Abstract

In the oil and gas industry, one of the key activities is the drilling process where the oil or natural gas are extracted. The process requires the supply of rolled products known as the Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG). As an important drilling component, OCTG has a high demand, which in some case it is not balanced with the optimal distribution route and cost that may affect the industry’s profit. In order to obtain the optimal distribution routes, this research compares transport routes generated by Sweep and Savings Algorithm to solve the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem, by taking an oil and gas company with inefficient OCTG distribution in Sumatera as the object of the study case. Additionally, the total transportation cost is calculated to further compare the results. The research concludes that Sweep Algorithm produces the most efficient routes with the lowest total transportation cost of Rp.18,890,875,000 per year, or 24% less than total cost derived from Savings Algorithm route.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the transportation performance in logistics of perishable foods in Greater Bandung and to identify the product loss of mushrooms and cabbages. It can be concluded that the main factors influencing the performance of transportation for perishable foods are: (1) Transportation operating hours adjusted to harvest time and market opening time, (2) Trip routes divided by 2 are using the shortest/ closest route and using a toll road, (3) Type of vehicle depend on the scale of production, the scale of the order and the distance of the trip, (4) the sale of products from farmers according to the nearest market location. Transportation cost contributes about 2-5% of product price. And, main factor of transportation cost is load factor. For cabbage, there is a 20% product loss from farmers to traders in central/ traditional markets.

Abstract

Geographically, Indonesia is surrounded by three continental plates which cause the emergence of earthquake pathways, a series of active mountains throughout Indonesia, and the inevitable tsunami. Considering the large potential and risks arising from such natural disasters, disaster mitigation is important to minimize the risk, one of which is through humanitarian logistics. Pangandaran Regency is the focus of this study given that in 2018, Pangandaran is the 16th most disaster-prone area out of 514 districts/cities in Indonesia and the 5th out of 27 districts/cities in West Java. It would be a high risk if mitigation, preparation, and logistics response in Pengandaran is not well planned. The focus of this research is to determine the strategic location of disaster emergency response warehouse placement with the Set Covering Problem algorithm and determine the optimal route to the location of refuge using the Nearest Neighborhood Heuristics, Local Search, and Simulated Annealing algorithms.

Abstract

The development of transport infrastructures of the Trans-Sumatran Highway is the policy of the Indonesian government to boost the economic growth. However, on the other hand, this idea needs to be proven since Indonesia has unique regional characteristics in terms of natural, social, and cultural conditions that bring impacts on congestion, low levels of travel security, and illegal costs or surcharges. This problem triggers inefficient logistics activities which can be seen from the high costs of shipping, transportation, and administrative. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the impact of the Trans-Sumatran Highway construction on logistics cost. The result of this study indicates that there are several benefits obtained from the toll road development. For the manufacturers, they may get a faster shipping process so that inventory turnover is getting higher. High inventory turnover can make inventory costs lower. While for the transporters, faster travel times and smooth toll road conditions can reduce the costs of vehicle maintenance and fuel. In addition, the toll road is able to eliminate the surcharges that previously often arise on trips between Lampung and Palembang. This paper argues that the Trans-Sumatra Highway can enhance the transportation and logistics activities.

Abstract

Procurement process holds crucial role in companies’ business process, particularly manufacturing company. PT Semen Indonesia as one of manufacturing Companies in Indonesia relies on procurement process in order to fulfill their business. However, existing e-procurement does not cover all the procurement process which creates process variants have made whole procurement process run into bottleneck. Deeper analysis required to dig insights on the process variants to derive the cause of problem. Hence, this research aims to explore Process Mining to gain more insights from the process using data log derived from the system. BPM lifecycle used as an approach to reach the objective of the research. However, not all phases in BPM lifecycle are imposed, yet Process Identification, Process Discovery and Process Analysis. The result showed that top three activities that take time most are Upload to E Procurement, Purchasing Configuration, and Technical Evaluation which require improvements.

Abstract

The distribution network is the most important strategic decision issues that need to be optimized for the efficient operation of whole supply chain. When a company make a business acquisition that brings more distribution facilities, the location allocation planning of the distribution network needs to be reconsidered. The distribution network includes the link from factories to packing plants and from factories or packing plants to demand points. The linear programming model was developed as a solution to solve optimization problem which involves multisource, multiproduct, and multipored in multi-echelon distribution network. We build numerical experiments from two scenarios to show the behaviour of this model. This model will determine the decision of distribution facilities location should be used and quantities should be allocated to achieve the optimal operating income considering the market share policy to satisfy the customer demands.

Abstract

One of the main keys to establishing a company’s facilities is to determine the best location with consideration of proximity to customers. After determining the location using the P-Center method, the company aims to maximize its profit by minimizing the distribution costs. It can be minimized by finding the shortest route. The best route determination method used in this study is the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem. The initial solution was obtained from data processing with the Nearest Neighborhood algorithm. The routes obtained from this method are optimal local results so that they can still be optimized to obtain the optimal global results. The results will be reprocessed with improvement heuristics method, namely Simple Local Search to get the most optimal results. From this data processing, it will produce an output in the form of the location of the best facility and route construction by producing the minimum total of distribution cost.

Abstract

This paper briefly discusses the inventory management of coal in a cement industry. The cement company uses coal as fuel in the production process. Continuous production process must be maintained, thus the coal supply must be met to the production demand. In this study, we develop a dynamic simulation of coal inventory control system. We implemented periodic review system (P system) and continuous review system (Q system) method. Our simulation scenario consider some decision variables such as supply, variation of demand, and fluctuation of demand in order to understand the behaviour of the proposed model. This method is expected to provide recommendations for improve the inventory control policies in determining the optimum amount of coal in the warehouse and the optimal interval between orders with a minimum total inventory cost at uncertainty demand condition of product clinker and cement.

Abstract

This research will conduct set covering problem and analytical network process in determining the location of the swab test due to the outbreak of corona virus infection disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Bandung. The location of the swab test can also function as a location for fulfilling medical aids to the residents around the affected area. Solving the solution is done by developing a mathematical model consisting of numbers 1 and 0 in the form of integer linear programming with an output that is zero-one. The objective function is to minimize number of swab test location. From the results, it was found that the location of the swab test was chosen so that it could fulfill the affected areas in Bandung City. Furthermore, using the analytical network process approach, it is obtained 5 criteria, which are then weighted for each criterion, so the calculation results show that area Cicendo is a priority for the location of swab test.
