Abstract

Temu hitam (Curcuma aeruginosa) termasuk family Zingiberaceae merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman yang banyak digunakan sebagai obat tradisional. Bagian yang sering digunakan adalah rimpangnya. Sebagai obat tradisional, temu hitam diduga memiliki aktivitas imunostimulan. Untuk melihat aktifitas tersebut, maka dilakukan pengujian terhadap pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol rimpang temu hitam (Curcuma aeuginosa Roxb.) terhadap kemampuan fagositosis dengan metoda carbon clearance dan jumlah sel leukosit pada mencit putih betina menggunakan metode hapusan darah. Dari penelitian tersebut diperoleh data yang memperlihatkan indeks fagositosis rata rata pada kelompok dosis 30mg/kgBB, dosis 100 mg/kgBB, dan dosis 300 mg/kgBB besar dari satu (IF > 1) . Dalam perhitungan jumlah sel leukosit adanya perbedaan yang bermakna (F Hitung > 0,05) terhadap jumlah sel monosit. Maka dapat disimpulkan pemberian ekstrak etanol rimpang temu hitam (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan fagositosis dan jumlah sel darah putih yaitu monosit yang berperan dalam sistem imun non spesifik dan dapat memberikan efek imunostimulan.
