Abstract

Temperature and humidity are critical factors in oyster mushroom cultivation, and as such, it is imperative to manage and regulate these variables with the aid of modern technology. The primary goal of this community service initiative is to enhance the productivity and quality of oyster mushrooms, while also fostering the sustainability of cultivation efforts. This method encompasses training sessions on proper temperature and humidity control techniques, the implementation of monitoring equipment, and the establishment of an optimal cultivation environment. The outcomes of these efforts have revealed a notable enhancement in both the production and quality of oyster mushrooms. Additionally, farmers have expressed an increase in technical knowledge and a deeper understanding of the advantages associated with appropriate environmental control. This technology holds the potential to elevate farmers' income and positively influence the cultivation environment. In summary, the implementation of temperature and humidity control technology yields tangible benefits, ultimately promoting the sustainability of oyster mushroom cultivation and contributing to the enhancement of farmers' expertise.

Abstract

The service program for community groups in the Limo area, Limo Subdistrict, Depok City, focused on training plastic waste recycling management in environmental care communities that were not yet productive or had no regular income. The problems faced include a waste segregation system that had not been maximized, less than optimal plastic waste management, lack of plastic waste processing technology, and low creation of recycled plastic waste-based products. The purpose of this program was to provide training in making products based on recycled plastic waste as an effort to reduce plastic waste and as an alternative to entrepreneurship. The program implementation was carried out through Focus Group Discussions with partners, knowledge sharing, training on plastic waste processing technology, and the practice of making recycled products. The technology introduced includes a plastic shredder and a simple printing press. The results of the program showed active participation of participants, increased knowledge of plastic waste processing with an achievement rate of 90%, and recycled product manufacturing skills reaching 80%, indicating the success of the program in increasing community awareness, skills, and entrepreneurship in plastic waste management.

Abstract

Indonesia has the world’s second-highest number of tuberculosis cases. More than 300,000 cases of tuberculosis in Indonesia have not been diagnosed or recorded, which are known as the missing cases. Undiagnosed tuberculosis patients will cause the spread of tuberculosis bacteria to other people. Active case-finding of tuberculosis needs to be carried out to find more cases of tuberculosis in the community. Purwakarta is one of the districts with the highest incidence of tuberculosis in West Java province. Maranatha Christian University, in collaboration with the Purwakarta District Health Office, carried out active case-finding activities in the Plered subdistrict, which is the subdistrict with the highest tuberculosis cases in the Purwakarta district. Active case-finding activities were carried out at the ‘balai desa’ (village hall). The flow of active case-finding activities consists of registration, anamnesis, physical examination, sputum sampling, and chest x-ray examination using a mobile x-ray. Active case-finding activities in the Plered subistrict were attended by 364 patients. Chest x-ray examination was carried out on 231 patients, and 21 of them were diagnosed with tuberculosis. Active case-finding tuberculosis using a combination of; anamnesis, physical examination, sputum examination, and x-rays, can be applied to facilitate public access to health services and increase the rate of finding tuberculosis cases.
