Abstract

This research aims to determine the geometry ability of class XI students in solving transformation problems and geometric building problems of the Osingese traditional house. The subjects of this study were 6 students of class XI MIPA 4 SMAN 1 Tegaldlimo. Students are given questions of geometric transformation skills and geometric building problems tests, followed by interviews. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The results obtained in the transformation of skills are students with high math scores first have all skills, students with low math scores first have all skills except applied skills, students with medium mathematics scores first only have drawing skills and applied skills, and students with moderate math scores second and second low math score students only have drawing skills. As for geometric building problem skills, almost all students have all skills. The second moderate math score students and first low math students had all skills except, applied skills.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are needed to express ideas, messages, and ideas through written or oral. The research subjects were five students of class XII SMAN Ambulu who were categorized in van Hiele level. The results of the data analysis obtained were students with informal deduction had the ability to express mathematical ideas through written or oral, the ability to understand mathematical ideas both orally and in writing and the ability to use terms and notations to present data, and had the ability to present ideas. mathematics in solving or describing models of mathematical problems. Students of analysis have the ability to express mathematical ideas through oral, the ability to understand and evaluate mathematical ideas both orally and in writing, and are able to use mathematical terms and notations in presenting mathematical ideas. Visualization students are able to explain how to describe geometric transformations orally and are able to use notations and terms in presenting data.

Abstract

One of the goals of learning mathematics is learning to communicate (mathematical communication). Mathematical communication skills are useful in gaining a better understanding of mathematics and a longer memory of learning mathematics. There are differences in communicating ideas, one of which is caused by differences in personality types. The personality types referred to in this study are extrovert and introvert personality types. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study which aims to describe the profile of the extrovert and introvert students’ mathematical communication skills in solving the Three-Variable Linear Equation System question. This research was conducted in MAN 2 Jember and the research subject were all students of class X IPA 1. The data collection method used questionnaires and tests. The instruments used were personality type questionnaires, written test question, oral test question, and assessment rubrics. Based on the result of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that in general extrovert students and introvert students have similiarities and differences in written mathematical communication skills, namely extrovert students and introvert students alike can write down the information known from the questions, the type of methods to be used to solve the question, and use mathematical symbols. The differences is that introvert students can written down the steps for completion and conclusions, but not for extrovert students, this is because extrovert students end a job even though they have not found a solution. In analyzing a job, introvert students tend to take a long time, are more thorough, rushed, and give up easily in completing work. In general, it can be concluded that extrovert and introvert students can explain mathematical models from known information, state the type of methods to be used to solve problems, and used mathematical symbols. The difference is that extrovert students can explain the completion steps but not introvert students, this is because introvert students are hesitant and pessimistic, so they say cannot explain the completion steps even they not tried it.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine what ethnomatematics in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple and produce a test package related to ethnomatematics in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple. This temple is a place of worship for the Tri Dharma people in Pasuruan City. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The subjects of this study were one religious leader and one handyman. Data collection methods used are observation and interviews. In this study focused on several objects of building and carving shapes. Mathematical concepts that emerged in the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple building were geometric, congruent, similarity and geometric transformation. The product made is a test package related to ethnomatematics at the Tjoe Tik Kiong Temple in Pasuruan. This test package is intended for junior high school grade VIII

Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking ability of male and female students in solving jumping task problems on proportion. The jumping task question used is a question with level C4 in Taksonomi Bloom. This type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection method used consisted of the documentation mathematics students report in the first semester, critical thinking test, and interviews. The subjects used in this study are 32 students of class VII G on SMPN 4 Jember. consists of 16 male students and 16 female students. The students are divided into three groups based on the mathematics students report in the first semester. The groups are high, medium, and low category mathematics ability. The results showed that male students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), male students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical), male students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 0 (not critical). While female students with high category mathematics ability had TKBK 3 (critical), female students with medium category mathematics ability had TKBK 2 (quite critical), female students with low category mathematics ability had TKBK 1 (less critical).
