Abstract

A high solid loading concentration of solid-liquid mixing was investigated to observe the effect of ratio C, Clearance, and T, diameter tank, with C/T 0.33; C/T 0.25 and C/T 0.17 on local volume of hydrodynamic and spatial distribution of polydisperse solid suspension using CFD, Computational Fluid Dynamics. The 45o pitch blade turbine, diameter 0.5T, with down pumping flow simulation was used to remove solid particle from bottom of the tank. The tank is also equipped with four baffle with the size of 0.1T.. A solid-liquid mixing consists of five fractions of glass beads with equal proportion (X1=X2=X3=X4=X5=0.2X) have 40% wt total solid concentration with liquid fraction is aqueous solution of NaCl. The effect of ratio C/T at impeller speed 612 rpm create a flow pattern in the tank different. Effect ratio C / T also indicated the distribution on solid had a good uniformity index when N≥ Njs, just suspended speed. The highest uniformity was obtained on C/T 0.17. it also made difference power consumption on each geometry with C/T 0.17, 0.25, and 0.33 respectively are 251.18, 238.13, and 270.65watt.

Abstract

Abstract¾ This paper presents a comparative study of finger vein recognition using various features with Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) as a classification method. For the purpose of this study, two main features are employed: Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) and Local Extensive Binary Pattern (LEBP). The other features that formed LEBP features: Local Multilayer Binary Pattern (LmBP) and Local Directional Binary Pattern (LdBP) are also employed. The type of images are also become the base of comparison. The SIFT features will be extracted from two types of images which are grayscale and binary images. The feature that have been extracted become the input for recognition stage. In recognition stage, LVQ classifier is used. LVQ will classify the images into two class which are the recognizable images and non recognizable images. The accuracy, false positive rate (FPR), and true positive rate (TPR) value are used to evaluate the performance of finger vein recognition. The performance result of finger vein recognition becomes the main study for comparison stage. From the experiments result, it can be found which feature is the best for finger vein reconition using LVQ. The performance of finger vein recognition that use SIFT feature from binary images give a slightly better result than uisng LmBP, LdBP, or LEBP feature. The accuracy value could achieve 97,45%, TPR at 0,9000 and FPR at 0,0129.

Abstract

Coastal area is an area of transition from terrestrial to marine ecosystems. This area is generally suffered by human, including gold mining activities. The existence of gold in Bombana discovered 2008, making the region as the center of public attention. The appearance of a gold mine in this region other than a blessing, but also brought new problems, especially in coastal areas. Therefore, a routine monitoring is needed to maintain environmental sustainability. Total Suspended Solid (TSS) is one of parameters that are often used for waters quality monitoring. In this research multi-temporal Landsat 8 (2013 to 2015) and in-situ measurement (November 20, 2015) were used to estimate the distribution of TSS. From the analysis, the concentration of TSS in 2014 decreased by 2.88% (36.97 g/m3) and increased by 6.76% (81.64 g/m3) in 2015. The results showed that all estimated-TSS overestimated the permissible water quality threshold (TSS ≤ 80 g/m3), it could be concluded that the gold mining activities in this area has decreased coastal ecological quality.

Abstract

Forecasting number of foreign tourist arrivals is important to improve the policies in the tourism sector. Better accuracy of forecast would help the government and investor to make operational, tactical, and strategic decisions. Data used in this research are monthly number of foreign tourist arrivals taken from Indonesia Central Bureau of Statistics. Multivariate forecasting at Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda, and Adi Sumarmo arrival gates was conducted using VARIMA ([12],1,0) (0,1,0)12 model. However, the longer step ahead to forecast, the larger variance error of corresponding models. As a result, the prediction interval become wider. This research computed the prediction interval using percentile error bootstrap based on VARIMA models that produced more precise forecast.

Abstract

Transport Modelling is capital for transportation planning. All-or-Nothing Traffic Assignment is used quite a lot. The model can not be considered valid without passing through validation and calibration process. A validation and calibration method, for the all-or-nothing traffic assignment, need to be developed. The research produced simple practical validation and calibration method. The calculated model traffic volumes are compared against the real traffic volumes. Simple validation method was developed by just setting a maximum allowable error, measured in precentage. Simple calibration method consists of correcting the model traffic volume by correcting the corresponding OD Matrix cell values. The calibration consists of 4 basic tasks : 1. identifying the traffic volume need to be calibrated, 2. identifying corresponding OD matrix cells corresponding to the traffic volume need to be calibrated, 3. distributing traffic volume error to the coresponding OD matrix cells, and 4. developing the calibrated OD matrix. Validation and Calibration are a pair of an iterative process.

Abstract

Geopolymer material is inorganic polymers that are generally synthesized from aluminosilicate materials, such as ferronickel slag. In this study, synthesis of geopolymer material using NaOH 7 molar and Na2SiO3 solutions with different Si/Al ratio to make paste. Paste is molded in a metal mold with dimensions of 5x5x5 cm3, then released from the mold and heated in an oven at 80 °C for 24 hours. The specimens that have been heated further left at room temperature for 28 days and then tested for compressive strengthand water absorption. The results indicate a trend compressive strength increases and water absorption decreases with increasing the Si/Al ratio. The optimum condition is obtained when Si/Al ratio is 3.5.
