Abstract

The results of the Basic Health Research (RISKESDAS) in 2018 showed that 67.8% of the Indonesian population aged more than 15 years experienced periodontal disease such as periodontitis. The incidence of periodontitis disease can occur and become more severe in the presence of systemic factors such as diabetes mellitus. People with diabetes mellitus experience several health complications caused by increased blood sugar levels, blood vessels, and nerves, including the gums. This can weaken the bone surrounding the teeth and gums, and increase the risk of other oral diseases, such as tooth loss and dental caries caused by the weakening of tooth attachment to the gums and a decrease in the rate of saliva in the mouth. Efforts to prevent the occurrence of periodontal disease and other oral and dental disease infections in patients with diabetes mellitus are by conducting health education and monitoring programs for patients. The goal is to increase knowledge, willingness, awareness, compliance and community participation in maintaining and maintaining dental health independently. The methods used in this service are interviews, observations and the implementation of training and health monitoring for respondents. Based on the results of the activities that have been carried out in the service, the respondents gave a positive response and there was an increase in knowledge, awareness and motivation in maintaining their health

Abstract

Dental and oral health problems are often experienced by children with special needs. Limitations in physical and mental development can affect the process of maintaining dental and oral health. Children with special needs in the disabled group have disorders where their body parts are not perfect because they experience disabilities caused by damage to the bones, muscles, and joints so that they do not function normally. The shortcomings of children with physical impairments require parental assistance in maintaining dental and oral health. Providing counseling and giving pocketbooks to parents is an alternative to strengthening the maintenance of dental and oral health for children with physical impairments. This community service activity was carried out at SLB Jepara on a sample of children with physical impairments. The method used in this activity is the Health system approach, namely: Input – Process – Output. The results of the service carried out showed a decrease in the debris index value in children. The good debris index category after implementation was obtained by all respondents. The dental and oral hygiene pocketbook for parents of physically disabled children is used as a tool to increase parents' knowledge about dental and oral health and hygiene.

Abstract

Elementary school age children are classified as a group that is prone to dental and oral diseases, this is because in elementary school age children behavior in caring for dental and oral health is still lacking. The results of Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018 showed that 54.0% of dental and oral health problems were 5-9 years old in school. The dental and oral health of school-age children needs serious attention from health workers, both from dentists and dental and oral therapists. The most common disease suffered by elementary school-age children is caries. The main cause of caries is due to the continuous accumulation of plaque that is not cleaned. Dental health education needs to be instilled from an early age in children so that they know the right way to maintain the health and hygiene of their teeth and mouth. Efforts to prevent the occurrence of dental and oral diseases in elementary school children are by conducting a dental and oral health education program for students. The goal is to increase students' knowledge in maintaining and maintaining dental health. The methods used in this service are the method of playing, lecturing, and demonstrating to the respondents. Based on the results of the activities that have been carried out in the service, the respondents gave a positive response and there was an increase in knowledge and dental and oral hygiene.

Abstract

Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) is an advanced radiology technique used to analyze brain metabolites, particularly in the diagnosis of abnormalities such as Space Occupying Lesion (SOL). Variations in parameters, such as Time Echo (TE), can affect the resulting spectrum, making it important to understand their impact. This study aims to analyze the effect of TE variations on MRS spectrum results in patients with SOL through a literature review. The methodology used is a literature review, collecting and analyzing various previous studies that discuss the impact of TE variations in MRS examinations. Data sources are taken from scientific journals, articles, and books relevant to the research topic. The literature review shows that TE variations, both short TE and long TE, have a significant impact on signal intensity and the types of metabolites detected in the MRS spectrum. These results indicate that the appropriate selection of TE can enhance diagnostic accuracy in detecting SOL. Data analysis shows significant differences in the Area Under Curve (AUC) values of the metabolites NAA, Creatine, Choline, Lactate, and myo-Inositol between different TE usages. These findings indicate that TE variations affect signal intensity and the types of metabolites detected in the MRS spectrum. Time Echo variations have a significant effect on MRS spectrum results in patients with SOL, which can improve diagnostic accuracy and understanding of MRS techniques in clinical practice. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the development of knowledge in the field of radiology.

Abstract

Stroke is the number one cause of disability and the number three cause of death in the world after heart disease and cancer, in both developed and developing countries. This community service activity is to provide education to families regarding post-stroke depression; how to recognize and treat the effects of post-stroke depression independently at home. Implementation of community service activities in an effort to reduce the incidence of post-stroke depression by increasing family knowledge in recognizing and treating the impact of post-stroke depression at home with implementation and evaluation preparation stages with a target number of 30 people who have family or relatives who have suffered a stroke. This community service activity was carried out well and achieved the aim of the activity, namely increasing family knowledge regarding how to recognize and treat the impact of post-stroke depression. The family plays an important role in recognizing the symptoms of depression that appear after a stroke, as well as providing the necessary emotional and physical support. Through good communication and understanding of the patient's condition, families can help speed up recovery and improve quality of life. Apart from that, collaboration with health workers is very necessary to provide appropriate interventions and support patients' mental health. Thus, the active role of the family is very influential in overcoming the negative impacts of post-stroke depression

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe radiation dose received by patients during Thorax examination can vary from one hospital to another. For this reason, the Indonesian government through BAPETEN has set the Indonesian Diagnostic Reference Levels in 2021 as a reference for radiation doses in medical imaging. This study aims to determine whether there is a comparison of these doses with the IDRL 2021 reference. This study is a quantitative study with an experimental and survey approach conducted at Tlogorejo Hospital, Semarang. The radiation dose value in the form of Entrance Surface Air Kerma (ESAK) was collected at Tlogorejo Hospital, Semarang. The ESAK value was obtained through simulation or measurement using a digital dosimeter placed on the surface of the water phantom for Thorax examination. The examination parameters used are standard parameters for adult Thorax examination in patients weighing 50-70 kg. Overall, 87 ESAK values were collected from Tlogorejo Hospital, Semarang. The results showed significant variations in the radiation dose of Thorax examination in hospitals with an average dose of 0.145 mGy. While the median ESAK value is 0.095 mGy. However, the study showed that the median ESAK value of Thorax examination at the hospital where the study was conducted was still within the IDRL 2021 recommendation limit, which was below 0.4 mGy. This study shows the importance of continuous optimization efforts to ensure radiation safety in patients undergoing diagnostic radiology examinations.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the main causes of death in women throughout the world. A total of 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 670,000 deaths worldwide. Early detection is very important to increase the success of treatment, one of which is breast self-examination (BSE). However, there are still many suburban age women who lack knowledge about BSE. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of health education about BSE on increasing knowledge of early breast cancer detection in suburban-age women in the Garung Community Health Center working area. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The  sample consisted of 5 women of childbearing age who were selected using the Accidental Sampling Technique. The research results showed that there was a significant increase in the level of knowledge of respondents after being given BSE health education. Before the intervention, only 20% of respondents had a good level of knowledge, while after the intervention, this figure increased to 100%. The Wilcoxon test shows a p value of 0.043 (<0.05), which indicates that there is a significant influence of health education on increasing respondents' knowledge. Health education about BSE has a positive effect on increasing knowledge of early detection of breast cancer in women of childbearing age.
