Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that is a threat to health due to increased morbidity and mortality rates. This disease burdens sufferers, families who care for them, and the country. Problems that often arise are pain as an effect of insulin injection. One of the interventions that can be done independently is a cold compress. To analyze the effect of cold compress on the pain scale of insulin injection. The research design used a quasi-experimental with a pretest and a post-test with a control group design. The study was conducted at the Mijen I Health Center in August 2024—a sample of 15 clients for each group through purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria were diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus, blood sugar measurement results 120 mg/dl (fasting blood sugar) or 140 mg/dl (random blood sugar), and received insulin injection. Exclusion criteria were respondents who withdrew and consumed analgesic drugs. This research instrument used the Numeric Rating Scale. Researchers provided cold compress intervention with a temperature of 13-16 0 C once for 3 days. Data analysis using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Cold compresses have a significant effect on the insulin injection pain scale with a p = 0.008 (p 0.05). Cold compresses reduce the insulin injection pain scale. Health centers can develop interventions by providing cold compresses to treat pain caused by insulin injections.

Abstract

An electronic medical record (RME) is a real-time, patient-centered medical record that provides information directly and securely to authorized users. With the novelty of RME in the health world, there are still not many studies that address the evaluation of RME in various aspects. This study is to determine the results of the evaluation of RME implementation in terms of roles, programs, regulations obj, objectives/ideal conditions, and hospital income. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The method used is the interview—data processing with data reduction, organization, and interpretation. The data processing process is processed descriptively. The research was conducted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital for 4 months from February to June 2024. Sampling technique with purposive sampling to officers related to medical records as many as 4 participants. Inclusion criteria are officers who manage medical records, patient service managers, and case mix. Exclusion criteria: refused to participate in the study. The results showed that RME is running well and has a positive influence in the ICU in terms of roles/functions, programs, regulations, expected goals, and income generation. In the role/function aspect, the informants have carried out their duties well in supporting RME. In the aspect of the program, it has been running well in accordance with the provisions; in the aspect of regulations, there is an SPO RME; in the aspect of goals, RME is beneficial for improving services even though several ideal conditions have not been achieved. In terms of revenue, implementing RME plays a role in increasing hospital revenue. The ideal conditions expected are continuous improvement and socialization through RME and health technology development.

Abstract

Health workers dedicate themselves to the health sector, have knowledge, skills and education, and require authority to carry out health efforts (Law No. 36 of 2009). Increasing health costs should be balanced with efforts to improve the quality of health services, especially for health workers in hospitals. Knowing the relationship between nurse workload and nurses' emotional intelligence in the inpatient room at Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital. This research uses a cross-sectional quantitative research approach; the independent variable is workload, and the dependent variable is emotional intelligence. The location is in the RSI Kudus inpatient room, with a total sample of 66 nurses, with side sampling probability sampling based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Time of research in June 2022. The instruments used are the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire courtesy of NHS London. Data analysis using tests spearman rho. Spearman Rho test obtained P value = 0.027 0.05 and has a correlation coefficient value of -0.272, which means that the strength correlation/relationship between workload and emotional intelligence is reasonably strong and has a negative relationship direction. There is a Relationship between Workload and the Emotional Intelligence of Nurses in the Inpatient Room at Sunan Kudus Islamic Hospital. Increasing the number of nurses per room is necessary to minimize the high workload.

Abstract

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) causes the blood supply to the lungs to decrease, and blood does not enter the heart. This condition causes a buildup of fluid in the lungs, thereby reducing the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Heart failure patients who experience chronic iron deficiency can increase the prevalence of anemia. Analyzing the Relationship between the degree of shortness of breath and low iron diet habits with a decrease in hemoglobin levels in CHF patients. This type of correlational analytical research uses a cross-sectional approach with independent variables (Degree of Shortness of Breath and Low Iron Consumption Habits) and dependent variables (CHF Patients). This research was conducted in October 2023 at a private hospital. The total sample was 31 respondents using consecutive sampling techniques. The instruments used were observation sheets measuring RR and hemoglobin, iron consumption behavior questionnaires. Data analysis used Spearman Rho test. There is a significant relationship between the degree of shortness of breath (p=0,000; r=-0,861) and iron consumption habits (p=0,000; r=0,913) with hemoglobin levels in CHF patients. The degree of shortness of breath and low iron consumption cause anemia in CHF patients. The hospital can provide interventions to monitor the degree of shortness of breath, provide foods high in iron to increase hemoglobin in CHF patients, and consider aspects of the degree of shortness of breath.

Abstract

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are prevalent in nearly all healthcare facilities worldwide. The most effective way to prevent these infections is to implement universal precautions during patient care in hospitals consistently. In Indonesia, the reported incidence of HAIs is significantly higher than the rates in developed countries. Several risk factors influence the occurrence of HAIs, including advanced age, compromised immune systems, disruptions to anatomical barriers, the presence of implanted foreign objects, and changes in normal microflora caused by antibiotic use. If not addressed promptly, non-compliance with Universal Precautions can lead to various adverse outcomes for patients, including potential disability or even death. This research aims to analyze the relationship between workload and compliance with the implementation of Universal Precautions among healthcare workers. The study used an analytic correlation design with a cross-sectional approach, targeting healthcare staff working in the Emergency Department of Bhakti Wira Tamtama Hospital in Semarang, totaling 33 participants. A total sampling technique was used for participant selection. The research utilized a workload questionnaire and an observation sheet for Universal Precaution compliance. Data analysis using the Chi-Square test revealed a significant relationship between workload and compliance with Universal Precautions among healthcare workers, with a p-value of 0.000 (p0.05). The findings of this study highlight the importance of providing additional education for healthcare workers who have limited knowledge and awareness of Universal Precautions to enhance compliance and reduce the incidence of HAIs.

Abstract

Fractures are a serious health problem that threatens public health. Every year, there is an increasing trend in fracture cases in each region. Injuries, including traffic accidents, cause fracture cases, falls from high places, and bone fragility factors. If not treated properly, the impact of a fracture is symptoms such as deformity, loss of sensation (numbness, possibly due to nerve damage/bleeding), abnormal movement, swelling, and pain. To know the correlation of self-efficacy and pain intensity with early mobilization ability in post-ORIF surgery patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Pamotan Hospital. The type of research used correlational analysis with a cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted at PKU Muhammadiyah Pamotan Hospital in August 2023-September 2023. The sample size was 34 respondents with a total sampling technique. The instruments used were a General self-efficacy (GSE) self-efficacy questionnaire, a Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) pain intensity assessment, and an early mobilization ability questionnaire in post-ORIF surgery patients. The data analysis used Spearman Rho statistics. The study showed a good relationship between self-efficacy (p=0.000) and pain intensity (p=0.000) with the ability to mobilize post-ORIF surgery patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Pamotan Hospital early. Self-efficacy and pain intensity influence post-op patients' early mobilization ability. Nurses need to increase the patient's self-confidence to carry out early mobilization and provide pain management to minimize the causes of the patient's inability to mobilize early, which is related to the pain complaints they feel.
