Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of a social media campaign in promoting healthy lifestyles among adolescents. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method to measure the effectiveness, attitudes, and behaviours of social media campaigns in influencing healthy lifestyle awareness and attitudes among adolescents aged 15-19 years old. The sample will be taken using a purposive sampling technique involving 300 respondents who fulfil the criteria, namely adolescents who follow healthy lifestyle campaigns on social media. Data were processed to describe the profile of the respondents, their level of exposure to the campaign, and their general views on health behaviours. Bivariate analysis showed a significant association between health literacy and healthy behaviours (p = 0.002). Audio-visual media had the highest effectiveness rate (85%), followed by leaflets (65%). Audio visual media was found to be more effective in delivering campaign messages than leaflets, with an effectiveness rate of 85% compared to 40%. The results showed that health promotion through social media has great potential to encourage adolescents to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Occupational safety is a very important aspect in the manufacturing industry, given the high risk of work accidents that can occur in this environment. The manufacturing industry is known for the use of heavy machinery, hazardous chemicals, and complex production processes, which increase the chance of occupational accidents if there is no effective work safety system (Fauzi, 2024). This research uses quantitative and qualitative approaches (mixed methods). The quantitative approach was used to measure the level of compliance with work safety policies and its impact on work accidents. Table 1 shows that the variables of knowledge, motivation and personality have a significant value > 0.05. Table 2 shows that the variables of training and communication do not have a significant relationship with labour compliance in using PPE. Table 3 shows that the PPE availability variable does not have a significant relationship with labour compliance in using PPE. It is important that companies continue to develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, involve workers in the drafting process, and provide ongoing training to create a safer and more productive work environment.

Abstract

Nutritional problems remain a serious challenge in global public health, including in Indonesia. Malnutrition and unbalanced nutritional consumption often contribute to various health problems, such as stunting in children, obesity, and non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. The Internet, social media, health apps, and other digital tools provide opportunities to inform the public about the importance of proper nutrition and offer practical strategies for adopting healthy eating patterns. This study aims to explore the role of ICT in improving community nutrition awareness and practices, and to analyze how the use of technology can support nutrition interventions more effectively. This study uses a quantitative approach. The qualitative approach was used to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences, perceptions, and barriers experienced by the community and health workers in using ICT for nutrition education. The sample of this study included 10 respondents for the quantitative part, which were divided into 5 treatment groups and 5 control groups. The study was conducted at the Batang Kuranji Health Center which was implemented in June 2024. The results in both groups before the provision of educational media tended to be lower in the control group (infographics) and the treatment group (web), with a comparison of poor attitude results of 60%-40%. Community attitudes towards the use of IT in improving nutrition practices showed varied responses.

Abstract

Background: Menopause is a natural phase in a woman's life marked by the cessation of menstruation and a decrease in estrogen and progesterone hormones. In older adults, menopause can lead to physical and emotional changes, such as hot flashes, mood swings, and an increased risk of osteoporosis and heart disease. Purpose: To provide appropriate care for elderly women experiencing menopause and its associated problems. Methods: This case study uses a descriptive observational approach with a Continuity of Care framework for a 62-year-old woman undergoing menopause. Data collection involved anamnesis, observation, physical examination, and documentation, with data analysis comparing the findings to existing theoretical frameworks. Results: The elderly woman reported frequent feelings of warmth in her face and neck, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. She also experienced mood fluctuations, anxiety, and loneliness, although there were no significant signs of depression. Physical examination revealed a blood pressure of 120/80 mmHg, a pulse rate of 78 beats per minute, and a body temperature of 36.5°C. Laboratory tests showed a slight deficiency in vitamin D. Care interventions included menopause education, dietary advice rich in calcium and vitamin D, relaxation techniques for hot flashes, and follow-up visits. Implications: Interventions such as menopause education, a calcium and vitamin D-rich diet, and relaxation techniques can help elderly women manage menopause symptoms. Conclusion: The Continuity of Care approach can alleviate the physical and emotional complaints of elderly women, improve their quality of life, and help maintain optimal health.

