Abstract

This study aims to analyze the conformity of online buying and selling practices with the principles of Islamic economic law (sharia). The background of this research is based on the increasing phenomenon of digital transactions through marketplaces and social media platforms, whose compliance with Islamic muamalah principles is not yet fully recognized. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants include online business actors, Muslim consumers, and Islamic economics experts. The findings reveal that most online transactions are conducted without explicit contracts (akad) and complete product information, which may result in elements of gharar (uncertainty). Additionally, practices such as dropshipping without ownership of goods and the use of paylater systems contain elements of riba (usury). This indicates that several e-commerce practices are still not aligned with sharia principles such as clarity of contract, transparency, and fairness. This study recommends the importance of educating digital muamalah literacy and the active role of authoritative institutions in developing online transaction guidelines in accordance with sharia values.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the process of internalizing sharia values in the consumptive behavior of Muslim students at Islamic universities in Banyuwangi. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consist of students, lecturers, and campus figures involved in religious guidance. The findings reveal that the internalization of sharia values in student consumption behavior occurs through three stages: value cognition, value appreciation, and value actualization. Although most students understand Islamic financial principles such as the prohibition of excessiveness (israf), the importance of qana’ah (contentment), and the pursuit of blessings (barakah) in wealth management consumptive behavior is still present due to the influence of social media, peer pressure, and a digital consumer culture. A religious campus environment, the role of lecturers, and Islamic student organizations have proven to play a significant role in supporting the internalization process of these sharia values. This study recommends strengthening practical-based Islamic economic character education so that sharia values are not only understood theoretically but are also reflected in the students’ real-life behavior.

Abstract

The application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management principles plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the halal industry’s economy. The environmental principle emphasizes the need for environmentally friendly halal production through proper waste management, energy efficiency, and the implementation of a circular economy that focuses on environmental preservation. The social principle includes aspects of justice, protection of workers’ rights, community empowerment, and the fulfillment of the halalan thayyiban principles that ensure safety, health, and benefits for consumers. Meanwhile, the governance principle serves to establish a transparent and accountable regulatory system based on sharia values, thereby strengthening public trust and the integrity of the halal industry. This ESG-based governance model not only reinforces the halal industry ecosystem at the national level but also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally. Furthermore, the implementation of this model encourages the halal industry to adapt to international market demands, expand global networks, and increase investment attractiveness based on sustainability. However, challenges in implementation still include regulatory harmonization, consistency in standard application, and the readiness of business actors to fully adopt ESG principles. Therefore, synergy among the government, business sector, academia, society, and halal certification institutions becomes the key to success. This study is expected to provide both conceptual and practical contributions in developing an inclusive, sustainable, and ethically oriented halal industry governance model grounded in sharia values.

Abstract

In this digital era, consumers tend to prefer shopping online rather than offline. This shift influences consumer buying interest and their online shopping habits. Buying interest refers to the desire to own a product. Brand image and promotion play an important role in influencing consumer purchasing decisions. This study aims to determine whether brand image and promotion affect the buying interest of Shopee application users at IAI Ibrahimy Genteng. The research employs a quantitative approach with a causal associative method. The subjects of this study were 43 students of the 2020 cohort from the Islamic Economics Department, who were selected as both the sample and population using a total sampling technique. The research variables include X1 (Brand Image), X2 (Promotion), and Y (Buying Interest). Data were collected through observation and questionnaire techniques. Statistical analysis was conducted using the SPSS program, which included instrument validity and reliability tests, regression analysis, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing. The results show that brand image does not have a partial effect on buying interest in the Shopee application among the 2020 Islamic Economics students, with a significance value of 0.525 > 0.05. In contrast, promotion has a partial effect on buying interest in the Shopee application among the same students, with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. Simultaneously, both brand image and promotion have a significant effect on buying interest in the Shopee application among the 2020 Islamic Economics students, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of how Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) can implement strategic management in the modern era while maintaining the values of Islamic academic tradition. This study focuses on MA Nurul Islam Ganding Sumenep, which seeks to incorporate digital systems into its management while maintaining the characteristics of an Islamic boarding school. This research was conducted qualitatively through a case study. After being collected through field observations, interviews, and document reviews, data were analyzed through the steps of data condensation, presentation, and verification using an interpretive approach. The results show that Islamic boarding schools can balance tradition with innovation by using three main strategies: incorporating traditional values into digital planning, changing leadership styles to an adaptive and collaborative model, and improving human resources to address digital challenges. This process demonstrates that modernizing Islamic boarding schools does not mean abandoning Islamic values, but rather using technology to expand them. This study demonstrates that values-based strategic management also known as value-based strategic management can connect spirituality, culture, and technological advancements to keep Islamic boarding schools relevant, superior, and competitive in the digital era

Abstract

Improving the quality of Islamic educational institutions is a strategic challenge in the modern era that demands the integration of Islamic values with a professional management system. This study analyzes the application of strategic management in improving the quality of education at the Nurul Masyithoh Lumajang Foundation, one of the oldest women's Islamic educational institutions in East Java. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used, with data obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of foundation administrators, madrasah heads, teachers, and other related parties. The results of the study show that the foundation implements three main strategies: strengthening human resources through continuous training and coaching, developing a curriculum based on character and the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah, and implementing a structured and participatory quality management system. The implementation of this strategy has been proven to improve the academic quality, discipline, and religious character of students. This research emphasizes that strategic management based on Islamic values is an effective instrument in maintaining the sustainability of the quality of Islamic educational institutions. These findings can be a conceptual model for the development of similar institutions in facing the challenges of globalization and modernization of education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality control (QC) management in maintaining the flavor consistency of Robusta Coffee products and examine its implementation according to the perspective of Sharia Economics at the X-Barue Kalibaru Home Industry. This descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach utilizes the Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) cycle and flowchart analysis tools within the Total Quality Management (TQM) framework. Primary data sources were obtained through interviews and direct observation. Findings indicate that the X-Barue Home Industry successfully maintains flavor consistency through natural method-based control, supported by the disciplined application of the PDCA cycle at every processing stage. Essentially, the business practices observed, such as honesty, willingness to provide compensation (responsibility/guarantee), and high meticulousness, inherently reflect core Sharia values such as amanah (trustworthiness) and the maslahah (public interest) principle. The novelty of this study lies in modeling a holistic QC that integrates the technical discipline of quality management with Islamic business ethics. The implication is the strengthening of the Sharia Economics framework, demonstrating that sustainable product quality is an inseparable part of Islamic business practices.
