Abstract

The mangrove litter which has been decomposed contributes organic matter as food source for many species of fish and other organisms in the mangrove ecosystem. This study aims to determine the effect of salinity on the rate of leaf litter decomposition A. marina and to know the nutrient content of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in the A. marina litter leaf which been released during the decomposition time. This research was done at Hamparan Perak base Deli Serdang sub-district of North Sumatera Province during February until May 2017. The results of the study of leaf litter A. marina at 0-10 ppt salinity level more quickly decomposes. The average weight of the rest of the leaf litter A. marina which decompose at a rate of 0-10 ppt salinity, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt yaitu 1,46 grams, 5,86 grams, dan 6,53 grams.The rate of leaf litter decomposition A. marina at a rate of 0-1 0 ppt salinity, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 28.61, 17.68, and 14.97. Carbon levels of nutrients in the leaf litter A. marina ppt salinity level 0-10, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 18,61%, 18,97%, and 18,58%. Levels of nutrients nitrogen in leaf litter A. marina ppt salinity level 0-10 ppt, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 1,51%, 1,68%, and 1,18% . As well as the levels of the nutrient phosphorus leaf litter A. marina on ppt salinity level 0-10 ppt, 10-20 ppt and 20-30 ppt was 0,58%, 0,52%, and 0,51% respectively.Keywords :A. marina,decomposition, mangrove leaf litter, nutrients, salinity.

Abstract

Bagan Asahan village is one which is in Asahan Regency, which has the great potential of mangrove ecosystemnand diverse biota that live in it. Macrozoobrnthos is one which is potensial mangrove fishery that have economy value. This study aims to know mangrove diversity and macrozoobenthos abudance. The study held in March until April 2017. The study was conducted using purposive sampling method. Plot size was determined using classification category of seedling (2x2 m2), stake (5x5 m2) and tree (10x10 m2) The highest mangrove diversity for the three categories is located on station I with values of 1.94, 1.83 and 1.62. The highest macrozoobenthos abundance is on station II (18.5 ind/m2) and the lowest is at station III (11,66 ind/m2) meanwhile the macrozoobenthos abundance on station I is 15,41 ind/m2.Keywords : Abundance , Diversity, Makrozoobenthos, Mangrove, Tanjung Balai.

Abstract

Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS) is a disease that attacks on the tilapia fish farming, both in the phase of seed and adult. One of alternative to prevent disease by using the extracts from mangrove plants. The aims of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Sonneratia alba leaf extract in tackling MAS disease in Nila fish and to determine the dose of S. alba extract on Tilapia fish. The extraction from S. alba leaves was made into powder form and then combined with artificial feed type FF-999. The LD50 test was performed on Nila fish for 24 hours. This study used Completely Randomized Design with four treatments: P0 (without of extract S. alba), P1 (1% extract S. alba), P2 (2% extract S. alba), P3 (3% extract S. alba). The results showed that the treatment of P1 and P2 could inhibit the growth of A. hydrophila.Keywords : Sonneratia alba, Tilapia, Antimicrobial Activity, Aeromonas hydrophila.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the density and pattern of dissemination of seagrass in Unggeh island. This research was conducted in Unggeh Island, Badiri Sub-district, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatera Province in April 2017. The research method used is Purposive Sampling and divided into 3 stations. The result of seaweed density for Enhalus acoroides species of the station I is 35 ind/m2, station II is 42 ind/m2, and station III is 10 ind m2, with the average of 29 ind/m2. The species of Cymodocea serrulata of station I is 364 ind/m2, station II is 331 ind/m2, and station III is 219 ind/m2 with the average of 305 ind/m2. Halodule pinifolia species only is found in station III with a density of 36 ind/m2 with the average of 12 ind/m2. Based on the calculation of dispersal pattern for Enhalus acoroides, the result is 0,56 which means to be uniform, Cymodocea serrulata 0,50 which means to be uniform and Halodule pinifolia 1,05 which means to be in groups.Keywords ; Seagrass, Density, Pattern of Dissemination, Unggeh Island.

Abstract

Mackerel Fish (Rastrelliger spp.) is one type of economic fish in important for the community, this type is found in the waters of the Strait of Malacca. This study has objectives on accesing growth and exploitation rates of Mackerel Fish in Malacca Strait, North Sumatera Province. This study was held in three months, from March to May 2017. Data analysis used the ELEFAN I method (Electronic Lenght Frequencys Assesment Tool) by using FiSAT II (FAO-ICLARM Fish Stock Assesment Tool) software. The samples of Mackerel Fish obtained as much 361 tail. The growth pattern of Mackerel Fish is negative allometric. The range of condition factor are 0,602 – 1,294. The range of length frequency distribution are 175 – 182 mm. Based on the growth equation of Von Bertalanffy Mackerel Fish obtained in the waters of the Straits of Malacca is Lt = 217,35{1-e-0,75(t+0,015)} which means the asymptothed length (L∞) of Mackerel Fish 217,35 growth coefficient (K) of 0,75 per year and the theoretical age (t0) Mackerel Fish that is equal to -0,015. Total mortality (Z) of Mackerel Fish of 2,837 per year.Estimation of natural mortality rate (M) of Mackerel Fish of 0,891 per year and mortality due to catch (F) of 1,946 per year. Abstract

