Abstract

Dasar keyakinan atas pluralisme kebudayaan adalah kebebasan individual dan kolektif untuk memilih hal yang berbeda. Namun ketidaksamaan berlebihan dan kontrol terlalu besar dari pihak yang lebih berkuasa tidakmemungkinkan interaksi yang sehat. Dalam kondisi macam itu konsep 'peradaban' hanyalah pembenaran-diri kolonialisme, imperialisme dan akulturasi koersif. Dan peradaban akan menjadi beban. Artikel ini  menekankan interaksi kultural global yang saling memperkaya dan saling menghaluskan. Kebudayaan adalah sebuah dialog yang lantas menuntut standard kehalusan atau standard peradaban yang juga berragam. Bila peradaban dilihat sebagai berbagai pola ungkap yang berbeda, maka iabukanlah beban melainkan peluang.

Abstract

Ada jurang antara aktivitas moral dengan identitas personal yang menjadi sumber inotentisitas. Salah satu akarnya adalah etika prosedural yang  berpusat pada “apa yang harus dilakukan.” Charles Taylor mengatasinyamelalui etika substantif yang berdasar pada konsep fundamental tentang “yang baik” (the good). Iamenjelaskan dimensi ontologis dari moralitas dan identitas serta menawarkan etika otentisitas, di mana identitas yang benardan aktivitas yang baik berkaitan secara ontologis. Inilah konsep etis tentang “the good self ”.

Abstract

Penelitian filsosofis terhadap kepercayaan suku Igbo kerap tergoda menjadi sistematisasi menurut standard penalaran logis atau hanya menerangi keunikankeunikannya yang berbeda dari sistem kepercayaan lain. Kedua-duanya luput menangkap kompleksitas dan kedalaman kandungan pengalaman konkrit suku Ibo. Artikel ini mencoba merumuskan kompleksitas itu dalam membahas khususnya kepercayaan Ibo tentang takdir dan kelahiran kembali. Dibahas disini ihwal tubuh material yang melampaui kematian, kaitannya dengan konsep Igbo tentang kemanusiaan yang integral dan identitas personalnya.

Abstract

Referring back to the age-old tradition of Negative Theology and combining it with deconstructive 'Heuristic Way' of French Postmodern Philosophico-Theology , this article seeks to reiterate the centrality of 'Absence' vis-à- vis 'Metaphysics of Presence'. Theology of absence is offered as a middleway between affirmative and negative theology by incorporating some basic ideasof Derrida, Jean-Luc Marion, Michel Henry, Levinas and Marc C. Tylor. In the final analysis, it is 'Life' itself that is to be the focus of theology.
