Abstract

One of the nutritional problems often experienced by adolescent girls is anemia. Adolescent girls are categorized as having anemia if the hemoglobin (Hb) level in the blood is less than 12 gr/dl. The type of anemia that often occurs is iron deficiency anemia, which is generally caused by blood loss during menstruation and increased iron requirements during puberty. As an effort to overcome this, a sustainable anemia prevention program was designed through the formation and strengthening of the Anemia Ambassador Team. This strengthening is carried out by providing education about anemia to adolescent girls. The purpose of this strengthening is to form peer cadres who play an active role in the prevention and control of anemia in the school environment on an ongoing basis. This activity was carried out in Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, Jambi City. The target of the activity was 13 people, with the FGD method and guidance. The results of the community service were obtained by forming ORSADA Cadres selected from peers who are expected to have a strong influence and be able to convey information about anemia, an increase in the knowledge of cadres about preventing anemia

Abstract

Anemia is a public health problem in Indonesia that affects all age groups, from toddlers to the elderly. In 2018, 32% of Indonesian adolescents suffered from anemia, and it is estimated that the majority of anemia is due to iron deficiency resulting from insufficient intake of iron-rich foods, particularly animal-based foods. Iron deficiency anemia is most common in adolescent girls due to excessive blood loss during menstruation, and their iron needs increase during puberty. This puts them at risk of decreased immunity, impaired concentration in learning, and complications during pregnancy. The purpose of this community service is to increase adolescent girls' knowledge about iron deficiency anemia. The methods used in this activity include discussion, mentoring, and persuasive communication. The target group for this community service were 25 adolescent girls from the Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School. The results showed an increase in the adolescent girls' knowledge about iron deficiency, from an average of 78% to 97%. The adolescent girls are advised to actively seek information about the dangers of anemia and to pay attention to their nutritional intake to avoid anemia

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is lower abdominal pain that sometimes radiates to the waist, lower back, and thighs. Dysmenorrhea is often experienced by some women of productive age, which can affect daily activities and quality of life, so treatment is needed to relieve the symptoms that arise. It can be done pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically to help overcome pain, including with a number of spices, acupressure, warm compresses, aromatherapy. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is acupressure or pressure on certain points can stimulate blood circulation and the release of endorphins as a natural analgesic, while ginger therapy has a fairly high essential oil content and gingerol content can block prostaglandins so it can reduce pain during menstruation. This community service aims to provide education on how to overcome menstrual pain with acupressure and giving ginger water to teenagers. The method used is educational approach through counseling about dysmenorrhea and how to overcome it as well as demonstrations about acupuncture points to overcome menstrual pain and how to do acupressure and how to make ginger water to be consumed during dysmenorrhea. The results of community service about acupressure education and ginger water to overcome dysmenorrhea after counseling on adolescents have been proven to be educationally able to increase the knowledge and skills of adolescent girls in overcoming pain during dysmenorrhea as well as a preventive effort for adolescent girls to overcome dysmenorrhea with non-pharmacological therapy that is easy to do and can be done independently so that they can feel the benefits optimally with natural methods

Abstract

Nutrition for pregnant women is important to support optimal fetal growth and development. Mothers who experience nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy due to poor nutritional intake are at greater risk for delivering birth to infants with a low birth weight, stunted toddlers, and also suffering from chronic energy deficiency. As a result, it's essential for giving better close attention to the quality of nutritional intake for pregnant women in Tangsil Wetan Village. The purpose of this program of community service is to empower women who are pregnant regarding the fulfillment of balanced nutritional needs in a strategy for preventing stunting during pregnancy. There were 20 pregnant women who participated in this activity. The method being applied to this community service is counseling with lectures accompanied by questions and answers as well as a demonstration of serving food portions. Implementation of pre-test and post-test for assessing the knowledge of participants. Regarding the outcomes of the pre-posttest, it was shown that the level of knowledge of pregnant women risen significantly with an increase of 25.81%. The results of the demonstration activity on serving food portions according to the contents of my plate can increase understanding for pregnant women to know the right food portion standards. Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional issue that hampers children's growth, characterized by height below the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO). The primary cause is prolonged malnutrition, especially during the first 1,000 days of life—from pregnancy until the child turns two. In Indonesia, stunting has become a national priority due to its long-term impact on human resource quality and the country’s future. According to the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), national stunting prevalence stands at 21.6%, while West Java reports 20.2%. In Bandung Regency, including Dayeuhkolot area, stunted children are still found, often due to inadequate monitoring during pregnancy and low maternal awareness about nutritional health. Efforts to reduce stunting should not focus only on toddlers but also prioritize early prevention during pregnancy. Maternal health—encompassing nutritional status, blood pressure, weight, and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC)—plays a crucial role in determining the risk of delivering low birth weight (LBW) babies, a major stunting risk factor. However, many pregnant women lack knowledge of how to use basic health measurement tools like MUAC tapes, weight scales, and blood pressure monitors. Through this community service program, the team will conduct health education and practical training sessions for pregnant women at Posyandu 08 Melati, Citeureup Village, Dayeuhkolot. The initiative aims to improve maternal health literacy, equip participants with skills to use health tools, and raise early detection awareness for stunting prevention. A participatory, community-based approach will be applied to ensure sustainable impact in line with the government’s national stunting reduction agenda.

Abstract

Dementia is one of the global health problems that affects not only the elderly but also individuals in the productive age group. This condition is known as Young-Onset Dementia (YOD), which can occur before the age of 65 and is often linked to unhealthy lifestyle habits. The lack of public awareness regarding the risk factors and early signs of dementia poses a challenge in prevention efforts. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of students at SMAN 4 Sidrap about the early recognition and prevention of dementia. The methods used included health education sessions, interactive discussions, and the administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge. Among 52 participants, 55.8% were initially in the moderate category, which increased to 73.1% in the good category after the intervention. This activity is expected to serve as an initial step in raising awareness among young people about the importance of maintaining cognitive health and preventing the risk of dementia from an early age

Abstract

Reproductive health (Kespro) is an important aspect that should be introduced from adolescence, as this period is a transition to adulthood marked by physical, psychological, and social changes. A lack of understanding of reproductive health can lead to risky behavior among adolescents. This community service activity was carried out at SMP Pertiwi 1 Kota Jambi with the aim of optimizing the role of the School Health Unit (UKS) in improving students’ knowledge of reproductive health. The method used was health education through counseling, interactive presentations, and group discussions. The activity was conducted from March to August 2025. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test instruments administered to 10 UKS team students. The results showed that before education, the students’ level of knowledge was in the good category for 8 students (80%), sufficient for 2 students (20%), and poor for 0 students (0%). After education, students’ knowledge improved to the good category for all 10 students (100%), while sufficient and poor categories were not found (0%). Although most students already have good knowledge, there are still 20% of students with sufficient knowledge. Education is needed to align the understanding of all members of the Health and Safety Team, prevent information gaps between students, and ensure all participants have correct and standardized knowledge. These findings indicate a significant improvement in students’ knowledge after receiving education. Thus, this activity proves that reproductive health education through the optimization of the UKS team is effective in increasing knowledge and creating positive changes before and after implementation. It is expected that similar programs can be carried out sustainably so that students gain adequate provisions to maintain reproductive health from an early age.
