<![CDATA[The writer discusses love desire in poem of John Clare entitled “First Love”. The purpose of this study is to understand the poem through analyzing intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the poem. The methods used were library research and structural approach. By using the method of library research, the writer collects some information and document that support the process of analysis. The structural approach used by the writer to discover and analyze intrinsic element inside the poem. The extrinsic element analysis discusses about love desire in this poem by using theory of love by Erich Fromm. The result of the study shows how deep the poet’s love desire and consistency of loving her are, although the girl does not love him.]]>

<![CDATA[Perusahaan rokok biasanya menggunakan berbagai macam strategi untuk mempromosikan produknya. Pembuatan slogan yang menarik untuk iklan dapat membangun posisi produk dan ketertarikan pembeli. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana Gudang Garam menampilkan gambaran dari produknya melalui slogan iklan dengan menggunakan presuposisi. Selain itu, hal ini dilakukan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana Gudang Garam menampilkan pembeli yang ditargetkan melalui slogan iklan dengan menggunakan referensi. Penulis menggunakan metode dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan 29 (dua puluh sembilan) slogan iklan Gudang Garam sebagai total populasi. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling untuk memilih slogan yang berisi presuposisi dan referensi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif qualitatif dan metode agih untuk menganilisis data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gambaran keberadaan produk lebih menonjol. Terlebih lagi, pronoun digunakan secara langsung sebagai ekspresi penunjukan untuk menunjuk pembeli yang mereka targetkan. Berbagai macam slogan dalam produk yang sama kemungkinan memiliki bermacam-macam strategi untuk menunjukkan gambaran produk dan pembeli yang ditargetkan.]]>

<![CDATA[This book review is arranged with the purpose to show the strengths and weaknesses of a novel entitled Skipping Christmas, authored by an American author, John Grisham. This novel tells a story of the Kranks couple who wanted to skip Christmas to go on a cruise instead. This novel is the only comedy novel that is written by John Grisham who is a well-known thriller author. The strengths of the novels are the moral value of the novel, the cover design, and the greatness of the author’s name. This novel tells what Christmas is about. The greatness of the author’s name and the cover design are very powerful to attract people to buy and read the novel. The weaknesses of the novels are the dictions and the naratology of the novel that is too detailed. The author tends to use difficult words to tell the story. There are too many details in the novel to bore the readers. The main aim of this book review is to give a picture about the novel and a reference for the readers before reading the whole novel. ]]>

<![CDATA[Post colonialism is the result of colonialism. Generally, in post colonialism the values of colonialism still exist but only several people realize about this. This thesis discusses about the impacts of post colonialism that are experienced by the main character (Little Bee) in a novel “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave. The purposes of this thesis are to understand the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) toward the main character and to understand the aspects of post colonialism that are used by the main character to overcome PTSD. In the analysis of PTSD, it requires the knowledge of the reasons someone experiences PTSD. To write this thesis, the writer uses library method and psychological approach. The theories that are used in this analysis are post colonialism and PTSD. The result of this thesis shows that the main character, Little Bee uses several aspects of post colonialism, such as hybridity, mimicry, and stereotype. The usage of these aspects are triggered or are influenced by the situation.]]>

<![CDATA[Indonesia sebagai negara yang memiliki keanekaragaman budaya mampu mempertahankan berbagai dialek yang tersebar diseluruh penjuru negara. Walaupun masyarakat Indonesia memiliki Bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa resmi mereka, mereka masih menggunakan berbagai dialek yang juga merupakan bahasa ibu mereka untuk berkomunikasi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Masyarakat suku Jawa dan suku Batak adalah dua suku dengan karakteristik berbeda yang tercermin dalam penggunaan bahasa mereka. Ada penilaian dari masyarakat Indonesia secara umum kepada kedua suku tersebut. Masyarakat biasanya menilai masyarakat suku Jawa sebagai masyarakat yang berbicara secara sopan dan halus, sedangkan masyarakat suku Batak sebagai masyarakat yang berbicara secara kasar dan blak-blakan. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis mencoba untuk mengetahui alasan dibalik penilaian masyarakat Indonesia secara umum tersebut dan menguraikannya dengan Teori Politeness dari Brown dan Levinson.]]>

<![CDATA[Tujuan penulis project ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan menjelaskan tipe dan faktor Campur Kode dan Alih Kode yang terjadi dalam novel Ranah 3 Warna karya Ahmad Fuadi. Ini adalah penelitian Deskriptif Kualitatif yang menganalisis data berupa tuturan karakter dalam novel Ranah 3 Warna sebagai sumber data yang diambil menggunakan teknik Sampling Purposive untuk memilih tuturan yang mengandung Campur Kode atau Alih Kode. Penulis kemudian menggunakan Metode Padan untuk menganalisa tuturan sehingga menemukan adanya dua tipe Campur Kode, yakni Campur Kode Luar dan Campur Kode Dalam dalam enam bahasa. Selain itu, ditemukan pula adanya dua tipe Alih Kode, yakni Alih Kode Internal dan Alih Kode Eksternal dalam empat bahasa. Faktor yang mendorong penutur untuk melakukan Alih Kode atau Campur Kode adalah tujuan penutur, latar belakang penutur, latar belakang lawan bicara dan kutipan opini orang lain.]]>

Ia yang merupakan seorang keturunan Yahudi terpaksa harus menjadi korban peristiwa Holocaust yang didalangi oleh Hitler. Pada book review ini, penulis membahas tema, tokoh dan penokohan, kelebihan serta kelemahan dari buku ini. Melalui book review ini, diharapkan akan mengundang semakin banyak pembaca yang tertarik untuk membaca buku yang berjudul Night ini.
