Abstract

Artikel ini membahas dinamika perjalanan Islam sebagai salah satu kekuatan politik Indonesia. Dalam perjalanan sistem politik Indonesia, Islam bukan saja memainkan perannya sebagai simbol religi dan filsafat, melainkan telah berfungsi pula sebagai simbol politik Islam sejarah politik Indonesia. Berbagai fenomena agama, sosial, politik pada era globalisasi ini baik yang terjadi di lingkungan domestik dan eksternal Indonesia tetapakan memiliki signifikansinya pada perkembangan Islam sebagai kekuatan agama dan politik. Oleh karenanya, posisi Islam dalam politik Indonesia dan politik global, padaumumnya akan tetap menjadi sumber perdebatan utama dalam sekularisasi politik dan agamaisasi politik.

Abstract

Artikel ini hendak menyanggah anggapan bahwa agama sebagai monisme etis tidak sesuai dengan filsafat politik liberal yang menghargai keragaman nilai. Sebagai acuan digunakan sejarah islamisasi di jawa, yang telah melahirkan hubungan konsensual harmonis antara Islam dan konsepsi etik Jawa. Dari sana dibangunlah hipotesis bahwa pada dasarnya agama (Islam)sebenarnya mampu membangun 'overlapping value consensus' seperti yang dicanangkan filsfat politik Rawlsian.

Abstract

The article discusses the identity of Christianity in Indonesia. The discrepancy between tradition and relevancy occurs when 'identity' is understood as static.Onthe contrary, when identity is viewed as dynamic, a dialectical balance between tradition and relevancy is required. Identity does not necessarily mean uniformity. It may instead mean 'united diversity'. The Church in Indonesia becomes 'Indonesian Church' only if she is capable of making significant interaction between the universal Church (tradition) and Indonesian peculiar situation (relevancy).
