Abstract

Nature and humans are two entities that cannot be separated from each other. Both are in an integral unity that is interdependent. This pattern has been lived by local communities for a long time. Their lifestyle is more friendly to nature than the modern anthropocentric pattern. The Tombulu community in Rumengkor Village has a unique understanding and appreciation of the relationship between nature and humans. The pattern of appreciation clearly shows mutual respect and appreciation, the importance of nature conservation, and harmony. Humans are part of nature as an integral organic unit, which can coexist in a harmonious relationship. This paper aims to explore this through a qualitative-descriptive approach, with a descriptive-analytic writing style.

Abstract

The focus of this research is to analyze the ethical aspects and identify the potential for practical implementation of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit according to Saint Augustine in the use of humanizing artificial intelligence. This research aims to analyze the ethical aspects of the implementation of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit according to Saint Augustine in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) and identify the strengths and opportunities associated with their practical use. This research method uses a philosophical analysis approach to Saint Augustine's thoughts on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as their application in the development of humanizing AI. The results show that the practical implementation of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit in AI has great potential to produce technology that is oriented towards justice, equality, and improving the quality of life. The power of AI in accelerating decision-making and improving efficiency is also highlighted as an important factor. The main conclusion of this study is that an ethical approach based on religious values can be a valuable guide in the development and application of AI technologies that are mindful of human well-being.

Abstract

Currently, the world is suffering from an ecological crisis. The crisis results from human behavior that tends to be destructive towards nature. Humans regard themselves to be in control of other creatures. Nature is seen only as an entity created to serve all their needs. Faced with this situation, Pope Francis through his Encyclical Laudato Si' calls for the importance of re-reflecting harmony among all creation in the light of faith and revelation. He highlights the fact that there is an integral relationship among humans, other elements of creation, and God. In fact, this way of seeing things has already existed in certain local wisdom, such as the ‘nun’i and ‘saef’ traditions in the Dawan community. This essay purports to examine the ecotheological meaning of the two local traditions. The method used to collect data is a qualitative one with interviews and literature studies. The finding of this study is that the nuni and saef traditions embody respect for nature. The respect emerges from an awareness that nature has been playing an important role in the life history of the Dawan people. Nature, furthermore, is desribed as a part of God as well as a locus of His presence. Thus, the respect for nature leads them to a relationship with God the Creator. Between the two local wisdom (nuni and saef) and Laudato Si', there exists the same value with regard to the relationship between humans, nature, and God.

Abstract

This article discussed the hermeneutics of the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council. Liturgical reform has been of the most important fruits that the Second Vatican Council produced for the life of the Church. However, the liturgical reform, especially the one of ordo missae, has been one of the most debated issues in the Catholic Church since the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) until now. The implementation of liturgical reform after the Second Vatican Council was not only welcomed with warm reception, but also with critical attitudes and even rejection. This article showed that the debates and controversies surrounding liturgical reform are rooted in different hermeneutics regarding the Second Vatican Council, and specifically regarding the Constitution of Liturgy. The problem actually arises from two conflicting and contradictory hermeneutics and interpretations. On the one hand there is a so-called hermeneutic of discontinuity and rupture. On the other hand, there is a hermeneutic of reform, or a hermeneutic of renewal in continuity with the one Church.

Abstract

The Christian family holds a central role as a living sign of God's love and a tangible manifestation of His plan of salvation. However, amidst modernity marked by secularization, individualism, and moral crises, families face significant challenges that test their vocation as a community of love. Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love), a pastoral and theological document by Pope Francis, reflects on the family's call to remain faithful to Gospel values despite the pressures of changing times. This article elaborates on the teachings of the document, focusing on the theological dimensions of unconditional love, forgiveness that builds relationships, and commitment that affirms the family's dignity as a sacred institution. This reflective approach emphasizes the vital role of the Church as a companion and supporter of families in confronting modern challenges, enabling Christian families to become sacraments of love that radiate the light of Christ to the world.
