Abstract

Paving blocks are becoming more popular among consumers because they are environmentally friendly, can save groundwater, are easy to install and maintain, and have many shapes that add aesthetic value. This study aims to determine the difference of shells on the water absorption capacity of paving blocks and the strength of paving blocks. Experiments were conducted at the structure and materials laboratory of Muhammadiyah University of Parepare from August to October 2023 for this research method. The results showed that the water absorption of paving blocks was influenced by the addition of seashells. The water absorption values of the 0%, 5%, 10%, and 25% variations were 1.4 percent, 2 percent, 3.4 percent, and 3.7 percent for the 7-day treatment period; 0.6 percent, 1.7 percent, 2.4 percent, and 3.3 percent for the 14-day treatment period; and 1.3%, 2.8 percent, 3.0 percent, and 4.6 percent for the 28- day treatment period. According to the above results, the more clamshells added, the greater the water absorption. The compressive strength shows that the addition of clamshells affects the compressive strength of block paving. The compressive strength values were 23.841 Mpa, 9.365 Mpa, 21.587 Mpa, and 11.429 Mpa at the 28-day curing age, respectively. The more clamshells added, the lower the compressive strength.

Abstract

Gunadarma University operates multiple campuses, each equipped with its own library. To ensure equitable access to newly acquired titles, it is imperative that these materials are disseminated across all campus libraries. So, when a new book title is added, this book must also be owned by the library at each campus location. In this research, book distribution routes with the shortest distance and time will be determined using the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) method with Excel Solver. Gunadarma University has a central library which is the starting point for distributing books to other campuses. The central university library serves as the distribution hub, from which books are dispatched to seven additional campus locations. Simulation results using Excel Solver showed that the shortest route for sending books to seven library locations on the Gunadarma University campus using one vehicle was a distance of 137.14 km in 3 hours 12 minutes. This optimized route yielded substantial cost savings, amounting to a 12.5% reduction compared to previous distribution practices.

Abstract

Steel pipes remain the preferred choice for distribution and crude oil installation pipes in the oil and gas industry due to their strength, surface hardness, and cost-effectiveness. However, their susceptibility to corrosion in harsh environments poses significant challenges. This research focuses on analyzing the corrosion rate of API 5L X-42 steel in a crude oil environment at a temperature of 40°C. The corrosion rate was determined using the weight loss method, revealing that the rate varies over time. The findings of this study provide crucial insights for the industry, particularly in preventing leaks in crude oil installation pipes caused by corrosion. By understanding the corrosion behavior of steel pipes under specific conditions, the oil and gas industry can implement more effective maintenance strategies and material selection, ultimately enhancing the safety and longevity of pipeline infrastructure. The study highlights the importance of regular monitoring and the adoption of preventive measures to mitigate corrosion-related issues, thereby ensuring the continuous and safe operation of oil and gas installations

Abstract

This study aims to examine the information system strategy in supporting the alignment between business needs and technology utilization through the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) approach. In a dynamic business environment, understanding external opportunities and threats, as well as the organization's internal capabilities, is an important foundation in designing information systems that can drive efficiency, effectiveness, and competitive advantage. Information systems not only play a role as operational support, but also as a driver of strategic transformation through innovation in processes, structures, and organizational culture. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The analysis techniques used include Critical Success Factors (CSF), Balanced Scorecard (BSC), and gap analysis to map actual conditions and determine future strategies. The results of the study are expected to produce an application portfolio that is in accordance with the needs of the organization, as well as a BPR strategy that is oriented towards improving service quality, reducing costs, and customer satisfaction. The strategic value of information systems is largely determined by the extent to which business understanding is integrated into the design of an adaptive system. Active participation at all levels of the organization, including through workshops based on actual data, is key to formulating effective and sustainable strategies.

Abstract

Amidst increasingly tight business competition and increasingly critical customers in choosing products or services, companies are required to build more personal and sustainable relationships through Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategies. The IDIC (Identify, Differentiate, Interact, Customize) model developed by Peppers and Rogers is one of the effective approaches in implementing CRM in a structured and strategic manner. This study aims to analyze the application of the IDIC Model in improving the effectiveness of customer relationship management. The approach used is qualitative with descriptive-analytical methods, through literature studies and literature analysis from various relevant sources. The results of the discussion show that the IDIC Model facilitates companies to recognize customers comprehensively, differentiate them based on value and needs, build meaningful interactions, and customize offers individually. Identify and Interact are included in the operational CRM realm, while Differentiate and Customize are part of analytical CRM that relies on customer data analysis. This model enables large-scale personalization, which is strengthened by big data technology and artificial intelligence (AI), so that companies can increase customer engagement, loyalty, and business profits sustainably. The application of the IDIC Model reflects a shift from mass marketing to a more relevant one-to-one marketing approach in the digital era
