Pollution in the rivers is generally caused by domestic and industrial waste. Some treatments to solve it can be done individually or collectively. The effort can be physical, chemical, or biological treatments chosen by its form, character, kind, quality, quantity. PT Van Melle Indonesia is a candy company which produces a high biological waste with COD concentration 10000-30000 mg/litre. This paper reports activated sludge reactor performance to decrease the waste’s organic content. The reactor is a biological waste water treatment, as a sequence of earlier anaerob process which still has a high COD (700-4000 mg/litre). A continued reactor operation done with retention time variation 24 hours, 18 hours, 12 hours, and 6 hours show reduced COD varied 80-90%. The highest efficiency was 97.59% from the 24 hours retention time, and the lowest efficiency was 89.5% from the 6 hours retention time. Keywords: activated sludge reactor, candy industry wastewater

Ninety percent from approximately 1200 plant species belonged to Piper genus(Piperaceae) have not been explorated their phytochemical potency and biological activities. Piper miniatum has beeing used traditionally in Papua as spices and tonic. However, the propagation effort has never been done yet so its population in nature is decresed gradually. Therefore, simple propagation is conducted that can be adopted by the local people in order to cultivate as well as to explore its potency as antibacterial agent. The propagation experiment was carried out using air layering method with variable treatment of internode maturity ( R1, R2, R3 ), growth medium (Selaginela sp.,Asplenium nidus root, compost) with completely randomized design with 10 replications.Air layering media using Asplenium nidus root of 18 weeks gave the best respon.Key words: Piper miniatum, Air layering.

Coastal areas in Muncar Banyuwangi has developed one of the largest fisherys industry centers in Indonesia. Fisherys industry in the production process using a fish as a main input and also need a lot of clean water. The impact of these activities is the occurrence of environmental pollution in the form of liquid waste and the unpleasant smell. Cleaner produktion is minimization of waste from source. The application of cleaner production with its assessment and identification to production process will create any innovations. In the cleaner production method contains several strategies that can be implemented forreducing and minimizing of industrial waste including prevention, recycling, treatment and disposing. One of prospective instruments that can be developed further in the industrial implementation of cleaner production is fisherys industry at Muncar Banyuwangi. The main opportunities to implementation of cleaner production, especially in stages using excessive water in the process of weeding and cleaning fish, stage of the main raw material the use of fish by re-sorting a more effective, and efficient charging process scattered on the tin.Key words : Cleaner production, fisherys industry

Muncar region known as the area of the fish and the fish processing industry. Many of the fish processing industries in large scale, small scale and household at this time growing so rapidly. With the rapid growth of the fish processing industry in the Muncar city has provided a very significant impact on the city growth, which eventually brought the various impacts, whether they are positive or negative. One of the negative impact of processing industry growth in Muncar is environmental of pollution is the discharge of liquid waste from industrial fish-processing industry. Low level of understanding IPAL waste management system and cause difficulties to manage the waste, therefore almostall waste that generated in the region immediately removed to the public channels. Waste disposal without treatment is causing high level of environmental pollution in the vicinity of the location of industry. One effort to solve the problem of waste-processing technology is determine processingof waste water and fish processing, it has been done to test prototype installation processing waste water in one of the fish processing industry in the Muncar District. Key words : fish processing industry waste water, environmetal pollution, waste water processing prototype.

Global warming has become an increasingly important issue around the world today due to the rise of anthropogenic greenhouse gases emission, which gives several negative impacts on human life. There are some techniques have been studied and assessed i.e. physical mechanism by injected CO2 to the geological formations, chemical mechanism with artificial tree technology and biological mechanism by increasing the primary production through iron enrichment in high nutrient-low chlorophyll (HNLC) waters as well as mixing of water column below the sea surface. Those technologies, which are well known as Carbon Capture Storage ‘(CCS) technology, are expected to be applied to reduce the oncentration of anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere and to minimize the global warming. The Center of Environmental Technology, Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) will carry out a research concerning CO2 reduction by a phytoplankton culture in a photobioreactor in three years. The main objective of this research is to assess the CO2 uptake capability of tropical phytoplankton. In this paper, we would showed the creteria and design to assembly a photobioreactor esspesially a air lift photobioreactor. To improve performance photobioreaktor, the materials included design criteria and the dynamics of fluids in fotobioreaktor have to considered propoerly. Other the hand, the selection of the most productive species and selection of appropriate media and economically also important to be done. Keywords: global warming, creteria and design, greenhouse gas, air lift photobioreactor

Population analysis of Nepenthes spp in peat swamp forest was conducted atKalampangan, Central Kalimantan on November-December 2007. This place include to part of one million hectare area of peat land project in 1996 which are planed to convert agricultural land. Peat swamp forest is one of commonly Nepenthes habitat at Kalampangan. One plot (50 x 100 m) was establihed for population analysis study. We found 230 individu from three species, that is; Nepenthes ampullaria, N. rafflesiana and N. gracilis. In study site, N. ampullaria is dominant species with Important Value (IV) is 120,43% and then followed by N. gracilis (IV= 97,30%) and N. rafflesiana (IV= 82,27%).Key Words : Population analysis, Nepenthes, peat swamp forest, Kalampangan,

Renewable energy fuelled power generations are not many developed by privatesector in Indonesia. The incentive provided by Indonesia government is not enough to encourage private sector to develop renewable energy fuelled power generation. Credit carbon as an additional revenue from Clean Development Mechanism is utilized in Ranteballa Hydro Power Plan development. This project contributes to reduce green effect gas generated in South Sulawesi grid system. This paper describes the calculation of emission reduction generated from the Ranteballa Hydro Power development, and also the evaluation regarding emission carbon produced in the recent five years. BPPT has a role of CDM facilitator in this project development, and has a collaboration with CDM in vestor, Chugoku Electric Power and the owner of the project PT Fajar Futura Energi Luwu. Key words : green house gasses, global warming, hydro power, emission factor, emissionreduction, electricity
