Abstract

Descriptions and taxonomic remarks are provided for ten species of freshwater oligochaetes (Annelida, Clitellata) from Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan, Indonesia. They include six naidines (Slavina appendiculata, Dero pectinata, Aulophorus hymanae, Branchiodrilus semperi, Pristina amphibiotica and P. osborni) and two tubificines (Limnodrilus claparedianus and L. grandisetosus) new to Indonesia. Enlarged ventral chaetae were described as an infraspecific variation in Pristina biserrata.

Abstract

From 1962 to 1967 Hoogerwerf described 16 new taxa of birds fromJava and its satellite islands. His description of each new taxon was based on 3 to 34 specimens. Despite the regulations of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN), which clearly stipulated to designate the type specimens, Hoogerwerf had designated two and in one case three “type†specimens for each of the 14 out of his 16 new taxa, instead. In order to preserve stability of nomenclature, we reevaluate and designate the paratypes, lectotypes, paralectotypes of these Hoogerwerf’s new taxa. These type specimens are deposited in the collections of MZB.

Abstract

A survey of the freshwater fishes of The Tesso Nillo area was conductedin June 2003 in conjunction of establishing this area as conservation area. In this brown water-forest streams of the upper part of Kampar catchment area, fifty fish species were found. This comprised of 31 genera, 16 familia and 4 orders. The dominant familia are Cyprinidae (18 species), Bagridae (5 species), Belontiidae (4 species) and Siluridae (4 species). Cryptic species: Breinsteinea hypselurus and Chaca bankanensis were found in the area.

Abstract

The Cirrospilini LaSalle, 2000, belongs to the Eulophinae, along withEulophini and Elasmini. This tribe consists of about 17 genera and almost 300 species, which are ectoparasitoids, mainly on Diptera, Lepidoptera and Coleoptera in semi-concealed situations. Some species may act as obligate or facultative hyperparasitoids and a few species are gall-formers. Historically, the genera included in the Cirrospilini have been placed in the Eulophinae and the Elachertinae sensu Ashmead, 1904. However, the relationships and the placement of genera into subfamilies or tribes have always been problematical. Based on the current evidence, it appears that the Cirrospilini is a monophyletic taxon and the sister-group of the Eulophini plus Elasmini. This paper summarizes the current taxonomic status and systematic background of the Cirrospilini.
