AAt Safety and Health for Medical Workers (SHMW; P-ISSN: 3048-3786, E-ISSN: 3047-9460), we measure the value of research not by indexation alone, but by credible novelty, methodological rigor, and demonstrable benefit to frontline practice. High indexing can amplify dissemination, yet it is secondary to evidence that reduces exposure, strengthens infection prevention, improves ergonomics, and supports psychosocial well-being across healthcare settings. We therefore prioritize manuscripts that propose bold, testable ideas; report transparent methods and reproducible analyses; and translate findings into implementable solutions for workers, institutions, and policymakers. We welcome implementation studies, mixed-methods designs, replications, and well-documented null or negative results, alongside open data/code and stakeholder co-design. Our commitment is simple: if research does not meaningfully improve safety and health at work, it remains incomplete regardless of ranking. We invite authors who share this purpose to advance actionable science with SHMW.

Abstract

Introduction; The COVID-19 outbreak has presented considerable obstacles for healthcare professionals, impacting their mental health with heightened levels of anxiety and stress. This research aims to comprehensively examine the anxiety and work-related stress encountered by healthcare workers at Puskesmas (Community Health Centers) amid the pandemic. Menthod; Employing a descriptive survey approach, 200 respondents from diverse healthcare roles across 15 health centers in Semarang City were surveyed using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS-42) and The Workplace Stress Scale (WSS). Utilizing SPSS version 25, the collected data underwent descriptive analysis. Result Innovation; Results indicated that a majority of respondents reported normal anxiety levels, with 17.1% experiencing varying degrees of anxiety, from mild to severe. Contributing factors included inadequate personal protective equipment, heightened workload, and insufficient social support. Conclusion; Psychological frameworks such as Occupational Stress and Adaptation Theory provided valuable insights into understanding and addressing individual responses to workplace stressors. It is imperative to address healthcare workers' anxiety and stress during the COVID-19 crisis to ensure their well-being and service quality. Implications and Theory: Effective interventions like support groups, counseling, and coping training are vital for mitigating adverse effects. This study underscores the necessity of tailored interventions informed by psychological theories, alongside emphasizing the importance of adequate protective gear, workload management, and social support in alleviating healthcare workers' anxiety and stress.

Abstract

Background: Ensuring occupational safety and health in nursing procedures is essential to mitigate risks for both nurses and patients. Adhering to protocols and implementing patient safety targets are crucial for error prevention.Method: This descriptive study correlates occupational safety measures with error reduction in nursing procedures. Patient safety targets are analyzed for their impact on nurse performance and patient outcomes.Result Innovation: Implementation of six patient safety targets enhances nurse adherence to procedures, reducing errors and promoting patient safety. Effective communication and oversight of medication administration are highlighted as key factors.Conclusion: Prioritizing nurse safety through occupational safety measures improves patient care quality by minimizing errors. Professionalism and positive attitudes among nurses contribute significantly to error prevention and overall safety.Implications and Theory: Effective implementation of occupational safety measures not only safeguards nurses' well-being but also enhances patient care outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of proactive safety measures and positive attitudes in nursing practice.

Abstract

Background: Handling medical records risks staff safety; an investigation found inadequate PPE use, dusty conditions, and risks from sharp edges.Methods: This descriptive qualitative study aimed to evaluate workplace health and safety in medical record storage. Data were collected through observations and interviews and then analyzed descriptively to understand the current safety measures and their effectiveness.Result Innovation: The findings indicate that although safety measures are in place, they are not fully effective. Notably, there are no specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for occupational safety in handling medical records. The use of PPE, such as gloves and masks, is insufficient, with gloves being used only 41% of the time.Novelty: This study highlights the gaps in current safety practices and the critical need for specific SOPs for occupational safety in medical record management. It underscores the importance of enhancing the utilization of PPE to ensure the safety of staff members.Implications and Theory: The study suggests that improving safety standards and increasing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) can significantly enhance the protection of staff involved in medical record handling. This has broader implications for workplace health and safety, emphasizing the need for comprehensive safety protocols and effective implementation of PPE in similar settings

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between the work environment, occupational health and safety (OHS), organizational commitment, and nurse performance in a hospital setting.Method: A quantitative approach was employed, gathering data from 83 nurse respondents at Madiun Hospital. Data analysis was conducted using the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach with the partial least squares technique through Smart PLS.Findings: The findings reveal significant positive correlations between the work environment and organizational commitment, OHS and organizational commitment, OHS and nurse performance, as well as organizational commitment and nurse performance. However, no significant relationship was found between the work environment and nurse performance.Novelty: This study contributes by highlighting the importance of a conducive work environment and OHS efforts in enhancing organizational commitment and nurse performance in hospitals.Research Implications: The implications of this study underscore the need to focus on improving the work environment and OHS in hospitals to enhance organizational commitment and nurse performance. This can aid hospital management in developing strategies to improve service quality and patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationships between Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Training, Teamwork, and medical personnel performance in hospital settings.Method: Data were collected from medical personnel in various hospitals, and multiple regression analysis was employed to examine the associations between OHS, Training, Teamwork, and medical personnel performance. Additionally, multicollinearity tests and Normal P-Plot Regression Standardized Residual analysis were conducted to ensure the reliability of the findings.Findings: The results indicate significant positive relationships between OHS, Training, Teamwork, and medical personnel performance. Specifically, conducive OHS environments, effective training programs, and collaborative teamwork dynamics were found to enhance medical personnel performance significantly.Novelty: This study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the importance of OHS, Training, and Teamwork in improving medical personnel performance. The findings underscore the critical role of these factors in optimizing healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.Research Implications: The findings suggest that healthcare organizations should prioritize creating safe and healthy work environments, investing in comprehensive training programs, and fostering effective teamwork practices to enhance medical personnel performance. These implications have significant implications for improving operational efficiency and patient care quality in healthcare settings
