Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this research are to investigate: 1) the entrepreneurial preparedness among the  students of Barabai Vocational High School, and 2) the effect of students’ entrepreneurial knowledge, industrial practicum experience, and achievement motivation toward their entrepreneurial preparedness for both individually and mutually. The descriptive analysis results showed that the entrepreneurial preparedness of twelfth grade students of Barabai Vocational High School was high (57.7%). The hypothesis testing results showed that there was a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial knowledge, industrial practicum experience, achievement motivation toward students’ preparedness (F= 95.418, p= 0.000). The determination coefficient of R2 = 0.599 indicated that entrepreneurial knowledge, industrial practicum experience and achievement motivation were able to explain the variable of students’ preparedness (59.9%). Each independent variable showed a positive and significant effect on the dependent variable, i.e. entrepreneurial knowledge (t = 5.095, p = 0.000), industrial practicum experience (t = 6.123 p = 0.000), and achievement motivation (5.738 = p = 0.000).Keywords: entrepreneurial knowledge, industrial practicum experience, achievement motivation, and entrepreneurial preparedness

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to improve the learning quality of Kinematics and Dynamic of  Mechanical System course through a structural worksheet. The improvement in this context referes to students’activities and their learning motivation. This reserach was conducted by using action reserach method on Kinematics and Dynamic of  Mechanical System course in odd semester. The reserach object was the third semester students of Information Technology Department. Data collection techniques were observation, decumentation, and interview. Data analysis technique was using descriptive analysis which was presented in the form of quantitaive.The result of the reserach showed that 1) the implementation of structural worksheet was able to improve the students’learning activities on Kinematics and Dynamic of  Mechanical System course (20%), 2) the implementation of structural worksheet was able to improve the students’learning motivation (40%).Keywords : learning activities, learning achievement and structural worksheet

Abstract

ABSTRACTAugmanted Reality for android handphone has been a trend among collage students of computer department who join New Media course. To develop this application, the knowladge about visual presentation theory and case study of Augmanted Reality on android phoneneed to be conducted. Learning media through virtual class can facilitate the students’ needs in learning and developing Augmanted Reality. The method of this study in developing virtual class for Augmented Reality learning were: a) having preparation to arrange learning unit, b) analyzing and developing the content of learning materials, c) designing storyboard or scenario of the virtual class, d) making website of virtual class, e) implementing the website as facility of online learning for Augmanted Reality. The available facilities in virtual class were to check learning units, to choose and download the material in the forms of e-book and presentation slides, to open the relevant website link for material enrichment as well as students’ practice with pre-test and post-test for measuring students’ understanding. By implementing virtual class for Augmanted Reality learning based Android, it is expected to provide alternative learning strategies for students that are interesting and easy to understand. The students are expected to be able to utilize this facility optimally in order to achieve the purposes of learning process and graduates’ competence. Keywords: VirtualClass, Augmented Reality (AR)

Abstract

ABSTRACTPre-experimental reserach had been conducted on the result of understanding concept for Basic Electronics course after the implementation of tic tac toe game on linear passive component. The sample of the study was the tenth grade students of MA Raudlatutta’allum Cidahu, Tamanjaya, Tamansari, Tasikmalaya. The purpose of the reserah is to reveal the improvement of understanding concept for Basic Electronics course on linear passive component after the implementation of tic tac toe game. The result of the study  showed that the implmentation of this game could improve the students’understanding concept toward the material with significant and high gain.    Keywords : understanding concept, basic electronics, tic tac toe game

Abstract

ABSTRACKOne of the strengths of Vocational High School compared to the general school is the students trainedto be entrepreneur. To support it, the learning model that needs to be developed is the character education forentrepreneurship. The purpose of this research is to gain the appropriate learning model to support charactereducation for entrepreneurship.This study was conducted by using grounded theory approach at Depok 2 VocationalHigh School, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The reserach subject was chosen by using snowball sampling technique throughthe setting of place, respondent and activitiy. Data analysis technique was using Miles Hubberman model.The result of the reserach showed that learning models to enhance character education for entrepreneurship atDepok 2 Vocational High School was using (a) role modelling,(b) Integrating learning inside and outside theclassroom, (c) school culture assimilization, (d) strengtening. This school needed to develop the learning modelfor entrepreneurship education which was synergic between character education and entrepreneurship learning.The integration was implmented by accomodating intervention: cultur:structure and figure. The implementationcovered: (1) classroom learning, (2) co curricul extracurricular, (3) learning through school culture, and (4)learning activities at home and in the community.Keywords: learning model, entrepreneurial character, vocational high schoolABSTRAK

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Classroom Action Research of the application of computer-based interactive modules with Simulation Software of FluidSIM-P 3 Pneumatic System can be a learning medium for the students to gain the real experience and the concrete work on the hydraulic system. The purpose of this study is to improve the learning quality based on activity description, motivation, response, and learning outcomes. The of data collection techniques were using questionnaire, observation sheets and achievement test. Based on the observation result, the activity of lecturers and students during the learning process Pneumatics and Hydraulics courses,which was using interactive computer-based modules, had improved from the first cycle into the second cycle with the average value of each cycle. The first cycle was observed activity of the lecturers and the students, i.e. 66.63%, and the second cycle was 86.88%. To increase the students’ learning completion from cycle I to cycle II with the percentage oflearning completion in the first cycle was73%, and the second cycle was 100%. Meanwhile the results of the student response tocomputer-based interactive modules of pneumatic and hydraulic was 91.8%.Keywords: modules, interactive, computer, pneumatic, hydraulic

