Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the distribution system of cocoa agricultural products in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province, with a focus on maintaining a balance between market demand and supply. The research employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods, involving interviews, field observations, and documentation of insights from distribution actors, cocoa farmers, and other relevant stakeholders. Findings reveal that the current distribution system largely relies on conventional practices, which tend to be inefficient and inadequate in addressing rapid market changes. Key structural issues—including limited infrastructure, low accessibility to market information, and underdeveloped distribution institutions—continue to hinder responsiveness and scalability. As a result, farmers and small-scale distributors often struggle to meet quality standards and market expectations. To address these challenges, the study underscores the need to implement a more technology-driven distribution mechanism, incorporating digital platforms and logistical innovations to streamline supply chains. Additionally, collaborative efforts among stakeholders such as cooperatives, government agencies, and private sector actors are essential to create a more adaptive and inclusive distribution system. These improvements aim not only to enhance operational efficiency but also to ensure long-term sustainability by reinforcing the local cocoa industry's resilience. Ultimately, the research recommends strategic policy support and coordinated multi-stakeholder engagement to establish a distribution framework that fosters competitiveness while preserving supply-demand equilibrium.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze robusta coffee marketing strategies implemented by business actors in West Lampung Regency in order to increase product competitiveness in local and export markets. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation studies of coffee farmers, MSME players, cooperatives, and related government agencies. The results showed that the dominant marketing strategies include improving product quality, establishing local brands, utilizing social media as a means of promotion, and partnerships with cooperatives and exporters. However, there are constraints in terms of quality standardization, limited access to global markets, and weak capacity for self-promotion. Therefore, policy interventions are needed in the form of strengthening farmer institutions, facilitating product certification, digital marketing training, and support in developing product innovation. This study recommends an integrated strategy between the local government, business actors, and other stakeholders to strengthen the position of West Lampung robusta coffee as a leading commodity that is competitive in domestic and international markets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the empowerment strategies of coffee farmers in improving welfare through the implementation of sustainable agriculture in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. As one of Indonesia’s key robusta coffee production centers, the region holds significant potential for further development. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving farmers, farmer group leaders, agricultural extension officers, and other relevant stakeholders. The findings reveal that empowerment strategies have been implemented through training and extension programs, strengthening farmer organizations, enhancing access to financial capital and marketing channels, and adopting environmentally friendly farming practices. These strategies have had a positive impact on farmers, particularly in increasing their knowledge of sustainable agriculture, raising household incomes, and improving overall quality of life. However, several challenges remain, such as low literacy levels among farmers, reliance on middlemen for product distribution, and uneven implementation of support programs across communities. To ensure long-term success, collaboration among local government agencies, farmer groups, and private sector entities is essential. Building strong, integrated support systems will help address existing barriers and encourage broader participation in sustainable coffee farming initiatives ultimately empowering farmers and promoting inclusive agricultural growth in the region.

Abstract

This study explores the roles of intensification and extensification in the development of cocoa commodities in Pesawaran and Tanggamus districts. Intensification involves optimizing agricultural practices to increase cocoa yields per unit area, such as applying modern technologies, improving soil fertility, and adopting effective cultivation techniques. Extensification, on the other hand, focuses on expanding cocoa cultivation areas by utilizing previously unused or underutilized land. The research adopts a qualitative approach through interviews with cocoa farmers, agricultural extension agents, and relevant stakeholders. Secondary data from agricultural statistics and government reports are also analyzed to gain a broader understanding of cocoa development trends. The primary aim is to evaluate how these two strategies intensification and extensification contribute to improving productivity and farmers’ livelihoods. By comparing the outcomes in each region, the study seeks to identify best practices and challenges associated with implementing both approaches. The expected findings will offer insights into sustainable cocoa farming strategies and highlight the potential of cocoa as a key economic crop in these regions. Additionally, the study aims to generate policy recommendations for local governments to support cocoa development in a way that balances productivity, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic advancement.