Organic mangrove material is mostly used as a detritus such mangrove leavesthat fall throughout the year. Organic particles or litter become living places for bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms. The objective research was to measure decomposition and know the nutrient content of carbon (C) nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) leaf litter A. alba released during decomposition in Bagan Asahan Village, Tanjungbalai Sub-district of Asahan Regency. The study was conducted from February to April 2017 using purposive sampling method by looking availability of A. alba Bagan Asahan Village. Result of highest carbon nutrient content (C) station I 18,85% lowest station III 11,58%. The highest nitrogen (N) station III 2, 62% lowest station II 2,29%. The highest phosphorus (P) with the same value station III 0,03% lowest station II 0,01%. Highest C/N station results station III 6,44% lowest station II 4,70%. Dry weight of litter decreased period during the 90 days of the highest average station II 21,70 g lowest station II 2,13 g compared with the initial weight of 50%. The highest value decomposition rate between station III 2,81 lowest value 0,52. Abstract

Pantai Romantis adalah salah satu tujuan destinasi wisata di Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya dukung kawasan pantai, indeks kesesuaian wisata, persepsi wisatawan terhadap potensi dan strategi pengelolaan untuk mengembangkan Pantai Romantis sebagai kawasan wisata pantai. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama bulan September 2017 di Desa Sei Nagalawan Kecamatan Perbaungan Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Parameter kualitas air yang diukur antara lain kecerahan, kedalaman, kecepatan arus, suhu, warna, bau, oksigen terlarut, salinitas, pH dantotal coliform. Pantai Romantis memiliki nilai 71.25 % untuk kegiatan rekreasi pantai yang tergolong dalam kategori S2, 88.23 % untuk kegiatan duduk santai yang tergolong dalam kategori S1, dan 80.24 % untuk kegiatan berenang yang tergolong dalam kategori S2. Daya dukung kawasan untuk kegiatan duduk santai sebesar 400, rekreasi pantai sebesar 106 dan berenang sebesar 40. Dari total 42 orang responden, 90% (38 orang) menyatakan indah dan 88% (37 orang) menyatakan nyaman berwisata di Pantai Romantis. Strategi pengelolaannya adalah dengan memaksimalkan sumberdaya yang ada dan menambah sarana prasarana yang baru yang dapat membuat daya tarik tersendiri. Untuk pemasarannya, promosi dapat dilakukan melalui   internet maupun media cetak serta dapat bekerjasama dengan pemerintah dan masyarakat dalam membantu pembangunan kawasan pantai.Kata kunci: Pantai Romantis, indeks kesesuaian wisata, daya dukung kawasan

Abstract

The condition of mangrove in Asahan regency is currently under pressure due to its utilization and less concern management in sustainability aspects. The decrease of mangrove area will have a direct impact for fishery resources especially shrimp. The purpose of this research was to know about community structure of shrimp in Ecosystem mangrove waters of Bagan Asahan Village, Tanjungbalai District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatera Province. This research was conducted for 3 months from March – May 2017. The method of this research used purposive sampling and determined 3 stations sampling that was near tourist and settlement area, estuary and toward beach. There were 8 shrimp found in ecosystem mangrove. Metapenaeus lysianassa had highest abundance of 38%, Penaeus merguiensis 33%, Metapenaeus affinis 16%, Macrobrachium equidens 9%, Leptocarpus potamiscus 1%. Penaeus monodon, Exopalaeomon styliferus and Squilla mantis had lowest abundance with value 0%. The value of Diversity Index (H') of shrimp ranged from 1.027 to 1.447, the value of Evennes Index ranged from (E) 0.741 to 0.964 and the Dominance Index (D) ranged from 0.271 to 0.402.Keyword: Bagan Asahan, Coummunity Structure, Shrimp

Abstract

R. mucronata is the dominan type of mangrove that grown in Hamparan Perak district. Mangrove’s litter that fall into the forest floor will be decomposed therefore it is involved the microorganism role such as fungi to produce nutrient in the waters. Fungi are the main decomposers in the decomposition of mangrove leaves. The purpose of this research is to know the population and the frequency of fungi colonization, hence to examine the number of species and index of fungi diversity in R. mucronata leaf litter at various levels of salinity. This research was conducted in February – June 2017. Purposive sampling is done by determine the 3 point observation station based on salinity difference. The results of this study show that the highest fungi population is at station 2 with salinity level 9 – 16 ppt ie 30,50 × 102 cfu / ml. The frequency of fungi colonization on the highest litter decomposition process is the type of Aspergillus. The highest number of fungi species is salinity level 1 – 8 ppt as many as 14 types of fungi. The diversity index of fungi type in Hamparan Perak district indicates the same range that is moderate which is describes adequate productivity, balance ecosystem and ecological pressure.Keywords: Mangrove, Leaf Litter, Rhizophora mucronata, Decomposition, Fungi, Nutrient of aquatic, Hamparan Perak District

Abstract

Analysis of business feasibility and selectivity of purse seine gear vessels of 30 GT determines that a fishery business can be developed because it has a profit, or in the business can not continued because the business result have a loss. The purpose of this research is to know description of purse seine gear, to know the business feasibilityby counting value productivity, analyze the financial and technical aspects, to know selectivity of purse seine gear on the catch vessel of 30 GT in Sibolga waters North Sumatera Province. The results of the research the length of purse seine nets for 30 GT boats of about 300 – 500 m were called of Rapat Trawls. The purse seine around Rp 586,508,000 up to Rp 845,174 per year and quite profitable. The purse seine mesh size of the cod 2 cm selective size to the type of Layang fish (Decapterus spp.) 8,573 tails or 22,4%, the fork length size were 20.0 up to 30.0 cm, average size were 25,525 cm. Cakalang fish (Katsuwonus pelamis) that were 3,300 tails or 8.6%, the fork length size were 25.0 up to 40.0 cm, average size were 31,061 cm and Kembung fish (Ratrelliger spp.) that were 4,215 tails or 11,02%, the fork length size were 15,0 up to 26.0 cm.Keywords: Sibolga Waters, Business Feasibility, Profitable, Selectivity, Purse Seine, Vessel 30 GT, North Sumatera Province.
