Abstract

The increasing life expectancy in Semarang results in an increasing proportion of elderly population. The interesting matter to discuss regarding the increase of elderly population number is the elderly population depends on the productive-age population. In fact, many elderly population are able to keep working, 63.39 percent of elderly population in Semarang still work (BPS, 2017). The aim of this study is to analyze the socio-economic factors affecting the elderly population’s decision to work in Semarang. The independent variables in this study are education, family economic support, old age allowance, number of dependents, marital status,and health conditions. The study object is the elderly population who work and not work in Semarang with 100 samples. The types of data are primary and secondary data. The analysis method that used in this research is “Binary Logistic Regression”. The result shows that education, old age allowance, marital status, and health conditions have the negative and significant impact on the decision making of elderly either to work or not. In the other hand both family economic support, and the number of dependents are not significantly impact to decision making of elderly to work. The most dominant variable is education.

Abstract

Indonesia has thousands of islands that is separated by ocean and strait that make one island with another island have different characteristics both in terms of social, economic and cultura. Each region has a different natural potential and quality of resources, causing regional disparity. This study aims to determine the impact of fiscal decentralization, direct expenditure, indirect expenditure, inflation, and labor on regional disparity in 35 districts/cities in Central Java Province from 2011 to 2017. This study uses secondary data obtained from the Agency Central Statistics of Central Java Province, Director General of Fiscal Balance and World Bank. This research uses panel data method which consists of 35 regencies / cities in Central Java Province for 7 years. From the analysis it is known that the variable degree of fiscal decentralization, direct expenditure, indirect expenditure, inflation, and labor affect the inequality between regions in 35 districts / cities in Central Java Province. With 5% degree of relience. Fiscal decentralization, direct expenditure and labor have a positive influence on regional disparity in 35 districts / cities in Central Java Province, while indirect spending and inflation have a negative effect on regional disparity in 35 districts / cities in Central Java Province.

Abstract

Semarang City has the potential to become a tourist destination because it has authentic culture and a multicultural society. But its development is still lagging behind other regions. According to Mayang (2017), this is due to less optimal management of the Semarang City tourism sector. One of the tourist attraction that deserves to be developed is culinary tourism Waroeng Semawis Semarang City culinary tour. This study aims to determine the spesialization characteristics of tourist in culinary tourism Waroeng Semawis Semarang based on age, gender and education. Analysis methods in this research are descriptive analysis, factor analysis, crosstab anaylsis and variant analysis. The result of this research indicates that variabels are grouped into four factors, namely motivation factor, psychology factor, demographic factor and education factor. The results of crosstab anaylisis and varians analysis show that respondents based on age, gender and education groups have different motivational and psychological levels.

Abstract

In a few decades, research topic on corporate governance attracts much attention from scholars in Indonesia. Different from most of previous studies, I employ attendance of board of director’s meetings, frequency of board of commisioner’s meetings, audit committee size, audit reputation, ownership concentration and manajerial concentration as the determinants in this research. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of attendance of board of director’s meetings, attendance of board of commisioner’s meetings, audit committee size, audit reputation, ownership concentration and manajerial concentration on firm performance. Sample of this research covers 30 firms listed on Index LQ-45 in Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2014 until 2018. The analysis method used is multiple regression with 150 observations data panel. Firm performance is measured with Tobin’s Q and controlling for firm size and leverage. The results show that attendance of board of director’s meetings, attendance of board of commisioner’s meetings, audit committee size, and manajerial concentration has negative and not significant effect on firm performance. However, the result show that audit reputation and ownership concentration has positive and significant effect on firm performance.

Abstract

One of the policies taken by the Indonesian government to improve the quality of human resources is through access to education for the whole community through the allocation of education subsidies. The target of the education subsidy program is to increase the Gross Enrollment Rate (GER). This study focuses on analizing the influens of the School Operational Assistance program, education budget, Gross Reguional Domestic Product Percapita and Gross Enrolment Rate of the previous year (GER(-1)) at the Elementary School, Junior High School dan Senior high School. In Regency/City of Central Java Province in 2015-2017. The research is quantitative analysis using Panel Fixed Effect Model (FEM) data estimation. Research results show that at the Elementary School level education budget and GER (-1) have a positive and significant effect on GER. At the Junior High School level, Gross Reguional Domestic Product Percapita and GER (-1) has positive significant impact to GER.At Senior High School level, School Operational Assistance program, education budget and Gross Regional Domestic Product percapita has positive significant impact to GER.
