Abstract

Purpose: This service activity aims to improve the skills and economic independence of the community through training in handicrafts based on lightweight brick waste. This activity was carried out in Krajan Hamlet, Ngrayung Village, Gandusari District, Trenggalek Regency, as an effort to utilize local potential that has not been exploited optimally and encourage the birth of household -based creative businesses. Method: Service uses a Community-based Research (CBR) approach with five main stages: Identification of problems, joint planning, participatory training, business assistance, and evaluation. Training is focused on the direct practice of manufacturing handicraft products such as bags and serving hoods from lightweight used brick ropes, which are guided by experienced local speakers. Practical Applications: This training has a real impact in equipping residents - especially housewives and youth - with new skills that can be applied independently at home. The products produced began to be marketed locally and through social media. This program also opens up opportunities for the formation of environmental -based small business groups and strengthens the spirit of mutual cooperation in developing the village economy. Conclusion: The results of the activity show that local potential-based training and environmentally friendly waste can be an effective strategy in empowering the economic community. In addition to improving the skills of residents, this activity also fosters awareness of the importance of productive plastic waste management. With continuous support, this training has the potential to develop into a sustainable micro business and reaches a wider market.

Abstract

Purpose: Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in strengthening the rural economy; however, many MSME operators still face limitations in managing financial administration. The lack of systematic financial records makes it difficult for business owners to evaluate performance and access financial support. This community service activity aims to improve financial literacy and basic financial recording skills among MSME operators in Talang 1 Village through direct education. Method: The activity employed a Service Learning (SL) approach that integrates student learning with community engagement. The implementation stages included preliminary observation, identification of community needs, preparation of training materials, and the delivery of a seminar entitled “The Importance of Financial Recording for Micro Enterprises.” The materials were presented using a participatory and practical approach, supported by case studies and simple daily cash-recording worksheets. Practical Applications: The seminar involved 15 local MSME operators who had not previously received similar training. Participants gained knowledge of basic financial recording, income and expense tracking, and strategies for separating personal and business finances. The participants showed strong enthusiasm and expressed willingness to apply financial recording practices independently. Conclusion: This activity demonstrates that context-based financial education can effectively improve financial literacy among rural MSME actors and support better business governance.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the effectiveness of the Digital Reading Corner (POCADI) in increasing reading interest in Kedunglurah Village, Pogalan District, Trenggalek Regency. The problem addressed is the low interest in reading among rural communities caused by limited access to quality reading materials and the absence of technology-based literacy facilities. Method: The method used in this research is Participatory Action Research. PAR (Participatory Action Research) is a collaborative research approach that emphasizes the direct and active involvement of participants throughout the research process. This method aims to empower communities by involving them in the process of identifying problems, formulating solutions, and implementing actions to address them. Practical Applications: POCADI effectively enhances reading interest by providing practical access to digital materials, familiarizing youth with technology, and fostering a sustainable literacy culture. It also integrates environmental education, encouraging awareness of cleanliness and waste management. Additional benefits include cost efficiency, improved human resources, and potential replication in other villages. Conclusion: Despite challenges such as limited devices, low digital literacy, and weak promotion, POCADI has proven effective in transforming rural literacy and strengthening community awareness of environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Purpose: The Community Service Program (KKN) in Pucanganak Village, Tugu District, Trenggalek Regency, aims to enhance community participation in creating an environmentally friendly village through the application of biopore infiltration technology. The main issue identified was the lack of technical knowledge among residents regarding the installation and maintenance of biopores, which hindered their optimal function in preserving groundwater reserves and reducing waterlogging. Method: This program adopted the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method, which emphasizes the utilization and enhancement of existing community assets, potentials, and strengths. The core principle of ABCD is to view the community from the perspective of its assets rather than its deficiencies. Through asset mapping, identification, and empowerment, communities are encouraged to become the main actors in development. The Pucanganak community’s assets included awareness of environmental conservation, local government support, and willingness to participate in sustainable practices. Practical Applications: The implementation of biopore socialization and installation activities in Dusun Krajan, Pucanganak Village, demonstrated that the community possesses valuable assets and potential in environmental preservation. Conclusion: Despite initial challenges due to lack of technical knowledge, the approach used successfully maximized local strengths through awareness building, knowledge transfer, and government support. The program not only improved technical understanding of biopore construction but also fostered collaboration between residents and authorities, establishing a replicable model for sustainable environmental conservation.
