications, and advertising.

Students certainly have a number of separate considerations in choosing a college and its majors to be taken. Including the variety of factors that influence the decision to choose. For this reason, a research is needed on what factors influence students in choosing a department in college. The research was conducted at the Islamic of Communication and Broadcasting Department (KPI) of the Theology and Da'wah Faculty of IAIN Surakarta in 2017/2018. Based on the results of the FGD, the desire of students to enter KPI was because of the motivation, promotion and encouragement of parents, and the influence of friends. With quantitative descriptive method, this study uses respondents as well as a sample of 158 students. Data collection is done by distributing questionnaires, library studies, and interviews to complete the data. Data analysis was carried out through validity and reliability, homogeneity, normality, linearity, and ended with multiple regression tests.

This research aims to measure the satisfaction of KPI’ students of IAIN Surakarta in selecting Department concentration through the influence of motives and satisfaction in selecting Department concentration. Using quantitative descriptive method, subjects of this research were 2014 KPI’ students. Data collection were taken by observation, questionnaire, and documentation. For variables, it leads to independent variable about the motive of the 2014 KPI’ students in choosing concentration, and dependent variable related to the level of student satisfaction. Based on result of analysis, cognitive needs are aspects of the needs variable affect the level of student satisfaction in choosing KPI’s Department concentration. Related to this, cognitive aspects are basic needs in the process of student’s knowledge and experience that affect the satisfaction level of selecting concentration, because it deals with efforts to understand the academic and potential factors of students in developing interests and talents in the field of communication.

The role of social assistant is very urgent in the implementation of social assistance programs, social security and social assistance. Citizen assistance is carried out through the Family Capability Improvement Program (P2K2), the activity is called Family Development Session (FDS). This article focuses on the problems that occur in these social assistance activities, especially in the communication barriers between social facilitators and citizens as Beneficiary Families (KPM). The study was conducted based on relevant literature. It was found that active and efficient communication became the determining factor in the implementation of community assistance. An affective strategy needs to be prepared in the assistance of beneficiary citizens so that the program is effective smoothly and efficiently.

The digital era is shown by the swift flow of information that is directly consumed by every layer of society, including children. Children who always witness public lies with claims of religious truth result in low social and emotional attitudes of children. This type of research is library research and this research is a qualitative descriptive study. Research concludes that the principle of honesty through reflective efforts will provide space for awareness of God and humans. This paper contributes to describing the understanding of spiritual communication in the digital era

Fatwa of MUI Number 56 in 2016 concerning about “Religious Attributes of Non-Muslims†issued as guideline for Indonesian Muslims addressing the phenomenon of using non-muslim religious attributes, while promoting good relations between Muslims and other religious people. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the MUI fatwa efforts to maintain the harmony between religious communities and the harmonious life in society, nation, and state. Using qualitative research methods in communication of da'wah perspective, this study focuses direct attention into 3 (three) things that’re: 1) analysing about some keywords contained in the fatwa; 2) understanding the quality of fatwa messages; and 3) analysing the implications of fatwa in Indonesian religious life. Generally, in communication of da'wah perspective, the fatwa still raises multi-interpretations, particularly among the communicants, especially on keywords in the fatwa which have an impact on the tension of religious relations in Indonesia, though not too significant.

Gadget in the form of smartphone and laptop is a development of information technology and communication in Indonesia. This development is the reason difabel to use gadget in their daily activities. But each of difabel have different motiv and gratifications in using them. So, the aim of research is there is correlation between the difabel use of gadget and satisfaction of interpersonal communication in UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This is quantitative research with the method of purposive sampling and the collection data by questionnaire. Population of data is 72 person and with sample 32 people. The results obtained from this research is proved hypothesis stating that there is a significant positive correlation between the use of gadgets with the satisfaction of interpersonal communication in difabel UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
