Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s leadership in improving the effectiveness of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership consists of four main stages: planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. The principal adopted a transformational leadership style by providing individualized consideration, motivation, intellectual stimulation, and idealized influence. These strategies were manifested through coordination meetings, teacher training, the use of online learning platforms such as WhatsApp Group, Google Classroom, and Zoom Meeting, as well as regular evaluation of learning activities. Challenges included limited internet access, low digital literacy among some teachers, and fluctuating student motivation. This study emphasizes that the success of online learning during the pandemic is not only determined by the principal’s managerial skills but also by adaptive capacity and transformational leadership.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of school principal leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic at Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) Darul Ikhwan. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the school principal of MAS Darul Ikhwan carried out leadership functions through planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation. The leadership style applied tended to be transformational, manifested in individualized consideration, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and idealized influence through discipline and role modeling. Furthermore, cultural, environmental, and regulatory factors influenced leadership effectiveness. The school’s religious culture, parental trust and support, as well as government and pesantren regulations shaped an adaptive and participatory leadership pattern. This study highlights that school leadership during the pandemic was not merely bureaucratic but also transformative. The implication suggests the need to strengthen principals’ capacities in crisis-based leadership, digital literacy, and change management to maintain educational quality in times of emergency.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the principal’s management in enhancing students’ learning motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMA Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that the shift from face-to-face instruction to online and limited offline learning created various challenges that affected students’ learning motivation. To address these challenges, the principal implemented strategic efforts by fostering collaboration among teachers, parents, and the school. This collaboration was crucial in ensuring the continuity of the learning process and achieving educational goals during the pandemic. This study highlights that effective principal management, particularly in building collaborative efforts, plays a vital role in maintaining students’ learning motivation in times of crisis. It further indicates that learning success during the pandemic was not only determined by students’ internal factors but also by the synergy between schools and families.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of internalizing student discipline values through kiai leadership at Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Jannah Al-Akramiyah Al-Aziziyah, Tabir District, Merangin Regency. A qualitative method was employed with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the internalization of discipline takes place through the kiai’s role as a role model, direct supervision, guidance from teachers (ustaz and ustazah), and the implementation of school regulations supported by an educational reward and punishment system. Student discipline is influenced by internal factors, such as self-awareness, learning goals, and learning interest, as well as external factors, including family, school, and community environments. The study also reveals a gap between formal regulations and actual disciplinary practices, as some students continue to commit violations covertly. The study concludes that the success of discipline building in pesantren depends not only on the kiai’s charisma but also on collective synergy among teachers, administrators, and the pesantren environment. Practically, strengthening collaborative supervision and applying a more humanistic approach are crucial to embed discipline as a pesantren culture.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of curriculum support facility management in improving the quality of learning for students at Al-Kinanah Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the availability of learning facilities in the pesantren is still limited. This condition is reflected in the insufficient number of classrooms, the absence of a library building, and the lack of a laboratory. These limitations affect the conduciveness of the learning process. Nevertheless, the pesantren continues to strive to optimize the use of the available facilities. The main obstacles in managing the facilities include limitations in human resources, infrastructure, and budgetary support. These findings underscore the importance of more effective management of curriculum support facilities as one of the key factors in improving the quality of learning in pesantren environments.
