Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the perceptions of struggles experienced by fresh graduates in finding employment, focusing on both internal and external factors that affect their experiences. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 34 alums of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences who graduated between 2020 and 2024, as well as in-depth interviews with four selected informants. The results showed that 72% of respondents had work experience; however, 48% of them did not secure a job immediately after graduation. Factors that affect difficulties in job search include lack of work experience, company-set qualification limitations, and low soft skills of respondents. In addition, 56% of respondents reported that the uncertainty of their post-graduation future is a source of anxiety, which is exacerbated by social pressures from their surrounding environment and comparisons with the achievements of their peers. Most respondents (80%) stated that they struggle to find a job, even when applying for positions that do not align with their field of study. Adaptations made by fresh graduates include applying for entry-level jobs, expanding their professional relationships, and continuing their studies to the S2 level. These findings offer valuable insights for universities, companies, and educational institutions on supporting the transition of recent graduates into an increasingly competitive workforce.

Abstract

South Korea’s foreign policy in its efforts toward reunification with North Korea is carried out through a peaceful and reconciliatory approach. The Panmunjom Declaration in 2018 marked a significant milestone in reviving peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula. The series of subsequent events reflected a positive perception of one another between the two countries. This study will examine how South Korea has constructed its image of North Korea through the Panmunjom Declaration, as part of its efforts to pursue peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula. The declaration was followed by several high-level meetings between national leaders, which were expected to lead to positive outcomes. However, by the end of President Moon Jae-in’s term, these efforts toward peace and unity had not been achieved. This research employs Image Theory to examine how South Korea built its image of North Korea. Image Theory will be analyzed using a qualitative method. Both primary and secondary data will be examined through triangulation and causal process tracing (CPT). CPT will be applied to trace the causal mechanisms of policies and political decisions during Moon Jae-in’s administration, and to understand how these sequences of events shaped or altered South Korea’s perceptions of North Korea. This study argues that while South Korea perceives North Korea as a partner or ally, North Korea’s nuclear program continues to be viewed as a threat.

Abstract

The Kepulauan Riau Province, despite its significant industrial potential, faces economic disparity between regions due to its archipelagic geography. This study aims to identify strategies for establishing new industrial growth centers that can attract investment and reduce regional disparities. The approach employed includes the analysis of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and the application of several analytical methods, namely Shift-Share, Location Quotient (LQ), and Multiplier Effect. The results of the analysis indicate that establishing an industrial growth center in Natuna Regency, which possesses abundant natural resources, particularly in the fisheries and energy sectors, is a strategic step to stimulate economic growth and reduce regional disparities. The selection of this growth center location also aligns with the principles outlined by François Perroux regarding the characteristics of growth poles

Abstract

Abstrak This study aims to analyze the self-development competency of apparatus in providing local tax and retribution services at the Regional Revenue Agency of Gorontalo Regency. Apparatus competence is a strategic factor for realizing high-quality public services, increasing taxpayer compliance, and supporting the achievement of Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD). This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 15 informants consisting of apparatus and taxpayers, and analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing using source triangulation. The findings show that: (1) in terms of training and self-development, training activities have improved knowledge and skills in tax administration and public service, although their implementation remains uneven and unsustainable; (2) regarding the ability to adapt to technological and system changes, apparatus demonstrate strong readiness and willingness to operate digital systems such as SIPADA, SIPENDA, and TE RANO despite limited facilities and capability gaps; and (3) in terms of self-evaluation, apparatus are beginning to build reflective work habits through the implementation of SKP and the ASN e-Performance system, which positively impacts discipline and service accuracy, although integration into institutional policy remains limited.
