Abstract

Abstract

Computer graphics plays a crucial role in creating engaging and interactive learning experiences for young children. This study implements ray tracing algorithms to enhance 3D object visualization in educational games designed for early childhood. The objective is to improve visual realism, thereby increasing children's interest and engagement in learning through interactive gameplay. The game was developed using C++ and OpenGL, incorporating ray tracing techniques to simulate light behavior accurately and produce realistic shading and reflections. The research followed a systematic development process, including literature review, game design, algorithm implementation, and user evaluation. The evaluation, involving early learners, showed a significant increase in attention span, comprehension, and enthusiasm among children exposed to ray-traced 3D environments, compared to traditional visualization techniques. These findings suggest that realistic 3D visualization through ray tracing can be a valuable asset in educational media, supporting cognitive development and learning motivation in early childhood education.

Abstract

In the era of data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency, the optimization of production processes has become vital for sustaining competitive advantage. AMIL, a leading refill drinking water brand in Madura, Indonesia, is striving to enhance its production profitability amidst increasing consumer demand and resource constraints. This study presents a linear programming-based approach using Microsoft Excel Solver to optimize the production planning of two key product variants 19-liter and 15-liter gallon refill bottles at the AMIL depot. By formulating an objective function that maximizes daily profit and incorporating constraints such as production capacity, raw material limitations, and market demand, the model identifies the optimal product mix. The results indicate that producing only the 19-liter variant under the given demand scenario (25 units/day) yields a maximum daily profit of IDR 150,000, while the 15-liter variant, under the same demand, yields a lower return of IDR 125,000. The optimal production ratio is thus determined to be 2:0 in favor of the 19-liter gallon. This study demonstrates the practical utility of Excel Solver as an accessible and effective decision support tool for small to medium-scale manufacturing operations. The findings offer actionable insights for resource allocation, cost minimization, and strategic production planning in the refill water industry. Furthermore, this approach may serve as a replicable framework for other enterprises seeking to optimize operational performance through linear programming.

Abstract

Internship programs serve as a vital bridge between academic knowledge and real-world practice, preparing students for professional environments. However, the manual process of assigning students to internship positions often results in inefficiencies, misalignments between student skills and job roles, and unnecessary costs. This study introduces a spreadsheet-based linear programming approach using Microsoft Excel Solver to optimize the assignment of internship students to tasks, aiming to minimize total costs while maximizing task compatibility. The model incorporates student profiles, task-specific skill requirements, and associated costs to generate the most efficient allocation. Results show that all four students in the case study were optimally assigned to distinct tasks coding, UI/UX design, editing, and data analysis at the lowest total operational cost of IDR 277,000. The proposed method not only ensures task relevance for each intern but also significantly improves the assignment efficiency. These findings suggest that Excel Solver can be a practical and accessible decision-support tool for academic institutions and partner organizations in managing internship programs.

Abstract

Efficient transportation management plays a vital role in minimizing operational costs in the tobacco manufacturing industry. This study presents the application of Integer Programming using Excel Solver to optimize distribution logistics and reduce transportation expenses in a cigarette factory. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach using simulated data representing production capacities and regional demand. A linear programming model is constructed to minimize total transportation costs while considering constraints such as factory capacity, regional demand, and non-negativity of shipment volumes. Excel Solver, as an accessible and widely adopted optimization tool, is utilized to determine the optimal allocation of product deliveries from factories to various distribution zones. The results indicate that Solver provides a cost-effective and practical solution for identifying optimal transport routes, reducing overall distribution costs, and improving operational efficiency. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis reveals the robustness of the model in responding to changes in cost parameters and capacity constraints. The study highlights the strategic potential of spreadsheet-based decision support systems in enhancing supply chain efficiency within the tobacco industry and similar manufacturing sectors..
