The research adopted the descriptive survey design. The study population was 65 fast food firms registered with the Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Port Harcourt as at May, 2021. The study accepted the entire firms as study units and employed the Taro Yamane’s formula to arrive at the sample size of 56. The simple random sampling technique was adopted to determine the respondents. A sample of 3 managers (1 marketing manager, 1 sales manager and 1supervisor) of each fast food firms weredrawn, resulting in a total of 168 respondents. One hundred and sixty-eight (168) copies of the questionnaire were administered to the respondents. However, after the error check and cleaning process, only 142 (84.5%) copies were considered as adequate and suitable for inclusion in the study. The hypotheses were tested using the Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and aided by the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0. The analysis revealed that there is a significant relationship between brand awareness and all the measures of consumer response. Also, the analysis revealed that there is a significant relationship between brand association and purchase intention but the relationship between brand association and brand preference is insignificant in the fast food industry in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. This study concludes that brand equity has significant positive effect on consumer response. The study therefore recommends that brand equity practice must be positively influenced by firms through brand strength, brand description and aimed at improving consumer response. The study also recommends that firms should realize the dimensions of brand equity that drives consumer response and emphasize on them.

Abstract

The study examines the link between operations improvement function (dimensioned by contingency planning and preventive maintenance) and economic sustainability of petroleum tank farms in South-South, Nigeria. The study was underpinned by the stakeholder theory and the theory of routine dynamics. The study adopted the cross-sectional survey research design, as the researchers could not manipulate the variables, and the underlying philosophy is positivism. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The elements of the accessible population comprise 820 middle and top level managers of all the 29 petroleum tank farms owned by members of the Independent Petroleum Products Importers, in South South, Nigeria. The Krejcie & Morgan’s formula was deployed to determine the sample size of 262 respondents, and a 10% provision was reasonably made to accommodate non-responses and outliers, bringing the adjusted sample size to 288 respondents. The simple random sampling technique was adopted and the Structural Equation Modeling was deployed to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significance level. The results revealed that contingency planning and preventive maintenance have positive and significant relationships with economic sustainability.

Abstract

The paper adopted mean and standard deviation in the evaluation of human resource practice in the post COVID era, having used SPSS as analytical tool in the interpretation of data. The research surveyed three major banks in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State, thus: Sterling bank, Access bank and GTB bank. The paper claims that the on-line trade system which is the dream of the capitalist states is fast clamping down on the African market for one, based on a survey done on three selected banks in Obia/Akpor municipality, it was observed that most of the companies took to the on-line trade system, having laid off some of their workers and some placed on the admin desk to report from their homes. The consequence of this is that the human resource practice is being challenged by the new media which in many ways helps the bank to reduce bank crowding and maintain social distance. In other words, while bank crowding is on the slide through the use of the ATM machine and the cyber space, the activities of the human resource personnel would rarely be needed. The paper recommends that while the traditional human resource practice is on the challenge, the best may be for personnel to sell their service to the online train.
