Abstract

Limbah padat pabrik kertas rokok tidak mengandung bahan berbahaya dan beracun tetapi mengandung CaCO3 berpotensi sebagai bahan pengapuran. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi limbah padat pabrik kertas rokok terhadap perbaikan sifat kimia tanah Ultisol Tambunan A. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Fisika Tanah dan  laboratoriun analitik           PT. Socfindo mulai Mei - Juni 2016. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Non Faktorial yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan limbah padat (pabrik kertas rokok) dan 5 ulangan yaitu         L0 (kontrol),   L1 (0,4 g), L2 (0,6 g), dan L3 (0,8 g). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi pemberian limbah padat kertas rokok berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan pH tanah, P-tersedia,          Ca-tukar tetapi tidak berpengaruh meningkatkan K-tukar dan C-Organik tanah. Aplikasi limbah padat kertas rokok berpengaruh nyata menurunkan Al-tukar tanah dan berpengaruh tidak nyata menurunkan Kejenuhan Al.   Kata Kunci      : Limbah padat pabrik kertas rokok, Ultisol Tambunan A

Abstract

Spodoptera litura is an important pest for tobacco. The objective of this study was to determine the potency of entomopathogenic fungi at various conidia density against Spodoptera litura on tobacco. This study was conducted in screen house, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara from October until February 2016. This study was used a randomized block design (RBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was the conidia density (106, 107, 108 conidia/ml), the second factor was the type of fungi (Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana, and Lecanicillium lecanii) The result showed that: the highest larval mortality was at concentration of 108 conidia/ml (73.33%). The highest larval mortality was on M. anisopliae (57.78%) followed by B. bassiana (51.11%) and L. lecanii (40.00%). The infected larvae showed slow movements, color changes to paleness, decreased appitite, over time silent and die. The dead larva body hardened and blackened. The highest intensity of fungal infection was at concentration of 106 conidia/ml (42.22%).   Key words: entomopathogenic fungi, Spodoptera litura, tobacco

Abstract

Solid waste of cigarette paper factory does not contain hazard and toxic materials but contain CaCO3as a lime material. The research of was conducted to study effect of application of solid waste fromthe cigarette paper factory to improve soil properties at Ultisol Tambunan A. This research wasconducted at the Laboratory of Soil Physics, Agriculture Faculty and analytic laboratory of socfindocompany from May until June 2016. The research used non factorial completely randomized designconsist (CRD) of four (4) treatment solid waste (cigarette paper factory) and five (5) replications,there are: L0 (control), L1 (0,4 g), L2 (0,6 g), and L3 (0.8 g). The results showed that the applicationof solid waste from cigarette paper significantly increase soil pH, P-available, Ca-exchangeble butnot significantly increase K-exchangeable and organic carbon of Ultisol. Application of solid wastefrom cigarette paper significantly decrease Al-exchangeable and no significantly decrease Alsaturatedof Ultisol.Keyword : Solid waste of cigarette paper, Ultisol

Abstract

The yield of rice crops that have been fertilized intensively by used inorganic fertilizer with high dosecan caused decline of land productivity. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of organicmatter application to increasing organic carbon, P – available, and Zn - available in paddy soil. Thisexperiment was conducted in green house and Laboratory of Research and Technology AgricultureFaculty Univesity of Sumatera Utara, Medan from March until July 2016. Soil samples were takenat Lubuk Dendang village, Serdang Bedagai district. The research used non factorial randomizedcomplete design with eight treatments and three replications, consist of A (control), B (cow manure10 ton/ha), C (rice husk biochar 10 ton/ha), D (straw compost 10 ton/ha), E (cow manure + rice huskbiochar 20 ton/ha), F (cow manure + straw compost 20 ton /ha), G (rice husk biochar + straw compost20 ton/ha), and H (cow manure + rice husk biochar + straw compost 30 ton/ha). Parameters observedare include soil pH, organic carbon, P – available and Zn – available. The result showed that all kindof organic matters and biochar which used in this research have no effect on increasing soil pH, Zn –available but have same effect on increasing organic carbon and P – available.Key words : biochar, organic carbon, organic matters, P – available, Zn -available

Abstract

The aim of  research was to analyzes genetic diversity in oil palm  from clone based on RAPD markers (Random Amplified Polymorphism DNA). This research has been conducted at the laboratory of molecular genetics Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera  utara and BioMolecular Laboratory SSPL (Socfindo Seed Production and Laboratories), Bangun Bandar, Dolok Masihul, Serdang Bedagai, Sumatera Utara, from March to August 2016. The number of samples were samples of the original palm leaf clones derived from PT. SOCFINDO and have been isolated. There was differences in bands pattern resulted from primer OPD-20, OPD-13, OPH-13, OPN-03. The size of bands was 470 – 2609 bp. Coefficients of genetic diversity and phylogenetic dendogram obtained using software Darwin5.05 which can only process 28 accessions tested. The analysis showed that accessions palm oil clones were divided into three main groups. Keywords: clones, genetic diversity, oil palm, random amplified polymorphism DNA.

Abstract

The  aim of the research was to analyze molecular diversity of oil palm MTG variety (Moderate Tahan Gano) with SSR primer. This research was conducted in Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory of  Agriculture, University of  Sumatera Utara and Bio Molecular Laboratory of SSPL (Socfindo Seed Production and Laboratories) Bangun Bandar, Dolok Masihul, Serdang Bedagai-  Sumatera Utara, from February to  September 2016. Individuals were observed as many as 27 samples of oil palm crop varieties MTG issued by PT. Socfin Indonesia using SSR primer. Dendogram formation program conducted with the help of Darwin 6.0.13. The results showed that the percentage of polymorphic 100% and analysis of phylogenetic dendodgram divided into 3 main groups consisting of two sub-groups of 27 samples analyzed.   Keywords: molecular diversity, MTG variety, oil palm, SSR primer.
