Abstract

Untuk perancangan pola Diklat bagi Pejabat Fungsional dengan dasar keahlian Radiokimia dan kimia radiasi, berdasarkan telaahan yang lampau, perlu ditelusuri Program Kegiatan Unit Kerja yang berkaitan dengan keahlian dasar radiokimia dan kimia radiasi. Kegiatan ini dapat dilihat pada usulan Proyek masing-masing unit kerja tersebut, yaitu yang meliputi kurun waktu 1995/1996 yang dianggap mewakili kegiatan selama PELITA VI. Penelusuran dilakukan pada kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan jenis kegiatan dan bidang keahlian seperti yang telah dilaporkan pada tahun yang lalu. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa diklat penjenjangan bagi pejabat fungsional dengan dasar keahlian Radiokimia dan Kimia Radiasi pada dasarnya dapat dikelompokkan ke dalam kegiatan Proses Analisis, dalam bentuk Diklat, Pelatihan Keahlian, dan Bimbingan Keahlian.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Salah satu cara melindungi manusia dari radiasi adalah penggunaan penahan radiasi. Perhitungan penahan radiasi dilakukan dengan memperhatikan jenis dan energi radiasi dan berdasarkan interaksi radiasi dengan materi dapat diketahui bahan perisai yang tepat. Dalam tulisan ini dibahas perhitungan perisai radiasi untuk alpha, beta, gamma dan sinar-X. ABSTRACT Radiation shielding utilization is one of the methods in radiation protection. Computation of radiation shielding is implemented by considering type and energy of radiation, and it can be defined the most suitable material for certain type of radiation based on the interaction of radiation with matters. In this paper computation of radiation shielding againts alpha, beta, gamma and x-ray is disscussed.

Abstract

The famous Indian nuclear scientist, Dr. Homi Bhabha, coined the expression "no energy is more expensive than no energy". He meant that nothing is grimmer than living without any other energy than that of your own body. For a good life we need energy for cooking, heating, transportation, industrial production, communication, home appliances ... We take our cars. elevators. dish-washers, central heating and computers for granted in the industrialized societies. When we need power, we just plug in. Our energy and especially electricity consumption is big. The US uses some 13,500 kWh per person and year; my own country, Sweden, some 15000. But at the other end of the spectrum we have countries like Chad and Tanzania with less than 100 kWh per person and year. Nothing is more certain - and reasonable - than that countries at the lower end will seek to improve the lives of their people by increasing their energy and electricity consumption. * After-dinner speech delivered on Global Foundation, Inc. Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper is to report the results of literature studies on the latest development of systems-oriented research methodology. Scientific communities effort to modernize research methodology is based on the fact that research is no longer of academic interest only, but it has become an integral part of modern business practices that highly infuenced by market dynamics. Consequently, there is a strong pressure on the research institutions that they should be able to achieve and produce concrete research results effectively, eficiently, and productively, as well as meeting rapidly change market demand. ABSTRAK Tulisan ini melaporkan hasil studi literatur tentang perkembangan metodologi penelitian modern berwawasan sistem. Maksud para peneliti untuk memutakhirkan metodologi penelitian ialah karena sekarang penelitian bukan memenuhi selera akademik saja, tetapi sudah menjadi bagian integral yang tak terpisahkan dari kegiatan bisnis modern, sehingga sangat dipengaruhi oleh dinamika pasar. Akibatnya, institusi penelitian sangat dituntut untuk mampu berprestasi dan mampu menghasilkan karya-karya penelitian nyata secara efektif, efisien, dan produktif, sekaligus mampu memenuhi permintaan pasar yang cepat berubah.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Industri nuklir yang mendasarkan nilai tambahnya pada pemanfaatan iptek nuklir tidak luput dari ancaman korosi. Korosi di industri nuklir dapat menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi akibat berkurangnya masa produktif dan bahkan terjadinya kecelakaan. Dibahas sifat bahan yang digunakan di industri nuklir dan proses korosi serta pencegahan dan penanganannya. Disajikan kemungkinan pemanfaatan aktivasi lapisan tipis sebagai salah satu metoda analisis berdasarkan iptek nuklir untuk deteksi dan pengukuran laju korosi di industri nuklir. ABSTRACT Nuclear industries employing nuclear science and technology for its added value processes are object of corrosion. Corrosion in these industries may lead to an economic loss due to the decrease of the life-time and even an accident. Materials utilized in these industries as well as the corrosion processes and its protection and treatment are described. The possibility of thin layer activation utilization as a nuclear-based analytical method for detecting and measuring the corrosion rates in these industries is presented.
