Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the designed model fits the empirical model and whether attitudes toward social media use, subjective norms, self-efficacy, and intentions to use social media are factors in the social media use behavior in Madrasah Tsanawiyah students. The population in this study was all Madrasah Tsanawiyah students in Central Java. The sampling technique in this study was systematic sampling. It was conducted by taking each subject in the population until the number of the desired sample was met. The technique of analysis employed the structural equation model. Based on the analysis results, the requirements criteria were Chi-Square 165.472 (DF= 81, p=0.000), CMIN/DF=2.043, GFI= 0.947, AGFI= 0.922, TLI= 0.940, and RMSEA= 0.051. Then, the proposed model could be said to be fit or fulfilled. Thus, it can be stated that the proposed model design was not significantly different from the empirical data. Under the study results, the determination coefficient (R²) of the social media use intention (R²) was 0.03, meaning that only 3% could be explained or predicted through the variables of attitude toward using social media, subjective norms, and self-efficacy. In addition, the coefficient of determination (R²) of social media use behavior was 0.29, indicating that 29% could be explained or predicted through the variables of social media use attitudes, subjective norms, self-efficacy, and intentions.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers are experiencing difficulties in carrying out the learning process since they can only convey materials in the realm of cognition, causing the affective and psychomotor domains not to be achieved. In fact, the role of teachers in the learning process is needed to deliver the younger generation in shaping the nation's character. In the context of developing national character, the most important agenda concerns the collective reform of all components of the nation to make changes after undergoing each learning process. For this reason, this research focuses on Islamic education materials in shaping insan kamil through character education using effective and efficient learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This learning was set with active learning to produce insan kamil who can answer the ummah's problems. The learning implementation began with planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, while the informants were determined by purposive sampling. The data collection techniques employed were in-depth interviews, participant observation, documentation, and focus group discussions. Checking the data validity was then carried out by extending the researcher's presence in the field, deepening observations, triangulation, peer discussion, checking members, transferability, dependence, and confirmability. This study’s results indicate that Islamic education can shape insan kamil through effective and efficient learning with active learning strategies, with blended learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Terrorism is a problem that has not been fully resolved in Indonesia. This group still exists and continues to conduct cadres in several areas of this country. This study, therefore, aims to reveal the strategy carried out by the Lingkar Perdamaian Foundation (YLP) in Lamongan in providing guidance to former terrorists and breaking the chain of radical ideology in Indonesia. Qualitative data were obtained from interviews and direct observations with former terrorist actors through qualitative methods. This study succeeded in finding that in the process, YLP convincingly applied the values of multicultural Islamic education oriented to changing the ideology and personality of former terrorists. On the other hand, in the process, education for ex-terrorists was conducted based on an extraordinary paradigm, namely divinity (rabbaniyah), humanity (insaniyah), and nationality (wathaniyah). Islamic education was also conducted using a rational, psychosocial, and life skills approach. This research also contributes to building an Islamic education model designed explicitly for ex-terrorists with three orientations at once: ideological change, self-change, and encouraging them to socialize again with the broader community.