Abstract

Proper nutrition during pregnancy plays a crucial role in supporting fetal development and maintaining the mother's health. However, there is still a knowledge gap among pregnant women, especially in rural and remote areas, regarding the importance of nutritional intake during pregnancy. This study is aimed at comprehensively analyzing the impact of maternal nutritional intake on maternal health and growth. Methods. The study involves 150 purposively selected pregnant women who visited Puskesmas, health clinics, or maternal and child hospitals in Padang City during the 6-month period of the study. The data collection technique is done by interviewing pregnant women using questionnaires related to demographics and diet. The collected data will be analysed using statistical methods, descriptive test to see the general description of the characteristics of pregnant women and their nutritional intake, and chi square test to analyse the relationship between nutritional intake and infant birth weight (LBW). Results. Most pregnant women had a moderate level of knowledge about nutrition (46.7%), but there were 40% who had low knowledge. There was a significant relationship between pregnant women's knowledge level about nutrition and nutrient intake and its impact on LBW. Conclusions. Pregnant women have a low knowledge level regarding nutrition, which in turn affects foetal health, growth, and quality of life. With these measures, it is hoped that the risk of pregnancy complications due to malnutrition can be minimised and the quality of maternal and infant health can be significantly improved.

Abstract

Administrative innovation is crucial for enhancing health service quality. As health systems evolve, effective administration can expedite service delivery, minimize patient wait times, and enhance the accuracy of patient data. In today's society, there are heightened expectations for health service quality, including information accuracy and accessibility. Implementing innovative, technology-driven administrative systems can bolster public trust in healthcare institutions. This study investigates the changes before and after the implementation of such innovations, assessing their effectiveness in addressing common administrative challenges. Employing a qualitative case study methodology with a descriptive approach allows for an in-depth exploration of administrative innovation processes in specific health facilities and their impacts on service quality. Key respondents include health workers—doctors, nurses, and administrative staff—directly involved in these innovations, alongside patients who evaluate their satisfaction with the changes.Findings indicate positive responses from both health workers and patients regarding the innovations. Health workers reported increased efficiency in their tasks, while patients experienced improved service quality. Despite challenges such as the need for training and concerns over data privacy, there is optimism for continued development of these innovations to foster a more modern and efficient healthcare system. Ultimately, an integrated approach to administrative innovation aims to achieve safer, more efficient, and higher-quality health services accessible to all community members.

Abstract

Plastic waste has become one of the major problems threatening the environment and human healthIn Indonesia, the use of plastics in daily life, such as shopping bags, water bottles, and food packaging, contributes greatly to the increasing amount of plastic waste (Ditjen PPKL, 2018). This research aims to analyse effective plastic waste management strategies to reduce negative impacts on the environment. The research uses a mixed-method approach, a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the condition of plastic waste and identify the factors that influence the effectiveness of such management. This method is relevant for evaluating waste management policies, the role of the community, and the application of environmentally friendly technologies. This study will be conducted in several areas that have high plastic waste production rates, such as urban, coastal, and areas with community-based waste management initiatives. The results show that community awareness level participation in recycling high 60% p = 0.001 This shows that environmental education is very important to increase community participation. Community-based education is needed to raise this awareness. A massive education campaign is needed, involving community leaders to strengthen positive social norms.

Abstract

Labor pain is a significant challenge for expectant mothers, affecting both the psychological and physiological aspects of pregnant woman. Non-pharmacological pain management approaches, such as aromatherapy, have gained attention for their effectiveness and minimal side effects. This study aimed to assess the impact of bitter orange aromatherapy on reducing labor pain during the first stage of labor at Inpatient Clinic Pratama Ibu Hawa in 2024. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measures was employed, involving 22 multigravida women in active labor. The intervention group received bitter orange aromatherapy via a diffuser for 60 minutes, while the control group received standard care. Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results indicated a significant reduction in pain intensity after the intervention, with a notable shift from moderate to mild pain in the experimental group (p = 0.000, 95% CI = (5.098-8.876). These findings suggest that bitter orange aromatherapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing labor pain, improving maternal comfort, and enhancing the overall labor experience. The study highlights the potential for integrating aromatherapy into routine maternal care, offering an accessible and cost-effective alternative to pharmacological methods. Further research is needed to explore its broader application and long-term benefits in various clinical settings.