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis reserach aims at evaluating and completing the curriculum of Electrical Engineering EducationDepartment, Faculty of Engineerinng, Yogyakarta State University to meet the need of stakeholders as well asthe development of science and technology. The method in investigating and developing the currriculum wasreferred to Indonesian National Qualification Framework for Electrical Engineering and Electrical EngineeringEducation. This study is a research evaluation on the implementation of curriculum with CIPP model. Thecurriculum development was using content analysis and discussion. The research result showed that, in general,the implementation of Curriculum 2009 for Electrical Engineering Education Department could be categorized as“appropriate” (Good) according to the respondents of lecturers or alumnae and “quite appropriate” accordingto the students. There were few weaknesses either the curriculum content or its implementation especially on theaspects of Input, Process, and Product. Based on the evaluation result on the curriculum implementation, IndonesianNational Qualification Framework as well as vision, mission and the purpose of Electrical Engineering EducationDepartment, it was found that both the draft for curriculum framework and the competence that should be masteredby the graduates of Electrical Engineering Education (Bachelor level) and Electrical Engineering (Diploma level)need to be reviewed and validated. Those actions should be conducted in order to produce a curriculum designwhich had relevance as well as adequate quality and usefulness for students, society, and corporate world.Keywords: curriculum,Indonesian National Qualification Framework (INQF)

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this article are to reveal (1) the policy direction for the allocation and utilization of the education funding, and (2) the distribution model of the education budget from the goverenment to the schools in this local autonomy era. This research is based on literature study. The analysis results showed that (1) the policy direction for the allocation and utilization of education funding still need to be improved in case of its quantity to fulfill the mandate of Law No.20 Year 2003, i.e. 20% from State Budget (APBN) and Local Budget (APBD) excluding salaries and specific-administrative school, (2) Generally, the distribution model of education funding from the central government in the forms of block grant, deconcentration (including BOS/BKM) and from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Provincial Budgets and Local Budget were still feasible for the distribution of education funds to schools with several improvements, especially for the empowerment of the Provincial Education Department and the Education Department of City/ district to participate as an advisor and controller of the implementation of school programs. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this study are (1) to investigate the implementation of the culinary business management course, (2) to investigate the students’ readiness in preparing culinary business management course, (3) to find out the students’ readiness in the implementation of the culinary business management course, and (4) to find out the obstacles in the learning process of this course. This study was employing descriptive approach in 16 March – 31 October 2012 at Culinary Education Study Program of Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University. The population was the students of Culinary Education Study Program who joined culinary business management course among the second semester students in the academic year of 2011/ 2012. The sampling technique was using random sampling with the total respondents of 72 students. The data were collected by using interview, questionnaire, and observation while the data were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The findings revealed that firstly, the implementation of the learning of culinary business management course consisted of the opening preparation of the new business, the managing process, and the assessment that covered active participation, independent task, group work, practice, and final examination with 53% of the students achieved A, 28% of them achieved A- , 17% of them achieved B+, and 4% of them achieved B. Secondly, students’ readiness in implementing the culinary business management course can be categorized as “very high” category with 12.5% and the category of “high” with 87.5%. Thirdly, students’ readiness in the culinary business management course was in the category of “very high” with 16.67% and the category of “high” with 83.33%. Lastly, the obstacles in implementing the learning process of culinary business management were the communication and cooperation among the team, students’ loyalty and discipline, insufficient time of the course, and inadequate facilities and tools.Keywords : students’ readiness, culinary business management

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis reserach aims at revealing the influence of the use of diagnose chart toward the learning outcomes among the students of Automotive Engineering Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State University on vehicle diagnosis course, especially on electrical part. It covers : (1) the skills to determine problem indication, (2) the identification skills for problem probability, (3) the skills to examine analysis result, (3) the skills in drawing conclusions. This reserach can be catagorized as Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The population was the automotive engineering students who are participated in vehicle diagnosis course on odd semester at academic year of 2012/2013. The research sample was from D1 class as the control group and D2 class as the experimental group. Data gathering techniques was by measuring the learning result from posttest. The obtained data were analyzed from by using independent sample T-Test after the prerequirement test. The research results showed that (1) the use of diagnose chart on vehicle electrical system increased the lerning outcomes (24.31%), and (2) the use of diagnosis chart  on vehicle electrical system increased the students’diagnosis skills, it can be seen from : (a) the improvement of students’ skills to determine problem indication properly with explicit disclosure, (b) the improvement of students’ identification skills for problem probability based on proper logical and theoritical thinking, (c) the improvement of students skill to confirm the analysis results through correct investigation and measurement in a time efficient way, (d) the improvement of students skills in drawing conclusions from their analsysis result.Keywords: diagnose chart, vehicle diagnosis, vehicle electrical system
