Abstract

Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) was bacterium commonly found in acne. P. acne was microaerophilic bacterium which can be as a normal fl ora as inhabitants of skin but also is a facultative pathogen. Soursop was a plant that can be used for acne, wounds ulcers, convulsions, and lice cure. This study was aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of soursop leaves against P. acnes bacteria using chloroform solvent. Antibacterial activity test was performed by well diffusion method. The inhibition activity of soursop leaves chloroform extracts was indicated by the appearance of clear zone. The results show that the extract of chloroform at a concentration of 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 ppm is able to inhibit the growth of P. acnes bacteria with the inhibition zone of 8.86, 12.12, 12.42, and 15.48 mm respectively. The greater the inhibition zone, the higher the concentrations of n-hexane extract of the soursop leaves.

Abstract

Formerly, website technology only used HTML to display static content (web 1.0), then in the modern era, modern website was developed (web 2.0). The use of HTML language was combined with dynamic web programming languages such as PHP, ASP.Net, and JSP. However, in order to make the website page become more interactive and responsive, the use of dynamic web programming languages was not enough, therefore a technology that called as AJAX was created. This application is able to make website page becomes more responsive and interactive. The use of AJAX technology in modern website applications can also make the website page load faster and save the bandwidth usage of the internet network connection due to the asynchronous data transfer process between the client and the server. This study was aimed to fi nd out the mechanism of data transfer process and the comparison 99 of access speed level between client computer and the server (web and database server), especially on the website page using AJAX technology. This study used case study method and literature review analysis. Through this research, the AJAX engine model contained in JavaScript programming can be analyzed to produce better level of connectivity between client computers and the server.

Abstract

This study was aimed to synthesize the polymer as a carrier, i.e. copolymer (Eugenol-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, EGDMA) or co-EEGDMA. The synthesis involving eugenol and EGDMA as a crosslinking agent was performed by polymerization using a boron trifl uoro diethyl ether catalyst. The synthesized polymer was then characterized using FTIR, SEM and H-NMR. Co-EEGDMA and two other compounds, namely polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and dibenzyl ether (DBE) as the components in the membrane making process were tested to be used for phenol transport. The components then were tested using Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) method. The characterization results of co-EEGDMA show that eugenol polymerization using EGDMA crosslinking agent has been successfully synthesized. The results also show that the membrane containing the new compounds can be used for phenol transport in multiple times.

Abstract

An automatic temperature control tire patch are designed to make it easier to patch the tires, shorten the time and improve the quality of the tires. Tire fatch with automatic temperature controller are equipped with thermocouple and thermocontrol displays. Thermocouple is used as a temperature sensor and thermocontrol display as a medium that can be used to adjust and determine the tire temperature. This experimental study aims to determine the performance of tire patch tool in producing good quality patches with a relatively short time. Equipment and instruments used in this research are display thermocontrol, thermocouple, voltmeter, and amperemeter. The data obtained are then analyzed descriptively. The best patch results in this study were found at 70oC in the "perfect" category. The T1 temperature is 134oC, T2 is 70oC and T3 is 65,9oC, while the heat transfer rate at Qplate is 36,500 watts and Qban is 0,0691875 watts with the time of filling for 1 minute 47 seconds (107 seconds).

Abstract

The reciprocating compressor PK 60-150 is the most common type of compressor used in industries. The effect of each failure mode on the reciprocating compressorwas analyzed using FMEA, so that the necessary action can be determined. Both increasing the operating time and preventing the damage of compressor aremajor concerns. This study was aimed to determine the problems that cause risk of safety, failure of compressor function, and shortening of compressor life time,so that maintenance and repair cost can be reduced. The result shows that the breaking of high wires and fuses, over heat and wear of the piston are the mostaffecting factors of compressor failure with RPN value of 64

Abstract

The objective of this study were determining the antibacterial activity of Curcuma xanthorrhiza extract with various concentrations of  0,5 ppm, 5 ppm, 50 ppm, 250 ppm, and 500 ppm, and determining the effective concentrations of Curcuma extract antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 dan Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The results showed that the antibacterial activity of Curcuma xanthorrhiza extract with various concentrations of 0,5 ppm, 5 ppm, 50 ppm, 250 ppm, and 500 ppm showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The concentrations of Curcuma xanthorrhiza extract of 500 ppm effective against Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 which the diameter of inhibition by 10,37 mm and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923  by 8,44 mm.

Abstract

Synthesis of 2-(3'-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone via Claisen-Schmidt reaction between 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde and cyclohexanone used MAOS method has been done. The aim of this research was determined the yield of the 2-(3'-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone and identified the side product. 2-(3'-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone compound was sythesized through Claisen-Schmidt reaction between 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde and cyclohexanone. Synthesis of 2-(3'-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone used NaOH as catalyst by MAOS method for 500 seconds. The synthesis product were identified using TLC, TLC scanner, FTIR, and GCMS. Result of this research show that the yield of 2-(3'-hydroxybenzylidene)-cyclohexanone is 7.37%. The side product are 2-cyclohexylidenecyclohexanone and 2-(3'-hydroxy-benzylidene)-6-cyclohexylidenecyclohexanone.
